Some Zary and Rebekah moments ahead! Very sweet ending!
Zary's POV
"We had a deal! You protect my unborn niece and nephew while Elijah is plotting, I dismantle Marcel's army. And whilst I've been busy fulfilling my part of the bargain, you allowed Zary to be attacked and almost killed by a gaggle of lunatic witches."
I was sitting across from Sophie Deveraux, playing with the end of my dress as my sister squeezes my thigh and continues to glare at the witch. I'm so scared of what mom said, who's been resting with Frank today. I didn't know what I did to those witches. I had to know why these werewolves are connected to me and maybe I can find out what I did that night or how I was able to shoot light out of my hand.
"I had nothing to do with it, I swear. Zary and I are linked, remember? She dies, I die," Sophie says, panicked and worried as she looks at me and my sister.
"Then who were they?" Rebekah asked, sitting down next to me on my left and taking one of my fidgeting hands.
"They are a faction of extremists. Sabine stupidly told them about some vision she had about the babies," Sophie admits and my eyes widen as my hand flies to my growing bump.
"What kind of vision?" I asked, worried for my children as she rolled her eyes at us.
"She has them all the time. They are totally open to interpretation. I'm guessing she's wrong on this one," Sophie says, not getting to the point.
Klaus, who is standing behind us on the couch and is leaning between Zarina and I, says, "Well, how, may I ask, was this particular vision interpreted?"
Sophie pauses for a moment and says, "Pretty much that the babies would bring death to all witches."
"What?" I said, finally for the first time since the night my mom almost died and I apparently saved us while I blacked out.
"Ah, well. I grow fonder of these children by the second," Klaus says, smirking down at me for a moment then at my sister, who avoids looking at him...
Weird.
Rebekah sighed, clasping her hands together as she let go of my hand and said, "Sophie, look- I promised Elijah that I would protect his miracle-babies whilst he tries to win your witch Davina's loyalty. Why don't you tell me just how extreme this faction is?"
Sophie, shocked, looks at us with big eyes before saying, "Elijah's talking to Davina?"
"Yeah. As we speak, I imagine."
"I'm guessing she'll have plenty to say about that crowd," Sophie says, shaking her head as she looked down at the ground for a moment. I tried getting into her mind, but it was mumbled in Latin. Why do witches do that?
Klaus nods his head as he says, "Do tell."
Sophie nods her head, licking her lips for a moment before saying, "I... wasn't always an advocate for the witches. My sister was devoted, like our parents, and our upbringing was very strict, which drove me nuts. The minute I turned twenty-one, I left the Quarter to travel... and play." She continued telling the story, but mentioned a Harvest, making my eyebrows shoot up.
"What's a Harvest?" Zarina asks, interrupting the witch's story.
"It's a ritual our coven does every three centuries so that the bond to our ancestral magic is restored. We appease our ancestors, they keep our ancestral power flowing. It always seemed like a myth. A story, passed on through generations like Noah's ark, or the Buddha walking on water. The kind some people take literally, and some people don't. They had the girls of our community preparing for months. Four would be chosen for the Harvest. They said that it was an honor, that they were special. I thought it was a myth," Sophie explained, sighing afterwards as if she failed someone.
"Was it?" Rebekah asked.
Sophie looks guilty, but before she can say anything, Klaus's cell phone rings and he looks down at the phone, before answering as he pointed at Sophie to stop talking. "Marcel. Bit early in the day for you, isn't it?" After a bit of talking about going to the Bayou, Klaus hangs up the phone.
"You can't go out there now. I need to gather the witches' remains and consecrate them. If I don't get to them before sundown, we'll lose the link to their magic," Sophie says as if her life, which is linked to mine and my children's life, didn't matter.
"Those witches tried to kill Zary and her mother. I'd prefer for Marcel's informant not to find anything that would lead him back to us, to her, or to... you know..." He trails off before pointing at my belly. "Those things."
"Wow. Classy," Zarina says, trying not to laugh at him as he just gives her a brief smile and shakes his head. My eyebrows furrowed at their interaction. Weird.
"Stay put. And save the rest of your story 'til I return."
I sit on my bed for a moment, Thinking about Elijah and what Sophie said. My children was... I couldn't bare to think of them that way. I didn't want them to be told like a scary bedtime story. I wasn't going to allow anyone or thing to hurt them. Which I guess is true since I apparently saved my mom and I from those witches. I stopped thinking for a moment as I heard a knock and Rebekah poke her head inside with a small smile, bringing pickles and cookie dough ice cream. I smile at her as she says, "Well, I brought you cravings. Gross ones. Are you sure you're not plotting to make my niece and nephew gross?"
I giggle as she sits next to me and shake my head as I say, "Technically it's what they want. Not me. I'm just giving my babies what they deserve." Rebekah laughs with a small smile as she hands me my ice cream first and I take the spoon, eating it. She watches me and I don't say anything for awhile, before I do, "I don't know what happened that night. If that's what you're seeking."
"Well, yes it's that, but..." She trails off before sighing and saying, "I'm just wondering about you and my brother, the good one. How'd you end up here and how'd you meet him."
I bite my lip as I think about it for a moment and nod my head. "I won't hurt him, if anything, I think he'll hurt me in the end." She opened her mouth to interrupt as I shake my head and continue, "And I came to New Orleans to visit my dying grandmother. Who passed away before I was kidnapped."
"What about how you two met? Don't tell me it was on the street," She teased, making me giggle as I shake my head.
"It was when I was at New York. I was finishing up college there. We met at a bar and he came up to me, started to ask if I was a poet or something. But it was like... magic. I felt drawn to him." I smile as I look up at his sister, who is smiling at me. "It wasn't just his charm or good looks. But I don't know how to explain it. Anyway," I cleared my throat. "We spent the night and morning together before he had to leave. Traded numbers with each other and every day at some point we'd just talk on the phone for hours."
"Sounds like the beginning of a love story," She says and I shrug my shoulders, making her furrow her eyebrows.
"I-I... I don't know if he even likes me for me. Not me for being pregnant with his kids."
"Well, that's silly," Rebekah said, raising her eyebrows as I roll mine and look at the fidgeting hands. "Trust me," She grabs my hands and makes me look at her. "He definitely likes you."
I walk in the cemetery with my little sister and Frank, wanting to talk to Sophie about my babies and the wolf that keeps following me. My eyebrows furrowed as Zarina put her hands on her hips and Frank crossed his arms over his chest when we saw Sophie packing various bottles of ingredients into her backpack, when we enter. Sophie looks up and frowns at us as she says, "Hey. What the hell?"
"You're going out there anyway, aren't you? I wanna go with you," I say, taking a step inside with my sister and step-father following me. Frank sighed as I knew he didn't even want me to leave the mansion by myself. But I needed to find out some information. Especially for my babies.
"We wanna go with you," Frank said, stepping in front of me and making me sigh.
"No, thanks. Already got assaulted by Klaus this morning. Don't need a repeat.'
"You need us if things go sideways," I said, hoping to get to the point as the witch rolled her eyes at me.
"Sorry if I'm not buying your sudden concern for my safety." She goes to walk around us when Zarina steps in front of her, crossing her arms over her chest and glaring at the witch.
I walked over to Sophie as she looks at me and I say, "Listen, I came to this town for my grandma. Come to find out after she passed, that I'm pregnant with twins and you're linked to me."
"We can't have you killed," Frank says, narrowing his eyes at the witch. Rebekah walks in to the mausoleum and joins us, rolling her eyes.
"Could you guys be more idiotic?" She asked, raising her eyebrows as I rolled my eyes at her before giving her a small smile, which she returns. "Two can play the follow-game, you know! You heard Klaus, he and Marcel are headed right where you're going."
"So distract them. Because unless you wanna lock a hormonal, pregnant redhead in a tomb, I'm coming with you. And wouldn't Elijah be mad if he hears that the babies and I died of asphyxiation?"
We're trekking through the woods, looking for the dead witches. I look around, smelling something foul in the area, but ignore it as Frank holds my head to make sure I don't fall. Zarina is behind me as Sophie and Rebekah walk ahead, looking around.
"So, this Harvest thingy—- tell me more," Rebekah begins, looking behind her to smile at me and Frank before glaring at Sophie.
Sophie huffs as she replies, "Klaus said to wait."
"Yes. He also said to stay out of the bayou and yet here we are, amongst the crawly, buzzy creatures." Rebekah huffs as she looks around, before we all stopped upon seeing the beaten and bloody area of dead witches. I freeze shaking as I felt like barfing at the burnt bodies. They were either burnt or impaled by a tree. Half their faces melted.
"What the..." Sophie began, feeling amazed at the burnt bodies. We all freeze when we heard a crunch and swiftly turned around, only to see a scrawny man with a blue plaid shirt. His eyes widen upon the scene before landing on Rebekah.
"What the hell? An Original?"
It's night time by the time Sophie is done doing her witchy thing and I follow her to her truck, biting my bottom lip as I look at my swelled belly, carrying my twins. "Those people, all this, because of a vision about my babies you don't think is true?" I asked, wondering if I really should be worried about this or not.
Sophie sighs, looking at me before saying, "Look, I love Sabine, but she's the witch equivalent of a drama queen. I've learned to take little stock in whatever she says or sees. Just kinda wish she'd kept her mouth shut." She throws in her backpack as I watch and nod my head.
"The Harvest ritual- you said you didn't believe in it. Were you right?" I asked, feeling nervous as I rest my hands on my belly.
Sophie shook her head as she said, "No. I saw it with my own eyes. It was working. It was real."
"So, how can you be so sure Sabine's vision isn't?"
Rebekah pours several drinks as she talks to Zarina and I as I watch my mother cooking in the kitchen not too far away. She gives me a bright smile as Frank hugs her from behind and kisses her on the neck a few times. I smile at them, but quickly frown as I realize something. They had to uproot themselves to come here to help me. Same with Zarina and it's been a few months. Mom and Frank work on their laptops and do work at home part time now. Because I'm always in danger and-
"Earth to Zary!" Rebekah said to me, waving her hand in my face for a moment before she smiles as I look at her. "Did you hear a thing I said?"
"Sorry... No?" I said, making her shake her head as Zarina took a drink from Rebekah and giggled at me.
"I said, I don't care if we have to get you a leash, that was your last trip to the Bayou. What is it with you and those wolves, anyway?" She said, pouring herself another drink as I shrug my shoulders.
"I feel like we're connected somehow, but I don't understand how as in I'm not a werewolf or anything," I shrugged and she nodded her head. Then, she offered me a drink before I side-eye her and raise an eyebrow.
"Oh, right. Babies," She said, before taking a swig of the drink and I shook my head. She smiles at me and is about to say something when the door opens, revealing Klaus. "Nik, finally! What–-" She began, but stopped walking as Elijah walks through the door afterwards with a huge smile. I give him a small smile as I decide to give him some privacy with his siblings. I walk towards the back porch, hugging myself as I did, hearing footsteps come closer to me.
I swiftly turn around to see him following me and then he was right in front of me. I bite back a smile as I hug myself and say, "You're back."
"I'm back," He says, smiling at me before looking down at how big I've gotten for four months pregnant with his children. Then, he gives me a big smile, showing off his teeth as he looks at me.
"That's-that's good. I was worried you wouldn't return," I bite my lip, again as I fidget with my hands and avoid looking at him. But he grabs my hands and holds them gently. "I..." My nerves got the best of me before I finally spat it out, avoiding is eyes as I did. "You don't have to feel anything for me. Just because I'm pregnant with your kids. I-I-"
"What if it wasn't just because you're pregnant with... wait, kids?" He asked, baffled before giving me a smile as I look up at him. Then, he licks his lips before saying, "I care about you and our children. I care about you, not only because you're carrying my children. But because of you're heart." I sniff, crying softly and wipe my eyes as he chuckles and says, "Why are you crying?" Then, he rests his forehead against mine.
"Because I'm happy."
After Elijah told my family and his about Sophie Deveraux and the Harvest, he and I went to my room. I was currently in a night gown as he was in black sweats and a gray shirt. We were lying in my bed as he held me in his arms, holding my hand that was resting on my belly as his right hand twirled a piece of my red locks. I smiled in content, before I turned on my side and sighed. I was looking at him as he gazed into my bright blue eyes, gusting up the courage to tell him something. "So... we're having twins and they're a boy and a girl."
He smiled down at me, caressing my cheek with his hand like I was something precious and he nodded his head. "I was thinking... I have a name for the boy, but couldn't come up with the girl's name. Too many to choose from."
"What are you thinking?" He asked, smiling at me.
"Well. I was thinking Konnor with an K instead of a C. It means some who loves wolves." He arched an eyebrow at me, his eyes flickering around my facial features and eyes. "I thought since I love the name, Konnor, and since you love your brother, Klaus, who's part wolf, that it would be fitting. And there's like some guardian wolf out there, watching me," I explained, drawing patterns on his shirt as he listened for a moment. Then, he tipped my chin up to face him and he had the most beautiful smile on his face.
"I love Konnor." Then, he pulled me into a soft kiss, fireworks exploding around as I cupped his cheek. He pulled away for a moment, resting his hands on my belly.
"And his name could be Henrik Thomas. After your youngest brother and my father," I said, smiling as he shakes his head. "What? Are they bad?"
"No. I love it. Konnor Henrik Thomas Mikaelson," He says, humming at the end before I giggle, nodding my head and rub my belly. "What about the girl?"
"I don't know. I have a list, but can't think of anything to pin point," I say, sighing as he nods his head before an idea flashes in his head. "What?"
"What about... Angel? I know it can be used as either gender, but... She's like a little angel as her brother is like a wolf?" He says, trailing off as he watches my expression and I nod my head with a bright smile.
"I love that name... What if we combine our sisters names?" I said, wondering if that would work. "Zarina Rebekah? So it'd be Angel Zarina Rebekah Mikaelson?" I asked, smiling as he nods his head as if that was perfect. Then, he slides down the bed to rest his head softly against my bigger bump, making me lay on my back as I giggle at him.
He kisses my pregnant belly before saying to it as he caresses my belly, "I can't wait to meet you two... Konnor and Angel."
