AN: Before we start the next chapter of this story, I just want to let you all know that I might not be able to update this story as frequently as I have been lately. You see, the school year is starting to come to an end for me at college, and as a result, my school work is starting to pile up some. However, despite the increase in my workload, I'm still going to try to write and publish chapters for this story as often as I can so I can keep it going for all of you. Anywho, with that out of the way, let's get on to the chapter.
The next morning, Luz was in the kitchen eating some cereal for breakfast when Amity came in.
"Morning, Luz", Amity said.
"Good morning, Amity", Luz said.
"Have you seen Hunter anywhere", Amity asked.
"He just left not too long ago", Luz said, "he went to to see if he could find his Dad anywhere."
"Is he now", Amity asked.
"That's right", Luz said, "Mr. Delacroix said he'd like to take him hiking the next time they see each other, so Hunter's going to look for him so he can take him up on that offer."
"Well that's nice", Amity said, "it sounds like Hunter's lucky to have a father like him, even if we don't know that much more about him."
"I'll say he is", Luz said, "at least Mr. Delacroix doesn't seem like the kind of father who'd brainwash his child and try to bring a giant corpse to another world."
"Still having bad memories of what your dad did to you", Amity asked.
"You could say that", Luz said.
"In any case, I'm happy Hunter found his dad", Amity said.
She then poured herself some cereal and took a bite of it.
"I'm kind of wondering if maybe I'll end up have the same luck as him", Amity said.
"What do you mean", Luz asked.
"You mean you're not curious either", Amity asked.
"About what", Luz asked.
"About who my birth father is", Amity said.
"Your birth father", Luz asked.
"That's right", Amity said, "Mom said she was married to a man before she gave birth to me."
"Oh, you mean Eda's ex-husband", Luz said, "yeah, I guess maybe I am a little bit curious."
"I've been wondering who he is ever since I found out she was my Mom", Amity said, "and now that we've freed the Isles from Belos' reign, I can finally see about finding some clues that'll point me to who he is."
"How are you going to do that", Luz asked.
"I'm not sure yet", Amity said.
It was at that moment that the two girlfriends heard Eda making her way into the kitchen.
"Well here comes your mom now", Luz said, "maybe you can ask her more about your dad."
"Alright", Amity said, "I could give that a try."
Eda opened up the fridge to get out some apple blood, and Amity walked over to her.
"Hey, Mom", Amity asked, "can I ask you a question?"
"Sure", Eda said, "what can I do for you?"
"Who was my Dad", Amity asked.
Eda didn't say anything and pulled a bottle of apple blood out of the fridge.
"Did you hear me, Mom", Amity asked.
Eda still didn't say a word and began drinking apple blood directly from the bottle.
"I said who was my Dad", Amity said, "you know, the man you married before you gave birth to me?"
As the bottle was a very large one, Eda was still drinking from it, much to Amity's annoyance.
"Mom sure knows how to chug down liquor", Amity thought.
At last, Eda finished drinking her apple blood and replied to Amity.
"I can tell you who your dad was", Eda said.
"Really", Amity asked, "who?"
"An asshole", Eda said, "a no-good lying, deserting asshole."
"Okay, I guess that's interesting to know", Amity said, "but it doesn't answer my question."
"Why the sudden interest", Eda asked.
"I'm curious", Amity said, "since it turns out you're my birth mom, I thought maybe I'd try and find out who my dad was."
"He left me all because of that damn curse I used to have", Eda said, "even though I'd been keeping it under control up until the point where he discovered it, he still thought I was a danger to him and everyone else on the Boiling Isles."
As Eda talked about her ex-husband, she began to grow more and more upset over what happened.
"I spent years married to your father, and they felt to me like some of the best years of my life since before I got cursed", Eda said, "but then he threw all our love away and left me after I transformed into the Owl Beast on that heartbreaking night."
Amity could tell that Eda was feeling pain by remembering such memories.
"So trust me, you're better off pretending that you never even had a father", Eda said, "just like I'm better off pretending I never even met or married that jerk."
Eda set her empty bottle of apple blood on the counter and walked out of the kitchen.
"Wow", Amity said, "I knew Mom might not be very happy about talking about my Dad, but I didn't think she'd get this upset over it."
"I know", Luz said, "in fact, it almost sounds like she hates her ex husband more than she hates Mr. Delacroix."
"I guess so", Amity said, "and since it doesn't look like Mom's in the mood to tell me more about him, I'm going to have to figure out some other way to find out who my Dad is."
Luz thought about the situation for a moment, and suddenly, an idea popped into her head.
"I know", Luz said, "maybe you could use that spell Hunter used."
"Which spell", Amity asked.
"The one that led him to Mr. Delacroix and revealed him as his father", Luz said.
"Oh, right, that spell", Amity said, "you really think it'll work?"
"If it can lead Hunter to his father he got separated from at birth, then surely it can lead you to your father who left your mother before you were born", Luz said.
"Alright", Amity said, "I guess I could give it a try."
Amity grabbed her staff and left the Owl House, then she flew all the way over to the Emperor's Castle, where she asked Lilith if she could borrow the book that contained the spell Hunter had used, and her aunt was more than happy to let her use it.
"If you don't mind me asking, though", Lilith said, "what do you need this particular spell book for, anyway?"
"There's someone I want to try and find using a spell in here", Amity said, "someone I'm curious to find out more about."
"I see", Lilith said, "well, I'm sure you're bound to find something using one of these spells."
"Thanks", Amity said.
Amity took the spell book and left the castle with it.
"Okay", Amity said, "here we go."
Amity opened the book and turned the page to the spell Hunter had used previously and read it.
Mist in the past,
Clouds in my memories,
The mystery of my family is ever vast.
Lead me in the direction that I must go go,
My living relative, to me you must show.
Then, just like what happened with Hunter, a trail of magic appeared from the book and went out into the woods.
"There's the trail", Amity said, "time to follow it and see who it leads to."
Amity began walking down the path the trail went down on her quest to find out who her birth father was.
"I really hope this leads me to my Dad", Amity said, "I can only imagine what he's like."
Meanwhile, in the woods near the Titan's leg, Hunter was with Paxton, and the two of them were getting ready to go on a hike up to the knee.
"I'm so glad I was able to find you, Dad", Hunter said, "I'm really looking forward to this."
"Me too, Son", Paxton said, "there's no better way to spend a day that I can think of than going on a hike all the way up to the Titan's knee with you."
As Paxton put some things in his backpack, Hunter noticed that his father's right wrist looked a little red and began to feel a little concerned about him.
"Hey, Dad", Hunter said, "what's that on your arm?"
Paxton became nervous upon hearing Hunter's question.
"What's what on my arm", Paxton asked, "son, I can explain."
"Okay, good", Hunter said, "I'm sure there's quite a story behind that scar you've got on your arm."
Paxton then calmed down once Hunter said what he had seen.
"Oh, that", Paxton said, "well, I guess I could tell you what happened."
Paxton rolled up his right sleeve, and Hunter reacted in shock to find that much of the former's right arm was horribly scarred.
"The damage you see here is the result of a series of experiments that were conducted on me quite some time ago", Paxton said.
"Experiments", Hunter asked.
"That's right", Paxton said, "experiments that were conducted with the good of the Isles in mind."
Hunter had a pretty good idea for who was behind the experiments.
"The True Magic Coven", Hunter thought.
"The experiments were long and, as you can see, painful", Paxton said, "but eventually, they came to an end, and I was so glad for all that trouble to be over."
"That must've been hard for you to have to go through", Hunter said.
"Oh, it was", Paxton said, "believe me, it really was."
Paxton's mood then changed as he put his backpack on.
"But enough about that", Paxton said, "let's get on with that hike now."
Paxton began walking towards the Titan's leg, and Hunter followed him, now angry about the True Magic Coven more than ever.
"The True Magic Coven will pay for what they've done", Hunter thought, "especially the Master of Undivision."
Back with Amity, the lilac-haired witch was walking through the woods, still following the trail that had come from the spell book.
"I've been following this trail for hours", Amity said, "how long is is gonna take for me to find my Dad?"
Suddenly, she got an idea.
"I know", Amity said, "I'll climb up a tree and see if I can get a good view of where the trail leads to from there."
Amity walked over to the tree that was closest to her and began to climb it, but she soon found the task to be a very difficult one.
"This is hard", Amity said, "maybe I should've picked a different tree to climb up."
Then, she stepped on a branch that wasn't very sturdy, and it ended up breaking, causing her to fall back down onto the ground.
"Ow", Amity said, "damn, that hurt!"
Amity picked herself up and dusted herself off, and as she picked up her spell book, she heard a buzzing sound that made her feel very afraid.
"Uh-oh", Amity said.
Amity turned around and found behind her a swarm of fire bees who had been inside a hive that was on the branch Amity stepped on, but now their hive was broken, and they were looking really mad.
"Sorry about your hive", Amity said, "no hard feelings?"
The bees then zoomed towards Amity, prompting her to jump out of the way, and they ended up stinging a tree, which was soon charred to a crisp.
"Crap", Amity said.
Amity took off running with the bees hot on her trail and tried to escape them several times, but no matter what she did, she couldn't shake them.
"I've had it now", Amity said, "what do I do?"
But at that moment, she noticed a pond nearby and got an idea.
"Water", Amity said, "I'm safe!"
Amity pinched her nose shut and ran over towards the pond, then took a big jump into it and swam down to the bottom of it, where she waited for the bees to go away, and after what seemed like forever, the bees finally gave up and flew away, and Amity swam back up to the surface and breathed in a large breath of air.
"Finally", Amity said, "it's over."
She got out of the pond and shook off as much water off her as she could.
"Okay", Amity said, "now that that's over, it's time to get back to my search."
But when Amity opened up the spell book, she had a nasty surprise waiting for her.
"Oh no", Amity said.
The book had gotten wet because she was still holding on to it when she dove into the pond, and as a result, the writing on the pages was all washed up could no longer be read, and to make matters worse, she could no longer see the trail that had appeared for her when she first read the spell.
"No", Amity said, "not the spell!"
Amity was very upset that she had lost what seemed like her best chance at finding out who her birth father was, and after sitting down sadly for a while, she stood back up and summoned her staff.
"Well, it looks like there's not much I can do anymore", Amity said, "might as well call it a day and head home."
And with that, Amity got on her staff and began flying back to the Owl House.
"I really hope Aunt Lilith has another copy of that book of spells", Amity said, "and I'm not just saying that because I want to try and use that spell again."
