Nothing Is Wrong With Pizza

Karone and Leo had been dating for about a month now, and Karone was delighted.

Leo was pretty ecstatic, too. Karone and Leo liked each other, but the relationship was new and they were both still feeling things out. Who knows where it would take them?

Today was a normal day. Karone was trying (and failing) to make herself a sandwich, when she suddenly turned to her boyfriend and snapped her fingers.

"Oh! My brother is coming to visit Friday and staying for the weekend," she said, hammering jelly onto the bread with her fingers. "You two have met before…"

Leo cringed at the memory. They lost Kendrix then. "Yeah. Andros was cool. A good fighter, too."

Karone playfully punched him in the arm, leaving a glob of jelly. "No fighting this weekend!" she said. "This is strictly fun. If Trakeena attacks, he's staying here."

Leo smiled, grabbed a paper towel and wiped the jelly off his arm. "Sounds like a plan."

Suddenly, something occurred to Leo. "Hey, does he know we're dating?"

Karone cringed. "Oh, no!" she shouted, exasperated. "No, he doesn't know!"

Leo raised an eyebrow. "Uh, why "Oh no"?"

Karone frowned. "Andros can be… overbearing, at times. I love him, but he'd wrap me in bubble wrap for the rest of my life if I'd let him!"

"To be fair, you can't really blame him." said Leo.

Karone threw her hands in the air—spraying peanut butter and jelly everywhere—and paced around the room. "I know! But he'll never approve of you! What'll I do, What'll I do?"

Leo put an arm around his sticky girlfriend, and smoothly said "It'll be fine, Karone! Do you like me?"

She nodded.

"Am I capable of taking care of you?"

She nodded.

"Do you see any obvious flaws with me?"

She nodded.

"I'm going to pretend you didn't say yes to that," he said. "point being—it'll go great! He already knows and likes me!"

"When you put it like that…" she sighed. "You make a pretty good argument."

Karone kissed him on the cheek, and returned to the task of destroying the kitchen with her sandwich.

Leo frowned. If only he could convince himself of what he just convinced her…

Friday

"You guys are dating?" asked Andros, audibly upset.

"Yup!" said Karone happily. "He's been so nice. He actually took me out to dinner a few weeks ago for our first date!"

Andros's eyes widened, and intensely focused on Leo as if he wanted to drill a hole though his head with his mind. Leo reminded himself that he probably did want that.

"WHERE DID YOU TAKE HER?" Andros asked in a tone of poorly masked fury.

"There's a really tasty restaurant that just opened up down the street, they-" Leo started.

"DID YOU ENJOY IT KARONE?!" he asked, his hands shaking with anger.

"If course I enjoyed it!" she chirped. "The pizza was delicious!"

Andros's left eye twitched. "You got PIZZA on a DATE?"

"What's wrong with pizza?" Leo asked, confused.

"Who gets PIZZA on a FIRST DATE?" demanded Andros angrily. "That's not a terribly… ROMANTIC dinner!"

Leo raised an eyebrow. Didn't Andros not want romance?

Andros, on the other hand, was panicking now. His heart rate quickened and he was just about ready to throw his sisters' boyfriend out a window and into the infinite blackness of space. "Ifyoucan'thandletakingawomanoutonadateandyougiveherPIZZAthenIwillpersonally-"

Karone shot him a look. He stopped talking, and sighed.

Andros looked like he both wanted to kill Leo and himself at the same time. "Has he done anything stupid yet, Karone?" he asked.

"Nope!" she smiled, leaning her head into his shoulder. "He's been so good to me!"

"Oh, does he have a good supply of PIZZA?" Andros asked with disdain.

Karone laughed, but Leo knew it wasn't a joke. "NOTHING IS WRONG WITH PIZZA!" he shouted.

Andros grumbled inaudibly.

"I'll be right back, you two boys get to know each other!" Karone said cheerily as she left the room.

Andros's immediately grabbed Leo by the scuff of his red shirt. "Listen, Leo!" He said in a tone that scared Leo instantly. "If you hurt my sister in ANY WAY, I WILL end you!"

"I'm not gonna hurt her!" said Leo defensively. "I'll have you know I like her a lot! And she likes me!"

"EXACTLY!" Andros screamed. "SHE LIKES YOU! AND IF YOU DON'T TREAT HER LIKE-"

"I'M LITERALLY A POWER RANGER!" shouted Leo. "WHAT DO YOU WANT OUT OF ME!?"

"I WANT YOU TO TAKE CARE OF HER!" Andros shouted back. "SHE'S MY SISTER AND I LOVE HER MORE THAN ANYTHING!"

"Let's just calm down," said Leo, tickled by Andros's hair falling on his face. "we both want the same thing—for Karone to be happy. Okay? No need to get so ups-"

"I WILL NOT CALM DOWN!" Andros roared. "MY SISTER GOT A BOYFRIEND AND DIDN'T TELL ME! OF COURSE I'M UPSET!"

"It's not my fault she didn't tell you right away!" defended Leo. "Besides, did you think that maybe she put off telling you because you might threaten to end her boyfriend as soon as she steps out of the room?"

"KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY SISTER!" Andros screamed, ignoring Leos' last statement. "I SWEAR, IF YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT-"

"What are you guys doing?" Karone asked, entering back into the room.

Andros let go of Leo and immediately jumped back into his seat, but he jumped too hard and fell off the couch. Leo stumbled backwards and kicked the table.

"AAH!" Andros screamed, mostly just startled by his fall.

Karone laughed, sitting back in her seat as Leo scrambled to join her. "Graceful as always, Andros. Again—what were you doing?"

Leo quickly smoothed himself over, trying to look cooler than he did. "H-Hi, Karone." said Leo.

"Nothing. We weren't doing anything." Andros lied nervously as he fell back onto the couch.

Karone's eyes narrowed. "You two weren't… fighting, were you?"

"N-No, we weren't." said Andros.

"Well, Andros was-" Leo began, but he was quickly stopped by a kick aimed at him under the table. "OW! Telling me, uh, about when he was a Ranger! Yeah!"

"Good!" said Karone cheerily. "Because if you two were fighting…"

Her eyes narrowed into a terrifying glare that struck fear into both red Rangers. "That would be just awful now, wouldn't it?"

The two nodded quickly and quietly, fearing for their well-being.

"I think so too!" she chirped happily. "So Andros, how's it been around Earth?"

It went like this for the rest of the evening, with Andros and Leo fighting like poorly behaved brothers any time Karone turned her back. It was exhausting for the both of them.

Saturday

"It sure is beautiful outside today!" said Karone delightedly. "Don't you boys agree?"

"I think you're beautiful." Said Leo, eyeing his pretty girlfriend.

"Aw, Leo, you're so nice!" she smiled.

Andros looked prepared to throw Leo into the next lake they came across, not that Karone noticed. "SO KARONE," Andros began loudly. "where to next?"

Karone had this day all planned out. She was not going to waste a second of precious time with her precious brother. "We'll walk a few more blocks to the ice cream place—my treat, of course—and then we'll head to the park afterwards! There's a really nice…"

While Karone was rattling off her plans, Leo accidentally stepped on Andros's heel. Andros immediately stomped on Leos' foot. Ouch! Leo had to bite his lip to stop from shouting.

Oh, now it was on. Leo stomped on Andros's foot, to which Andros responded with by kicking Leo in the back of the foot. Leo, of course, wasn't going to let that slide, so he kicked Andros harder in the toes, but was unpleasantly surprised to find out that Andros's shoes were actually pretty tough. He hurt his own toes on Andros's shoes.

Andros and Leo kept aggressively kicking each other in the feet like little boys while Karone lead them to the ice cream place. They were being awfully quiet behind her…

"You're both quiet today," she said, turning around just a little too late to see Andros miss a sweep kick at Leo. "What're you thinking about, Andros?"

"Just, how, uh, beautiful this place is." he said, pretty sure his big toe was bleeding from all the stomping. "So you… like living here?"

"I just love it here, it's so nice and bright!" she said happily. "And… and I love what I've been doing here, too. I love mattering. I love being good."

"Being good… is good," Leo blurted out with the smoothness of sandpaper.

"I'm glad you're happy." Said Andros with a smile.

You just can't be glad she's happy with me, Leo thought angrily as he glared at Andros.

Karone lead them both into the ice cream place, where there was probably too many flavors to choose from. Most of them sounded weird, at least to Andros. What would Pumpkin Pie Like Mom Used to Make Before That Damn Disease Took Her even taste like?

When Leo made his choicd of flavors, of course the angry Andros had to comment.

"Pizza flavored Ice cream?" asked Andros with distain, starting at Leo. "Really? That's your choice?"

"NOTHING IS WRONG WITH PIZZA!" Leo shouted. "STOP FOCUSING ON THAT OF ALL THINGS!"

"Guys!" said Karone. "You're being loud!"

"He started it," mumbled Leo.

Karone eventually did manage to herd them to the park, and this time she was keeping an eye on them. "Leo!" she said with a laugh. "Tell Andros that thing you said the other day!"

"What thing?" said Andros, turning to Leo with a glare.

"Well, it wasn't that funny…" Leo said sheepishly, eating the ice cream Karone had got him.

Andros took the most menacing lick of an ice cream cone that Leo had ever seen, and then he said "Tell. Me. What. You. Said."

Karone raised an eyebrow, and Andros dropped the menacing demeanor.

"Well, okay…" said Leo. "Two trees walk into a bar…"

Andros already hated the joke. But, Karone looked like she was about to burst, so he listened anyway.

Leo continued. "and one says to the other, "Hey, did you hear about the trees who got arrested last Month?" and the other says, "yeah, I heard they were doing some shady business!"!"

Karone just died. She practically fell over laughing!

Andros thought the joke was stupid, but seeing his sisters' reaction made it hard not to laugh.

"Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!" she wailed hysterically. "I don't! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! know why! Ha-ha-ha! that's so funny! But it is! Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!"

Even though he tried not to, Andros broke a smile. "Heh. I guess it is a little funny…"

Leo smiled wide. Looking at Andros, he mouthed "Guess I'm not so bad after all, huh?"

Andros sighed. He hadn't seen Karone laugh like that in… a long time. He gave Leo a smile that said it all, and contentedly watched his sister laugh.

Sunday

"A monster?!" shouted Karone angrily. "Now?!"

"Well, when should there be a monster?" asked Damon as he ran past her with the other Rangers.

Karone sighed, and turned to her brother. "I'll be back soon, Andros."

"I'm coming with you!" he shouted, as if it were obvious. "Let me get my astro morpher, I'll-"

Karone shook her head. "No, Andros, we don't need your help. We're the Power Rangers, we've got this. Okay?"

"But-"

"No, Andros." Said Karone flatly. "Thank you, but no. Stay here. Got it?"

Andros sighed. "Okay… fine."

Karone left her brother behind and met with her team, who had already began to fight the monster—a bright yellow bee-knight with black and purple stripes, and a large sword that looked to be made of razor-sharp honeycomb.

"Hi guys!" She said, pulling out her Quasar Saber. "Sorry I'm late!"

"It's okay!" said Leo. "Follow my lead, everybody!"

Then he recklessly charged at the monster!

"LEO!" Karone wailed. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

"I HAVE A PL-" Leo shouted back, but the monster pulled up his sword and slashed at him!

Leo quickly deflected the attack, but the monster still threw him back into a wall!

"Take that, Red Ranger!" said the monster with a laugh. "I, Buzzkill, will destroy you!"

"I'm okay!" Leo groaned. "I'll be right there!"

Leo sat up with a grown. That hurt

Seemingly out of nowhere, Andros appeared by his side? "Leo!" cried Andros. "You have to get up! Are you alright?"

Andros pulled a confused Leo to his feet and began to brush the dirt off him? "There you go!" Andros said as he fastened a striped tie around his neck. "You have to be more careful!"

"What… what's happening?" asked Leo, baffled. What… why… a tie? "What are you doing?!"

"NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE CAN MAKE KARONE LAUGH LIKE THAT!" Andros wailed, grabbing him by the shoulders and shaking him aggressively. "YOU CAN'T GO AROUND GETTING YOURSELF HURT!"

Leo sighed and ran back into the battle. "Your brother's crazy, Karone!" he said to his girlfriend as he slashed at Buzzkill.

"What do you mean?" she asked as she sliced a Sting-Winger.

"He was just over there!" Leo said, pointing back to where he talked to him. "He was… he was, uh…"

Andros wasn't there anymore.

"Sigh. Never mind."

"Uh, Leo," asked Karone. "Why are you wearing a tie over your Ranger suit?"

Leo sighed. "I'm not really sure myself," he said,

The Rangers defeated the monster—twice—and finally headed for home, where Andros was waiting for them.

"Karone! Leo!" said Andros, embracing them both. "Welcome back!"

Karone welcomed the hug, but Leo pulled back. "Andros," he began. "seriously! What was that about during the-"

Stomp!

Ow! Leo bit his lip. Andros had stomped on Leos' foot again!

Annoyed as he was, Leo got the message. He kept quiet.

Andros's final night on the Terra Venture went on, and he spent lots of quality time with his sister. He even had a nice—albeit tense—time with Leo.

"Do you really have to leave so soon, Andros?" asked Karone sadly. "It's been so nice having you!"

Andros smiled and hugged his sister. "Yeah, I do. KO-35 isn't going to rebuild itself, you know."

Karone smiled. "True. Thanks for coming to visit. Come back soon, okay?"

Andros hugged her tighter. "Okay. Stay safe, alright?"

"Alright." Said Karone, pulling away.

Andros waved his hand at Leo, gesturing for him to come here. "C-Can I talk to you for a minute, Leo? Uh, alone?"

Leo nodded hesitantly. "…sure?"

Andros pulled Leo into another room.

"I know things were tense while I was here…" Andros began. "and, I'm still not crazy about you and Karone dating, but…"

"But what?" asked Leo hopefully.

"But Karone really likes you, and if nothing else I need to respect that." Andros said.

He sighed nervously, leaning against the wall with one hand in his pocket and the other around his locket. "And, I'm… I-I'm sorry, okay? I shouldn't have acted the way I did, and I'm sorry."

"All is forgiven!" Leo said with a grin. "You really should visit again sometime, so we can have a better time together."

Andros smiled. "Sounds like a plan."

Leo gave a sigh of relief. He had not been looking forward to constantly fighting with his girlfriend's brother.

Andros's face turned serious, and he harshly gripped Leo by his shoulders. "But you had better not do anything I'm gonna have to come and make you regret, got it?"

Leo nodded quickly. "I got it," he whimpered.

Andros and Leo headed back to where Karone waited for them. "Are you leaving now, Andros?" she asked.

"Yeah," he said. "I'll see you later, Karone. I love you!"

The siblings embraced one last time before Andros entered the spacecraft he had arrived on.

"Leo?" he said, stopping in the doorway.

"Yeah?"

"You're okay by me."

Then Andros closed the door behind him and took off as Leo did a fist-pump of victory.

"So," said Leo, slowly putting an arm around Karone. "You wanna go out for PIZZA next Friday?"

Before Karone could say anything, Andros's spaceship returned, the doors opened and he stomped towards Leo. He grabbed him by the shoulders. "Don't push it."

Karone just laughed and laughed as Andros reentered his spaceship and took off for a second time.

"NOTHING IS WRONG WITH PIZZA!" Leo screamed towards the ship as it took off into space.
