There she was.

The woman he had heard crying out.

He had to get to her.

Pulling on every last reserve of strength he had, Luis yanked himself down farther into the depths of the water and tugged her into his arms.

Sheridan?

Sheridan?

Was he seeing things again—or was it really her?

His heart hammering, Luis tightened his arms around Sheridan as his feet hit the sand.

The woman who had cried out—the woman he had found sinking into the depths of the ocean—it had really been her.

The fact that he had randomly found her in the middle of the ocean—that had to mean something, right?

It had to mean she would live.

"Number Nine?" Liz rushed over to him as he lowered Sheridan to the ground. "Did you see my friend Brian? He's out there looking for her, too."

"No . . . I didn't. . . ." Luis positioned his hands over Sheridan's heart. "Please, I need some help—she's not breathing."

"I'll go get Doc," Liz said, rushing over to the water's edge. "Brian—come back in! Our guest found Diana!"

"Diana?" Luis's eyes flew to Liz. "This is Sheridan."

Liz looked back at them, her eyes widening. "She has amnesia."

Luis's eyes whipped back to Sheridan. "Amnesia?" he repeated, his heart plummeting.

The blue tinge of Sheridan's face deepened.

Luis's mind snapped back to the situation at hand.

He had to get her breathing again.

Barely blinking as Liz rushed off down the beach, Luis began to pump her chest. "Come on, Sheridan. Please stay with me. Please—you've got to live."

Diana coughed, water sputtering from her mouth.

Lurching onto her side, she spewed liquid up from her chest.

What had just happened?

She had been swimming. She had started to cramp.

She had nearly drowned.

"Sheridan?"

Diana's heart jumped.

That whisper.

That voice.

Was she hallucinating?

"Sheridan?" the voice came again.

Diana inched her eyes up.

There he was—hovering above her.

The man she loved with every single inch of her heart.

"Sheridan." His voice cracking, he cupped her face in his hands. "Please—say something."

Her heart lodging in her throat, Diana blinked back tears.

"I know you might not remember me," he said, moisture gathering in the corners of his eyes. "It's okay—we'll work through it."

Her heart swelled. "It's you—it's really you."

"Sheridan?" A tear slipping down his face, he traced his fingers down her cheeks. "Do you remember me?"

The lump in her throat growing, she nodded.

"Sheridan," he breathed, his voice thickening. "Oh, Sheridan."

Shifting onto her back, she reached up and wiped the tear from his face.

His eyes glistening, he picked up her hand and pressed a kiss to the top of her knuckles.

Her heartbeat accelerated.

He had done this before.

On a carriage ride.

In a gazebo.

Dressed up in a tuxedo—right in front of a church.

"Luis!" she gasped, her eyes darting back to his.

"Sheridan?" Luis's brows shot up. "Do you remember?"

His question echoing in her head, memory after memory flashed through her mind.

Kissing him on a wharf, his eyes sparkling at hers as he told her he loved her, dancing with him over and over again . . .

"Sheridan?" Luis tried again. "Sheridan—are you remembering our life together?"

"Yes!" Her heart bursting, she threw her arms around him. "It's all coming back to me."
