Summer Pt. 1
(Hermione's POV)
I arrive to Great Britain to finally go home. I missed my parents so I was happy to see them again. My street was a four point cross of roads with houses along each side of the roads, at the top of the street was a church that I always went to read because no one ever was up there. Crookshanks jumps on my backpack and lays half on it and half on my shoulder.
"Another eventful year Crookshanks, I've realized to always trust your instinct when it comes to people," I laugh, hearing him purr in my ear. He knew 'scabbers' was bad and knew Sirius was good. Maybe Ron was right, maybe there is something magical about Crookshanks.
I get to the front of my home and smile before opening the door.
"Mum?" I yell, already smelling food from the kitchen.
"Steak, potatoes and apple pie," my mum said, smiling at me when I walked in. She wipes her hands on her apron and hugs me.
"Your father has a gift for you upstairs, go on and check. Get unpacked and supper should be ready after," she smiles again before going back to the stove. Crookshanks jumps off my bag to the counter and sits, staring at her.
"Seems he has a new admirer," I laugh, "Mum?"
"Yes dear," she replies.
"Is it ok if I have a guest tonight?" I ask.
"Of course, just ask your father too," she says, taking the pie out of the oven. I race upstairs and drops my bags in my room. I turn the light on and see all the new bookshelves my father has built. I walk in and start touching the books.
"If it wasn't for your bed I could swear this was a library," he says, smiling at the doorway.
"Father!" I yell before running into a warm hug.
"You've grown," he says hugging me tight.
"I haven't," I laugh, stepping away from him. "Thanks for the shelves, it's a nice surprise."
"You work so hard, you deserved them," he says, "I'll see you at supper." He starts to walk away.
"Wait, is it okay if I have a guest over tonight? He wants to take me to Diagon Alley to show his future shop?" I ask, using my 'puppy dog' eyes.
"Who is this guest?" He questions.
"A boy from school, a friend from school," I say smiling.
"A boy huh?" He sighs.
"Please father?" I pleaded.
"Yes, yes, of course. Mother and I will be going next door to the Rogers for late night tea. Your mother has taking a liking to a sitcom and we've been watching it with them."
"Brilliant, thanks," I smile, putting my stuff away.
I finish putting all my things away and head down to eat with them. I go to the table and sit down.
"So, dad tells me that you met a boy?" My mom questions handing me my plate. She sits down and grabs a napkin from the table.
"He's friend from school," I laugh grabbing a fork.
"A friend?" My father says, suspiciously. "Monica, remember when I was just a 'friend' from school," he winks at my mum.
"Dad, stop it," I laugh.
"Ronald's dad came to visit recently, very interested with the telly. I'm so glad you introduced us to his family. I miss those twins of his, they know how to make your mum laugh," he smiles, taking a drink of water.
"Yes, he's really fascinated with all things Muggle related," I laugh. "Speaking of the twins actually," I start to say.
*Ding dong*
"Oh, sweetie, that must be your friend," dad says excitedly. My heart sake, he's early, I brush my fingers through my hair and walk to the front door. He opens the door.
"Hello Mr. Granger, I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy," he smiles, reaching his hand out to shake my dads. My smile fades and my body freezes like I've just been petrified.
"Hermione," he says, grabbing my hand and kissing it. He stares into my eyes for a moment.
"Well, aren't you a gentleman, come in come in," my dad says ushering him inside. Draco looks away from me and walks in the kitchen. I follow slowly and sit back down at the kitchen table. I look a Draco but he ignores my glaze. He starts to talk to my parents about his father and the dynasty that is the Malfoy's.
"I was actually wondering if I could steal Hermione for the evening, just to show her a new spot in Diagon Alley" Draco asked. Before I couldn't answer my dad replied.
"Of course, we have to be going anyway dear," my dad hints sounding eager to leave the conversation. He motions to the door and they walk over. My mum is putting on her coat.
"Honey, I can tell you were a bit off at dinner, are you okay?" She asked sincerely.
"No worries mum, nothing I can't handle," I smile, reassuringly. "Have a good time at the neighbors."
"Love you dear," she hugs me and my dad kisses my forehead and the door shuts.
I take a deep breath and turn around. Draco is already on the stairway walking upstairs. I follow him. He walks to my open doorway and walks in.
"Draco," I protest, "what on earth are you doing here?" He walks towards the books and starts to grab one.
"Nice, library, seems you're the same person in or out of school," he says. I walk over and grab the book putting it back on the shelf.
"How did you know where I lived?" I questioned.
"That's not important," he says. "What's important to me is why you invited Fred to come meet your parents?" He glares at me, fire in his eyes.
"What business is that of yours?" I snap. He grabs my arm, hard.
"What are you two a thing now?" He laughs.
"Let go of my arm," I demand.
"We are together Hermione," he says, gripping my arm tighter.
"No, we're not, you were cheating with Pansy," I say.
"You have no proof of that," he snapped.
"Your words and actions alone, is proof enough," I snap, pulling my arm away. "Get out." I start to walk away and he shoves me onto the floor. He gets on top of me and grabs my throat.
"You are pathetic," he yells. I try to scream but the grip was so hard, nothing came out. I try to break free but his legs are pinning my arms to the floor. I don't know how long he was choking me for but it felt like time froze, death felt close. Out of nowhere Crookshanks jumps on Draco's back and scratches his face with one swoop, hissing. Malfoy yells and grabs his eye. I get up quickly one hand on my throat and run to my luggage for my wand. I grab it and turn around but before I know it he has me against the wall and rips my wand out of my hand. He takes it in snaps it in half. He throws it against my wall.
"Help," I start to scream but he covers my mouth. He shoves his arm into my chest, "I suggest you be quiet and listen to me or this will get very ugly, very fast", he whispers so close to my face I feel the blood from his face rub on mine. I shove him back and then he takes my head and slams it in the corner of my bookcase, knocking books off the shelf. He does this one more time and I fall to the floor.
"Draco, stop," I plead, heart punching my chest. I grab my eye because I instantly feel it starting to swell. It was burning and my throat felt hoarse.
"Get up, mudblood. You brought this on yourself," he said angrily. I start to stand up and he just pushes me back down. I know he wants me to fight back so he can hit me so I don't. I want to run but if he catches me? I want to hit him back but, he is stronger than me physically so, I just sit there, silently. I see Crookshanks in the corner of my eye and I shake my head at him. I don't want him to get hurt too. I sit there quietly, for what felt like forever. I was looking at the ground, tears rolling down my face, soaking into my jeans. My mind was usually filled with so much and I usually could find a solution to anything but shockingly, it's empty.
He finally broke the thick silence.
"Get up Granger, we have someplace to be," he smiles an evil grin. He grabs my arm and shoves me towards the door. "Don't try anything stupid," he warns, pulling out his wand.
We walk out my front door and I look over to my neighbors house, I whisper, "I love you" to my parents. Draco pushes me towards the church at the top of my neighborhood. He tells me to get on his broom and I just stand there. He looks at me and I felt nothing from him. He just seemed empty, no sort of energy coming off of him. He puts his hand in my hair and stares at my face. "I really didn't mean to hurt you Hermione, I love you," he says, kissing my cheek, reaching for my eye. I wince and push his hand away softly. "Get on the broom," he demands. I smile at him before punching him as hard as I could. He fell back onto the ground, grabbing his now, bloody nose. I grab his broom and race into the woods. I look up at the moon and whisper to the wind.
Merlin, Help me.
