Moonstar awoke to find herself still in the loft, only Euclase wasn't there anymore. They must have accidentally fallen asleep there while Moonstar was still crying... how embarrassing.

The room was dark but Moonstar guessed it was morning. She could hear the other dragonets downstairs, probably having food. Moonstar's belly rumbled, she was so hungry but she knew if she tried to go eat she would be stopped. This was her punishment after all...

She stood up and shook the dust off her scales, and headed down anyway. She would probably be screamed at if she wasn't there to watch the other dragonets eat while she got nothing. Their "caregivers" loved torturing them like that.

She headed into the room, her wings pinned against her sides and head down in the hopes nobody would notice her. But it was no use. "Oh look, it's the retarded hybrid monster." said Wendigo. He was an IceWing, though he himself was quite obviously a hybrid, with blood red wings and big horns. The other dragons at that table turned and laughed at her, and she looked down, even sadder. Even the other hybrids didn't want her around.

She shifted her gaze upwards to look for Euclase, and noticed sadly that she was sitting with Topaz, a pureblooded SkyWing, where Moonstar wasn't welcome. She also noticed that the only open table was one the one where Fierceflight sat. He was the only NightWing in the whole orphanage, so everyone listened to him. But Moonstar was the only one who knew that he didn't have his NightWing powers yet, so he hated her in particular. Still, she headed towards the table anyways, knowing the only other option was sitting with their minders.

Fierceflight looked up and his amber eyes fixed her with a cruel gaze. "What are you doing here, didn't anybody tell you NightWings are above filthy trash like you?" he snarled. "Don't you know the minders wish they could just get rid of you? I overhear them talking about leaving you to die every other day!"

Moonstar began to tear up. These were words she'd heard every day but they didn't hurt any less. "Stop it Fierceflight." she whimpered, beginning to tear up. "You're just jealous because I have the NightWing powers and you don't have anything."

"SHUT UP!" Fierceflight yelled, lunging forwards to claw Moonstar's snout. His claws dug under her scales painfully. His eyes were blazing. "I'm tired of you thinking you're better than me! You think you're so special but you're not! Nobody will ever love you because you're hideous, powers or none!" Fierceflight made a hissing sound and smoke began to billow from his nostrils. Other dragonets were beginning to stare now. Moonstar recognized the sound as the one dragons made when they were about to breathe fire. Oh no, Fierceflight was about to kill Moonstar! She thrashed but he refused to let go.

But once again, Moonstar's powers reacted before she ever could have. She began hissing too, but not to breathe fire though she knew she was able to. Instead, she felt a powerful cold feeling surge through her chest before she exhaled, breathing ice all over Fierceflight's face and freezing it shut before he could open it to kill Moonstar. He screamed at the sudden cold, clawing his own face in an attempt to get it off, before stumbling away from the chair.

What have I done?! Moonstar thought with horror, unable to do anything but watch as his eyes rolled back into his head and he collapsed, unconscious. Everyone in the room was staring, the room deadly silent.

The first voice to emerge through the silence was that of Bullfrog, another one of their minders, a huge MudWing all scarred up from the war. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!" she shrieked, immediately rushing over to Fierceflight who was breathing shallowly, still unconscious.

"H-He attacked me! I didn't mean to hurt him! It was an accident!" Moonstar tried to defend. Everyone was still staring. Her ears drooped. "Please believe me!"

"LOOK AT HIM!" She screeched again. His skin was turning a nasty shade of black, burning from the ice. "YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE ALIVE!" She lunged over the table towards Moonstar, too paralyzed to dodge, and pinned her to the floor immediately. "I've had about enough of you! All you do is waste the food that we barely have enough of! You're a curse, Moonstar, and I'm ending it RIGHT NOW!"

Bullfrog opened her jaws about to rip Moonstar's head off. She was too small to struggle out from the MudWing's iron grasp. "Help me." she cried, but everyone else in the room was just cheering at this point.

Everyone.. Except for one. "Leave her alone!" Euclase cried out, her powerful SeaWing tail striking the MudWing. It didn't stop her at all but it did distract her.

"Sit down before you make your injury worse, child." Bullfrog said with all the gentleness Moonstar wished they'd use on her every now and then.

"No! You have to stop hurting Moonstar! She didn't choose to be a hybrid! And she is still so kind and caring even though you treat her like trash! I got myself hurt by the shark yesterday, Moonstar saved my life!" she defended boldly. "If it wasn't for her I wouldn't even be here!"

"I said….. ENOUGH!" Bullfrog's own tail struck out towards Euclase and she cried out as it hit her, slamming her into the wall. Suddenly nobody was cheering anymore. But Euclase was fast, and she managed to grip on to the weak point on Bullfrog's tail with her teeth, digging in hard enough that she screamed in pain, letting Moonstar go for one precious second.

Moonstar rolled out from under Bullfrog and began to run towards the door desperately trying to escape. However, her tail was grabbed just as she ran past the minder's table. "Nice try hybrid scum!" Charcoal growled.

"Am I interrupting?" A cool voice, one that Moonstar had never heard before, said from the door. She looked over to see a sand-coloured dragon with black diamond patterns down her back. She walked into the room and Moonstar could see she was surrounded by guards.

"Princess Blister." Descent mumbled, his face having gone white. Charcoal immediately let go of Moonstar's tail and she went tumbling to the floor.

"I heard," Blister continued on as if she hadn't even heard Descent, stepping further into the room, "that you were harboring a NightWing dragonet here. I wish to make use of its powers. Where are you hiding it?" she snarled.

Moonstar looked over to the spot where Fierceflight was, only to see that he had already been removed from the room. Bits of frost still remained on the floor as the only evidence he was there. Were they going to take him away?

"The NightWing is USELESS. He has none of his powers." Charcoal growled furiously. "If you're going to take anyone, better the one that no one will miss." His gaze slid over to Moonstar who gulped as the SandWing's impossibly black eyes followed.

"Please don't hurt me." Moonstar whimpered. The SandWing stepped closer, placing a talon under her chin and lifting it up, staring into her eyes and pawing at the weird star marking on her head.

"It's hideous." Blister decided eventually. "I have no room in my army for hybrids, especially not one as disgusting as this thing." She dropped Moonstar's head and headed back towards the entrance. "Clearly, it was a mistake to come here. I should have this place destroyed and all of you put to death for conspiring against me."

Suddenly she froze in place, seeing something. She turned, an evil smirk playing on her lips. "Or, you can give me that SeaWing. It would be an excellent fit for my new army."

Euclase gasped. "M-me?! You want to adopt me?" I don't wanna get adopted anymore! Not like this! Her thoughts cried out.

"Burn in Hell." Descent spat. "I'd rather die than give someone like YOU this SeaWing."

"We don't always get what we want." Blister said carelessly. "Sadly, I'm taking the SeaWing whether you like it or not." She made a swirling motion with her tail and the guards began lumbering into the room towards Euclase.

"No, wait. You can't take me! Not without Moonstar!" she cried, stumbling back in an attempt to escape from the guards but only tripping on her own injury and landing on the floor. One of the giant guards picked her up by the tail like she weighed nothing, and proceeded to drag her out of the room. Euclase's claws dug into the ground but was forced to let go as the guard just carelessly kept walking.

"Finally. It's such a fuss to adopt dragonets around here, honestly." Blister rolled her eyes. "Now I'm going to smell like a hybrid all day long."

"EUCLASE! NO!" Moonstar screamed, attempting to run after them all as they disappeared through the doorway, but Charcoal just pinned her down by the tail.

The moment Blister was gone, Charcoal forcibly spun Moonstar around to face him. "HOW DARE YOU GET IN THE WAY?" he yelled. Moonstar was too busy being sad about Euclase to worry about his screaming right now. Ugly tears rolled down her white cheeks and even Charcoal was weirded out by it. "Ugh.. just go to your room! We'll figure out what to do with you later."

Moonstar didn't have the energy to resist. Without Euclase she had nobody to defend her from the minders, after all. Instead, her tails and wings drooped as she walked out of the room, all the other dragons who had witnessed everything laughing after her. Maybe I really don't deserve good things… Why else would I have lost Euclase too?

She fell asleep crying.
