Eda was at the Owl House down in the basement looking through some boxes full of random unused stuff she had stored down there.
"I really need to clean this place out more often", Eda said, "there's way too much junk down here."
Eda's boxes had all kinds of things in them like a boombox, and old-fashioned lantern, and even a diver helmet.
"What am I still holding on to most of this stuff for anyway", Eda asked.
Then, she found a box containing an item that she wasn't happy to have found at all.
"Oh great", Eda said, "just my luck."
It was the white wedding dress that Eda had worn on the day of her wedding with her ex-husband (Amity's birth father).
"Why do I still have this thing", Eda said, "I've got enough bad memories of that catastrophe of a marriage."
She then noticed a picture also in the box that was of her with her ex-husband, but only her face was visible in it, as the picture had been torn in half, and the half that had her ex in it was gone.
"I felt like for the first time since Raine and I broke up, I'd finally met someone who I thought I could live happily with", Eda said, "but then that damn curse acted up and ruined everything."
Eda put the lid on the box and set it a corner.
"I'm so throwing this thing in the trash", Eda said, "or burning it."
Eda walked up the stairs out of the basement and went to the kitchen to fix herself a cup of apple blood, and as she took a sip of her beverage from her "30 & Flirty" mug, she heard the front door open.
"Sounds like the kids are home", Eda said.
Eda set her mug down and went into the living room, and sure enough, Luz, Amity, and Hunter had just arrived back from their search.
"Hey, kids", Eda said, "welcome back."
"Thanks", Luz said.
"So how'd your search for Hunter's family go", Eda asked.
"Oh, it went well", Hunter said, "considering that we found my Dad."
"Really", Eda asked, "that quick?"
"That's right", Amity said, "Aunt Lilith's spell led us right too him."
"Well that's good to hear", Eda said, "I'm really happy for you, Hunter."
"Thanks", Hunter said.
"What's he like, if you don't mind me asking", Eda said.
"He's seems pretty nice", Hunter said, "and he was really happy when he found out I was his son."
"I'm sure he was", Eda said, "it sounds a lot like how I was when I was re-united with my long-lost daughter, doesn't it, Amity?"
"It sure does, Mom", Amity said.
"Did you catch his name, by any chance", Eda asked.
"We sure did", Hunter said, "his name's Paxton Delacroix."
"Oh, that's nice", Eda said.
But Eda's mood changed when she heard Hunter mention Paxton's name.
"Hold on", Eda said, "what did you say your old man's name was?"
"Paxton Delacroix", Hunter said.
"Paxton Delacroix", Eda asked, "he's your dad?"
"That's right", Hunter said.
"I've got a picture of him here if you want to see him", Amity said.
Amity showed Eda a picture of Hunter and Paxton together that she had taken on her scroll, and when she saw it, her eyes went wide and she began breathing heavily.
"Eda, are you okay", Luz said.
"Hunter is the son of Paxton Delacroix", Eda said, "that means..."
But before Eda could finish, she fainted, much to the shock of the others.
"Eda", Luz said.
Eda woke up several minutes later, and saw the three teens looking at her.
"Eda, are you okay", Luz asked.
"We were worried when you passed out", Amity said.
Eda moaned as she rubbed her head, and when she remembered who Hunter said his father was, she shot up and turned to Hunter.
"How did you find out Paxton Delacroix is your father", Eda asked, "how did the spell reveal that to you?"
"After I read the spell, a trail of magic appeared in front of me and the girls", Hunter said, "we followed the trail all the way to the library, and after we ran into my Dad, the book revealed him as such."
"But it did take him a minute to realize he and Paxton were related", Luz said.
"Still, I can't believe I managed to find one of my birth parents", Hunter said, "isn't this great?"
But Eda didn't think so, and she had only one thing to say to Hunter.
"Stay away from Delacroix", Eda said.
She then got up off the couch and walked away without saying another word.
"What do you mean stay away", Hunter asked.
Hunter followed Eda into the kitchen and found her pouring herself some more apple blood.
"What have you got against my Dad", Hunter asked, "what do you know about him?"
"Enough to tell you that for your own good, you need to stay as far away from him as possible", Eda said, "getting close to him will only lead to pain and suffering."
"What makes you think that", Hunter asked.
"Because", Eda said, "he was my..."
Eda quickly stopped herself and came up with something different than what she almost said to Hunter.
"My ex boyfriend", Eda said, "we used to date when we were young, but he broke my heart."
"I'm sorry to hear that", Hunter said, "but I'm sure something like that won't happen to me."
"Did I say he broke my heart", Eda asked, "no, he stabbed it, ripped it out of my chest, crushed it in his hands, tore it apart, threw it on the ground, crushed it under his boot, and then he burned it in a bonfire."
Hunter was a bit frightened by Eda's vivid description of what Paxton had supposedly done to her.
"I don't know how that spell led you to him of all witches or what lies he might have told you that made you think you're his son", Eda said, "but I'm warning you, for your own good, forget that you ever met Paxton Maddock Delacroix."
Eda then went upstairs to her room, and Luz and Amity, who had heard every word of the exchange, walked over to Hunter.
"Wow", Amity said, "it sounds like Mom really hates your Dad."
"I'll say", Luz said, "Eda's told me stories about some of her ex boyfriends before, but she's never talked about any of them the way she did Mr. Delacroix."
"I wonder what happened between the two to make her feel that way about him", Hunter said.
"Who knows", Luz said.
"Maybe I can ask Dad about this when I meet him at Grimgrub's Pub tomorrow", Hunter said.
"You're going to see him even though Eda warned you not to", Amity asked.
"He's my long-lost father", Hunter said, "of course I'm going to go see him again."
"Are you sure that's a good idea", Luz asked, "I mean, I'm all for you bonding with your father who you were separated from as a baby, bud don't you think you should at least consider Eda's words?"
"I think she might've just been exaggerating", Hunter said, "I'm sure that if Dad did break her heart, it wasn't as bad as she says it was."
"Maybe so", Luz said.
"Like I said, I'll ask Dad about Eda when I see him tomorrow, and then maybe he'll set the record straight", Hunter said.
"Okay", Luz said, "if that's what you want to do, we'll keep supporting you."
"That's right", Amity said.
"Thanks, girls", Hunter said.
Hunter went up to his room and sat down on his bed, and as he did so, he thought about how amazing it was that he had managed to find a member of his biological family.
"I found him", Hunter said, "I actually found my Dad."
