At the Owl House, Hooty was taking a nap, so Eda decided to take advantage of the peace and quiet that came with it by looking through an old photo album of hers.

"Wow", Eda said, "so many memories in just one book."

Eda was looking at all kinds of pictures of her from her young adult life, but there was one picture she stumbled across that suddenly made her mood drop.

"Oh", Eda said, "I forgot this one was in here."

It was a photo of a younger Eda lying in a hospital bed holding a newborn baby, and as she looked at it, she sighed sadly.

"I lost so much thanks to that damn curse", Eda said, "I may have got back some of the things I lost after I was cured, but there are still some things I can never get back."

Tears began to form in Eda's eyes as she looked at the picture, when suddenly, Hooty, who was now awake, swung wide open.

"Hoot hoot, the kids are home", Hooty said.

Eda quickly wiped the tears from her eyes and stuffed the photo album in her hair, and Luz, Amity, and Hunter walked into the Owl House, all three of them covered in green slime and smelling awful.

"What happened to you three", Eda asked.

"Ask Luz", Amity said, "it was her idea."

"I only said we should go out in the woods to practice magic with our staffs", Luz said, "how was I supposed to know we'd end up waking a monster and having to fight for our lives?"

"Typical Luz", Eda said, "even in a time of peace, she always finds a way to get into life-threatening situations."

"What can I say", Luz said, "it's what make me me."

Hunter was annoyed by Luz's constant knack for getting into trouble, but even he had to admit that being friends with her meant there was never a dull moment.

"Now go shower", Eda said, "we're going to a Wednesday evening church service tonight."

"Sure thing, Mom", Amity said.

The kids were soon upstairs so they could get themselves showered in preparation for church, and Hunter was waiting outside the bathroom for Amity to finish taking her shower.

"Come on, hurry up", Hunter said, "you've been in there for like, ten minutes."

"Don't rush me", Amity said, "I'll come out when I've gotten myself completely ready."

Hunter growled in frustration.

"Why are women are so slow", Hunter asked.

Just then, a portal opened above his head, and abominatio goo fell all over him, courtesy of Amity.

"I heard that", Amity said.

Hunter wiped some of the goo off his face, and Luz, who had finished up in the bathroom earlier, walked over to him.

"Hey, Hunter", Luz said, "still waiting for the bathroom?"

"Yes", Hunter said, "your girlfriend is taking forever in there."

"Just be patient", Luz said, "she needs all the time she can get to make herself look as beautiful as she does."

"Luz, cut it out", Amity said.

"Why", Luz asked, "am I making you blush?"

Amity said nothing and went back to getting ready.

"Oh, by the way, I have something for you", Luz said.

Luz handed Hunter a purple binder that was decorated with all kinds of stickers all over it.

"What's this", Hunter asked.

"My glyphs", Luz said.

Hunter opened the binder and saw that it was full of all the different kinds of glyphs that Luz had discovered during her time on the Boiling Isles.

"I don't really have much of a need for them now that I can do magic normally, so I thought maybe you might be able to make good use of them", Luz said, "I'll even show you how to make more."

"Wow", Hunter said, "I don't know what to say."

"It's alright", Luz said, "what are friends for?"

It was then that Amity finally exited the bathroom.

"There, I'm all done", Amity said, "now you can finally get in there."

She then walked away down the hall.

"Well, I guess I'd better get in there and shower", Hunter said.

"Alright", Luz said.

Hunter went into the bathroom and shut the door behind him, and as he began getting undressed, he thought to himself about his new life living in the Owl House.

"I've never got to know what this kind of life is like", Hunter said, "it's such a new and amazing experience for me."

That evening, Eda and the kids flew on their staffs to the Church of Bonesborough, which had been established some time after the end of the war, and all got off and went inside.

"Well", Eda said, "here we are."

The church was full of many different witches who had come to show their appreciation for the Lord.

"Wow", Luz said, "this is quite the turnout."

"What did you expect", Amity asked, "everyone's belief in God is all thanks to you."

"It was nothing", Luz said, "all I did was spread the faith like any true believer would."

It was then that the group bumped into none other than Raine Whispers.

"Oh, Eda", Raine said, "good to see you here."

"You too, Rainestorm", Eda said, "how have you been?"

"Pretty good", Raine said, "life's been pretty calm ever since I stepped down as the head of the Bard Coven."

"I'll bet it has", Amity said, "what have you been up to lately?"

"For the most part, I've just been playing in the park and on the streets for cash", Raine said, "but I do plan on getting a real job sooner or later."

"That's good to hear", Luz said.

Just then, a male witch with brown skin, half-bald gray hair, dark green eyes, and glasses walked over to the group.

"Hello, my friends", the witch said.

"Oh, hey, Dad", Raine said.

It was Raine's father, Raymond, who had been appointed pastor of the Bonesborough church because when the residents of the Boiling Isles began to show their newfound faith in the lord, he proved himself to be one of the most devout believers on the entire Isles.

"Good evening, Pastor Raymond", Luz said, "I see you're doing well."

"Indeed I am", Raymond said, "I'm so glad you all were able to come here to show your appreciation for the Lord."

"It's the least we can do as faithful followers", Eda said.

"Indeed", Raymond said, "as followers of the Lord, we must always show our faith to him whenever we can."

"I couldn't said it better myself", Luz said.

"Now then", Raymond said, "if you'll excuse me, I have to go get ready for the service."

And with that, Raymond walked away.

"So, Raine", Eda said, "how'd you like to sit with us tonight?"

"Me, sit with you", Raine asked, "I'd love to."

"Great", Eda said, "follow us."

Raine sat down in a pew with the Owl House group, and they were all soon greeted by a familiar female voice.

"Well look who it is", the voice said.

The voice belonged to Eda's mom, Gwendolyn.

"Mom", Eda said, "what a surprise."

"Is it", Gwendolyn asked, "I'm just as much a believer as the rest of you."

"That's a good point", Luz said.

Gwendolyn then noticed Hunter sitting with them.

"Hello", Gwendolyn said, "Hunter, is it?"

"That's right", Hunter said.

"It's so nice to see you", Gwendolyn said, "I hear you've been living with Edalyn for the past month."

"That's right", Hunter said, "and I have to say, living with her and the others has actually been a pretty nice experience for me."

"I thought it might be", Gwendolyn said, "Edalyn has proven herself to be a pretty good caregiver."

"Thanks, Mom", Eda said.

"So", Gwendolyn said, "is your sister here with you?"

"No, Lilith couldn't come tonight", Eda said, "she's too busy in her new job."

"I guess that makes sense", Gwendolyn said, "a job like hers probably means she has to work hard a lot."

"Yeah", Eda said, "what about Dad, how's he doing?"

"Your father's recovering well", Gwendolyn said, "the healers say he should be back to full health within the next few weeks."

"That's good news", Eda said.

As Eda and Gwendolyn talked, Hunter looked around the church and saw other families happily interacting with each other, including Willow with her two fathers and Gus with his dad, and he began thinking to himself.

"There sure are a lot of happy families here", Hunter thought, "wish I'd known what something like that was like a long time ago."

That night after the service, as Hunter was in his room getting ready for bed, he shared some thoughts he had with his palisman, whose name he learned was Flapjack.

"I've never seen so many families of witches happy when they're together", Hunter said, "I thought it was a pretty nice thing to see."

Flapjack chirped in response.

"I guess I feel that way because it's something I never really saw when I was in the old Emperor's Coven", Hunter said.

Hunter could still remember what life was like being raised by Emperor Belos, or Alexander Whittebane, as his real identity turned out to be, who only ever saw him as a means to an end, and was often abusive towards him, only ever showing signs of kindness towards him when he did something right.

"Living with Luz, Eda, and Amity here at the Owl House has helped me see how great it is to be part of a loving family", Hunter said, "something I never got the chance to experience before."

Flapjack chirped in confusion.

"I never knew who my real family was", Hunter said, "I used to live on the streets until Belos found me."

He then lied down on his bed.

"I don't even have a clue who my birth family is", Hunter said, "or if they're even alive now."

Flapjack could see that his master was feeling upset, so he flew over to him and rubbed himself on his cheek.

"Thanks", Hunter said, "it's nice to have a friend as good as you to talk to."

Hunter stared up at the ceiling of his room and sighed.

"Still, it would be nice to find out who my real family is", Hunter said, "but how am I going to do something like that?"
