Chapter 3 - The Go Gets Going...
Shane leaned on a wall as he tried to process the events which just occurred.
He had to admit to himself that he went a little overboard with the rudeness and not to mention cornering her and threatening her as well especially when he knew the girl only came to apologize to him. And he knew very well that what happened on screen was a mistake. It was very off-character for him and he was not one to lose his cool so easily. Everyone regarded him as the most sane and cool-headed McMahon even ranking above his mother.
But there was something about that girl that set him off. Maybe it was the brief glimpses of her in ring persona, her fast mouth when she was angry, that stupid smug expression she had on her otherwise pretty face or maybe it was just the kick that bothered him. There was something about her alright, and he didn't like it one bit.
He had a feeling that with time, she would become a problem.
"What are you doing?!" Shane nearly jumped at the sound of the voice as it pulled him away from his thoughts. He turned around to the blonde responsible for the little scare who was giggling uncontrollably at how funny it was.
"Jesus Trish, do you wanna my heart to run outta my chest?" Shane asked still panting as he tried to recover.
"Yeah that'll be pretty cool to watch. Let your heart roam free!" She said resuming her fit of giggles. Shane shook his head in disappointment but couldn't help laughing along with the blonde.
Trish Stratus was his closest female friend or dare he say closest friend in the entire company. She hadn't been there too long but it really didn't seem like that to Shane. She was always there to brighten his mood when his dad was being a jerk, give him advice when his dad was being a jerk and be there for him when his dad was being a jerk. Funny right?
He was sure he had other problems too but the main ones had to do with his dad.
At least until now...
"So what are you doing here anyways?" Trish asked poking her head in the direction she saw him staring at but fortunately; for Shane at least, Monica had already left there. It was for good measure too. It would've been a pretty awkward conversation if Trish had asked him why he was staring in that direction. Considering tonight's events, it would've been pretty obvious to Trish who he was looking at.
"A guy can't just relax and ponder about his life anymore?" He joked but Trish wasn't buying it.
"Sure, any man can but not you Shane McMahon. Something's on your mind. Spill" She said putting one arm on her waist in a stance that said 'just tell me already'. She knew him too well. He sighed.
"I'm not really in the mood to..."
"This is about that new girl isn't it? The one that kicked you in the face for real. What is her name again... Monica right?" Trish rambled on. Shane groaned making the Trish raise up an eyebrow. "Is she really the one who got you all hot and bothered?" Trish asked holding back a chuckle.
"No she isn't! I could care less." Shane replied defensively but Trish called his bluff.
"Tell that to the birds. C'mon Shane, it's no big deal if she kicked you. Accidents happen and people will probably stop making fun of you in like a week so it's okay" Trish said trying to make him see the brighter side.
"Everyone watched it didn't they?"
"The ones who didn't heard about it. People are making bets on whether or not she will be fired. Jericho bet Eddie five hundred dollars she will be fired."
"Wow. Well I hate to burst his bubble but she's staying and apparently we're not really seeing eye to eye"
"Eye to eye... Shane what did you do?" Trish asked narrowing her eyes at him. Shane took a deep breath and narrated everything to her. She wasn't pleased. "Shane!"
"Yeah, yeah. I know." He said already knowing how much Trish would criticize him for doing all that.
"Ugh, you're such an idiot Shane but I'll pin it on the kick messing with your head. At least promise me you'll apologize."
"And if I don't?" He asked. Trish remained silent but glared at him. "Alright I will, first thing tomorrow during the Smackdown taping. Just don't hit me with the Stratus-glare." He said with a little laugh but Trish just stared blankly at him wondering what was funny. "You know, like stratosphere?"
"Huh. It works doesn't it? You're actually..." Trish's breath hitched midsentence as she noticed a figure behind walking closer to them. Shane was confused at her sudden reaction but he suddenly put two and two together and his suspicion was confirmed when the figure walked past them and Trish released a deep breath.
"Are you always gonna be like this whenever you're within a fifty mile radius of Jeff Hardy?" Shane teased Trish about her massive crush on Jeff Hardy as the blonde blushed. "Just tell him already"
"Oh hush. The time hasn't come yet and it's not that easy"
"Trish and Jeff sitting in a tree..." Shane sang as he plastered a playful smirk on his face which infuriated Trish the more.
"Stop! I mean it. Ugh! You won't understand. Let's wait until you're finally find a girl you like. You won't here the end of it from me" Trish vowed which made Shane laugh.
"Good luck with that. Cause that ain't happening anytime soon girl" He said. Trish rolled her eyes.
"Whatever. You owe me a piggyback ride now for annoying me. Good day sir' She said taking mock offense as she walked away leaving Shane a laughing freak.
"Oh come on Trish, don't go..." He said still in fits of laughter as he chased after her.

*The next day*
"C'mon Monnie! Get your butt outta the shower already! We have to be downstairs in ten or we will miss the bus!" An already anxious Lita yelled at Monnie who was taking a shower not minding the fact that they were running late.
"I'm trying my best!" Monica yelled back stepping out of the bathroom moments after. "It's your fault for making me drink so much last night, God!" She said still feeling the effects of the hangover. After the whole Shane thing the previous night, Monnie didn't show much interest in going to a club anymore. Lita complied and they just decided to order a few drinks and listen to some music till they passed out.
"Gee sorry, I thought you knew how to hold your alcohol better. Anyways we'll talk about how we will talk about how I'm the bad guy later. For now let's get a move on, chop chop!" Lita commanded as she and Monica scurried around the room getting their stuff in order before heading out. They ran through the corridors of the hotels like insane people trying to beat time. Luckily for them, they got to the front desk with five minutes to spare.
"I'm never drinking again" Monica mumbled as they checked out of the hotel and made their way outside.
"Tell it to the birds" Lita said as they located the bus and got on it. It looked incredibly filled up. "Well, that's the downside of coming at the very last minute. There should be seats but they will be extremely difficult to locate""
"Over here babe!" Matt yelled from the back of the bus. Lita smiled.
"Unless you have a boyfriend of course" She said with a giggle.
"You must be proud" Monica said sarcastically which made Lita roll her eyes.
"Oh whatever, you're just jealous" Lita defended. "Good luck finding a seat though, don't sit next to an asshole!" She said to Monica with two thumbs up before walking over to where Matt was sitting leaving her by herself.
Monica sighed deeply.
It was kind of awkward for her as she made her way past the rows of seats in the bus because while some people were talking amongst themselves, a good number eyes were on her. Hell, she could have sworn she caught Raven checking her out but nonetheless she kept her head down and continued her search for a seat. She eventually found a window seat right next to Eddie Guerrero. Eddie was in a conversation with Steven Richards who was sitting in the opposite seat.
"Um, hi Eddie, I'm Monica. Please do you mind if I seat over there?" She asked politely.
"Of course mammacita, make yourself at home!" He replied with his usual enthusiasm.
"Thanks so much" She said with a smile. But as she was about to sit down there, from literally nowhere Christian flew into the seat. You can't make this stuff up. "What the hell?" She asked. She could've sworn she saw him sitting somewhere else before.
"Sorry princess, first come first serve" Christian said smugly. "Hi Eddie"
"What's up vato?"" Eddie replied. Monica let out a groan of frustration.
"Where am I gonna get a seat this time?"
"There's an empty seat next to Edge over there" Steven Richards pointed out and sure enough there was a window seat right next to Edge; three rows before the one they were at.
She smelled something fishy.
Christian must have read her mind because he spoke out. "You must have missed it on your way. Better get the seat before someone else steals it" He said with a devious smile.
"Yeah, I 'missed it', thanks" She said through gritted teeth. Obviously Edge and Christian were trying to mess with her. Assholes.
Still she wasn't sure if there were any other seats left so she decided to suck it up and just seat with Edge after all the bus was gonna go into motion in a few minutes. Before turning around though she could've sworn she saw Christian smirking at her furthermore proving to her that this was all a ploy.
"Hey gorgeous, couldn't resist sitting next to me huh? You must find me utterly irresistible. Who could blame you though?" Edge said smugly as she took her seat next to him trying her best not to punch him in the face.
She was so going to get them back.
"Just try not to talk to me, okay hot stuff?" She asked.
"Hot stuff already? Moving too fast are we Monica" Edge said with a little laugh. Monica was not amused.
"I was being sarcastic. And you're one to talk, you made Christian trade seats so you could annoy me the whole ride?" She asked as she massaged her temples. The hangover hadn't completely worn off yet.
"Something wrong?"
"Just a little headache, don't try to change the subject!" She yelled after which she winced as the act of yelling made her head ache even more.
"Was someone out drinking yesterday? Rookie mistake"
"What did I say about not changing the subject Edge?" She asked. Edge raised up his hands in mock surrender.
"Hey, I have no idea what you're talking about. If your head is really bothering you I could get you some aspirin, I always keep a spare bottle in my duffel bag. It should be here somewhere" Edge said shuffling through his duffel bag. "Ahah, here we go." He said tossing it to her. She eyed it suspiciously wondering why he was being nice.
"Is this a prank or something?" She asked.
"What? No. Just take it. You know you want to" Edge said. Monica looked back at forth at him and the bottle. "I assure you, everything's fine"
"I swear if anything happens..."
"...then you can kick me in the head I won't stop you" Edge said coolly.
"Well... alright then" She said as she got out some tablets and gulped it down with water. At least if anything happened to her they were surrounded with people.
"See, told you I'm nice. You should be thanking me for making Christian switch seats."
"Oh, so now you admit it." She said rolling her eyes.
"Yep, you got me. But hey any excuse to sit with the prettiest girl in the company right?" Prettiest? She was flustered for a second but quickly regained herself by shaking her head a little.
"Uh... yeah, right. I'm sure you try this out with every new female employee"
"Nope, only you" He said giving her a cheeky smile.
"Well I uh..." For once she couldn't come up with a smart-ass comment. He was good.
"I know, I'm good." What? Did she say that aloud.
"Yeah, whatever." She said with a playful eyeroll. "But anyways, thanks for the aspirin, I really appreciate it."
"Anytime. But getting drunk on debut night is a rookie mistake though, no matter who you are you'd always get pretty overwhelmed the very next day, believe me I've been there" Edge said.
"Yeah, I just figured it out but what do I do? Wait till my next debut?" She asked making Edge laugh, incredibly loud. And he kept on laughing and laughing getting weird stares from some people on the bus.
"Quiet down Copeland! Some of us are trying to sleep!" Bradshaw from the APA yelled. He was sitting two seats away from them.
"Copeland?" She asked.
"Yeah, my real name is Adam Copeland" He replied. "Kiss my ass Bradshaw!" Edge fired at Bradshaw back making the man clench his fist in anger which made Edge laugh all the more.
"Yeah I think that will do, Adam" Monica said making sure to stress on the 'Adam' "You know what, I'll stick with Edge"
"What ever suits you gorgeous. Hey can I keep calling you gorgeous?"
"No but I have a feeling you will continue anyways so knock yourself out" She said taking in a deep breath as she tried her best to relax on the bus seat.
"You already know me so well" He said with a cheeky smile. She gave him a small smile but remained quiet after that, looking outside the window. "So... how long have you been wrestling?"
"You're really bent on talking the whole way there huh?" Edge nodded. "Well, good enough for me. I started wrestling at sixteen. Turned pro at twenty." Edge whistled.
"I'm impressed. It shows when you're in the ring" He said. She laughed.
"Oh really? Edge you've literally never seen me in a match unless yesterday counted" She said with a shudder. "I would've nearly gotten fired"
"But you didn't!" Edge said in an attempt to lighten up her mood. Before she could respond her stomach growled noisily reminded her that she hadn't eaten anything that morning. Dammit! "Was that your stomach?'
"Yeah I guess so" She said quietly. "When's our next stop?" She asked.
"Two hours. I think they expected everyone to have eaten breakfast before coming in" Edge said. Monica replied with a sigh. "But luckily for you, I got you covered. Behold!" He said bringing out a donut from... actually she didn't see where he brought it out from. It couldn't have been his duffel bag, he opened it earlier and she saw nothing of this sorts.
"Edge, where did you get that from?"
"Not important, but you need to get this inside your stomach pronto. And for the record it's not poisoned" Monica eyed him suspiciously. Why would he say that if it wasn't? "Okay, I agree that was suspicious as hell"
"You think?" She asked holding back a laugh.
"It's it trust me. I just don't want you passing out because of hunger alright, so eat it? It's only a little poisoned" He joked. She actually cracked a smile as she took the donut from him.
"I'm not interrogating only because I'm hungry but, thanks Edge" She said as she bit into it. It tasted like heaven.
"Coffee?" He asked pulling out on from a Starbucks bag underneath the bus seat which she guessed the donut came out from.
Huh, she wondered why she didn't notice it earlier?
"Thanks but why are you being so nice to me Edge?" The blonde man laughed.
"I'm a generally nice guy to anyone and everyone. Babies, kittens, poodles, chicks you name it" He winked. She laughed once again.
"Well, for what it's worth. Thank you. I don't know if I would have passed out but thanks for not making me wait to see whether or not it would have actually happened"
"Aww, I think in the fifteen to sixteen hours I've known you that's the nicest thing you've said to me" He sid with a cheeky smile.
"Well keep up the good behavior and expect more."
"Will do gorgeous"
"You're never gonna quit on the nickname are you?"
"Never!" He replied in a super hero-ish voice making the girl laugh once again.

"...c'mon Monnie, wake up!" Monica felt herself being aggressively tapped on and awoke slowly from her slumber to an angry female voice she recognized later on to be Lita's. "We've gotta get going"
"Yeah, yeah I'm coming." She said groggily as she tried to stretch. "Just five more minutes" She said with a yawn. She didn't remember how she had fallen asleep. All she remembered was talking with... "Oh my God Edge!"
"That's right gorgeous. I thought of waking you up myself but Lita here beat me to it. Probably best she did instead, you seem to love my shoulder so much I couldn't stand to wake you up" He said making her blush slightly with embarrassment.
"Oh but I do in fact I am. Wake up Monnie we're burning daylight. And you get out too" She said pointing at Edge who in turn did a mock salute.
"Yes ma'am." He said grabbing his stuff as well as they all got off the bus. "See you girls later" He said walking away.
Once he was out of sight and hearing distance Lita turned over to Monica and sent her a deadly glare. "What the hell did I do?" Monica asked.
"Edge, really?" Lita asked making no attempt to hide her disgust. Why was she so disgusted though?
"Yeah. Well not yeah like yeah... but, he's cool" Monica replied as they got off the bus.
"You're making no sense. Just don't get too attached to him. End of discussion" Lita said keeping a straight face afterwards.
To say Monica was confused would have been a huge understatement.
Maybe Edge was a jackass from time to time but he showed her that he was accommodating, nice, funny and overall a good person. He kept her company during the long bus ride and offered his shoulder for her to sleep on when she got tired. He was alright.
She didn't know what Lita's problem was with him all of a sudden. Something was definitely wrong.
"What do you mean get attached? Is there something I should know?" Monica asked with her confusion filled voice. Lita sighed. She was about to give a response before being conveniently interrupted.
"Hey beautiful ladies" Matt said walking up to them and placing a peck on Litas' lips. "I missed you"
"Oh barf, you guys spent the entire bus right together. The breakfast I almost puked out is enough proof" Jeff said with disgust walking up to them as well. Monica giggled. "Well I'm glad it amuses you, it makes one of us"
"Well good news for you Jeffrey, Matt and I will be out of your hair for a while. We need to 'catch up' if you know what I mean" Lita said with a wink as Matt chuckled.
"Eww, I think the breakfast is coming up again" Jeff joked.
"No kidding, mine too" Monica added.
"Sucks to be you. Jeff get a girlfriend, Monnie you didn't even have any breakfast. Tootles" Lita said entwining her hands with Matt as they walked away leaving an amused Monica ad an overly disgusted Jeff.
"That was..." Monica started but couldn't quite come up with the word to describe what she wanted to say. Luckily she didn't need to because Jeff understood.
"Welcome to my world. I'm a third wheel most of the time, it sucks. But at least now that you're here and Lita's making you an unofficial Teax Xtreme member, maybe those days are behind me" Jeff said making her giggle. "Or... I could just get a girlfriend" He said with a shrug. Monica laughed. "What's funny?"
"Sorry, but I find it extremely hard to believe that you're single. I mean it in the nicest way possible" She said with an innocent smile. Jeff raised an eyebrow.
"Okay... may I ask why?"
"Cause you're so darn cute, duh!" She pointed out as Jeff laughed.
"Wow, well that's not the first time I've heard that. I'm flattered." He said fanning himself jokingly.
"Of course you are."
"But to answer your question earlier..."
"I didn't ask a question" Monica said with a cheeky smile. Jeff rolled his eyes.
"As I was saying... I guess I'm single because I've not really found the right girl or something, you know? And I'm only twenty three so..."
"Yeah I understand. But twenty three, you're such a baby. I'm twenty five" She teased.
"And you're so old! Oh my God!" Jeff exclaimed sarcastically as the both of them laughed. "So, you have any idea what you're doing tonight? Anything with Shane?" He asked not failing to notice how she shuddered at the mention of his name. "Anything wrong?"
"Not really, just that jerk cornered me after the whole meeting with his dad and said some mean stuff. It's no big deal but I'm not really jumping with joy to work with him again. I might just get tempted to concuss him for real" She said with an eyeroll. "Asshole"
"Interesting usage of words Miss. Alvarez" A voice spoke up from beside them making them jump.
"Hi... Shane" Jeff said trying to play it cool but failing miserably.
"Hardy" Shane acknowledged before turning over to the Latina. "Dad told me to inform you that you and Rock are starting the show tonight. We're having a little confrontation too. Here's the script." Shane said handing her a document,
"Thank you" She said flatly.
"Monica I'll just..." Jeff started.
"Yeah you can go Jeff, thanks" She said forcing a smile as the multi-colored hair guy walked away trying to avoid the awkwardness as well as giving the two space to talk. "What do you want Shane?" Monica asked once Jeff was gone.
"I'll see you in the ring in an hour" He said walking away as well.
Great. Just great.
