Gilbert slowly blinked the sleep out of his eyes, and scrunched them shut again when the blinding morning sunlight that was streaming in from the window met his face. Out of habit, he reached for the place in their bed where his sleeping wife should be, but opened his eyes and sat up in confusion when his hand met nothing but air. Growing a bit frantic, he quickly dressed, and ran throughout their house calling out Anne's name.

He practically threw himself out the back door, stumbling outside when his search inside the house turned out to be in vain. After searching the gardens and the surrounding property, he ran to the cliff that overlooked the ocean nearby their home, and he quickly came to a stop when he saw the figure of his wife, gazing out at the view as the morning breeze blew the messy braids she had slept in. Her dress gently moved with the wind, and almost created the illusion that she was floating.

He stood there behind her for a while, as if in a trance. Even though he saw his Anne every single day, he still marveled at her beauty, and couldn't imagine the day when he wouldn't.

He felt his heartbeat return back to normal, and grinned to himself. He should have expected to find her here, rather than think that she had suddenly disappeared. A few more long moments passed, before Anne turned around to face him. She blinked in surprise, and eyed her husband strangely. Gilbert followed her gaze down to his clothes, and laughed out loud when he saw that they were completely askew; his shirt was inside out and only halfway buttoned, and he still had his slippers on. In his rush, he seemed to have managed to correctly put on a hat, but that's about the only thing that was somewhat presentable about him.

Anne joined in his laughter, and approached him with a smile on her face that revealed the dimples that he adored.

"Hello, love." She kissed his cheek softly. "What happened to you?"

He decided against the option of telling her that he had thought she had been kidnapped in the night, or that perhaps some magical being had whisked her away. "Never mind, love." He murmured, bringing her lips up to meet his. "Never mind."
