His nose burned from how awful the small room smelt, and it would probably be enough to make him puke if he still had anything left in his stomach. He could barely even manage to walk around. with all the clutter and muck in his way.

He wanted out. He wanted out, he wanted out now, and he was determined to find a way.

The door was still locked, but he would find a way.

When he left Satella's world after being eaten alive by the rabbits, Subaru was brought back to Japan BUT he was kidnapped and stuck in a tiny room with no windows or a way out with just a door that was locked.

He had been there for 20 days with barley any food and water.

He was losing his mind.

He started sifting around the room again, looking for anything that may be able to assist him in his escape, at all, please, please, he couldn't stay in here much longer-

Maybe the wall? Maybe there was a hollow spot in the wall? He walked over to one of the walls, knocking on different spots, trying to hear if any sounded different, sounded hollow.

He spent a while doing this.

His eyes widened a bit upon finding a spot that indeed, sounded different from the other spots. Oh, how he hoped this would work.

He messed around with the phone in his hands, unsure of whether he should set it down for this or not. He decided, he would continue holding it.

He readied himself, deep, shaky breaths, "N-ngh-!" before ramming one arm into the wall, giving a pained grunt as he did so. He backed up a bit, and did it again. And again. And again. And kept it up 'til his arm was sore and bruised up, eyes tearing up some from the aching in his arm.

"LET ME OUT! LET ME OUT! LET ME OUT! LET ME OUT! LET ME OUT! LET ME OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTT"

He had to stop for a bit to catch his breath. Looking up at the spot he'd been hitting, he nearly grinned at the sight of the wall starting to break. Yes. Yes, YES!

He rised again, quickly getting back to work, hitting and hitting again, first with his arms and shoulders, then his fists, the wall gradually falling apart.

Until it was finally enough to go through.

He went to leave, giddy to get out of place, but turned back, grabbing an Emilia doll he had made a long while ago, and gently placing it at the other side of the hole in the wall. His only source of his memories deserved a chance to leave, too.

He then crawled over to the other side after that, scurrying out as quick as he could, turning around for a moment to look back at the room, before facing forward again to look ahead.

Hopefully this leads to a way out.

He started crawling. And he kept crawling, stoping occasionally to remove the splinters that caught in his hands and legs. The ones he could actually reach, at least. This place was so cramped. It was, a little difficult to crawl through.

He crawled for so long. So, so long. Until he saw something.

Until he saw light. Light, shining through the small cracks in the wood. Not very bright, but it was visible enough. He heard things on the other side too. He heard crickets chirping, and frogs croaking, and wind, oh, he could hear the wind, and he could feel it, too, feel it through the cracks in the wood.

Outside.

He had never wanted to be outside as badly as he did now.

He looked down at his bruised hands, and got to work again. Bringing one fist back as far as he could, and slamming it against the wood. And then he did it again. He repeated the process, not as long as he had to last time, but long enough. And then it broke down. A bit smaller and sharper than the last, he would have to force himself through, and it would hurt, but he could do it.

He crawled to it, and tried putting his arms through first, planting them firmly on the ground, and digging them into the dirt, pulling himself, dragging himself through, feeling the sharp bits dig into his sides and into his back and gut, whimpering at the pain, but continuing, continuing until he finally dragged himself to the other side.

He did it. He did it, he got out, he finally got out.

He was free.

He breathed in, deeply. It smelt so much better out here. And there was so much room, and he could breathe again. He looked up at the sky, that dark, dark blue sky. Just sat there, and stared. And he smiled. Oh, he smiled.

He smiled until he didn't.

And then he started thinking. And everything dawned on him, everything that has happened dawned down on him, and he felt a cold sick feeling in his stomach, bubbling and driving him mad, making him nauseous. He felt like he was choking, and his eyes got cloudy. And he cried. Tears poured from his eyes, and he hunched over, curling into himself. He sobbed. He sobbed until his eyes were burning and sore, and until his throat was raw, and even then he kept crying, he kept crying until he couldn't anymore, eventually quieting down into small, frequent sniffles and rough coughs, and then that calmed into near total silence.

He stared down at the ground, at himself. Staring, for who knows how long.

And then he got up, and started walking.

After about a mile or so walking he was getting tired.

Before he could stop, he made it to the road in which he was losing consciousness but not before seeing sirens in the distance with a blue figure coming towards him.

"WE NEED A Medic ov—"

Subaru then blacked out.

Kenichi was in his room alone. There was no light inside. The curtains were closed. A bottle in his hand he was just staring at the empty wall. His eyes were tired and they were black circles around them. After Subaru's disappearance, Kenichi found his relief in the bottle. He had lost his form and now looking like a fragile doll.

While Naoko was in her room. After Subaru's disappearance, Naoko couldn't even look at her husband anymore. Because they had a quite resembles each other. Subaru only got her eyes other than that he was nearly a copy of his father and that broke Naoko. They separated their rooms. Naoko always tried to avoid Kenichi at all costs. She hadn't left her room in months now. There was no laid-back Naoko everyone knew. That person was long gone.

It started like all the other days. Kenichi waking up and starting to make breakfast for himself and his wife. He knew how she hated to see him anymore so he put the plates in front of her room and knocked on the door. He didn't even talk to her because he knew how much she will hurt. He sat down at the table and looked down to his meal. He looked at it like a straight three minutes before he got up and tossed it into the trash. He opened the fridge. He took a bottle of whiskey and sat down again. Before he knew it the bottle was half empty. He looked at his empty glass. Before he can fill it again his phone started to ring. It has been so long that someone ever called him but he never hated that. It was much more of a blessing. He remembered the first month of Subaru's disappearance. Everyone on earth has called them and talked like they could understand them. How could they? There was no way they could. That's why he hated it. Every time his phone rings he could feel the rage inside of him. He answered the call and took the phone to his ear.

"Natsuki Kenichi?" The voice asked.

"Yes I'm Natsuki Kenichi." Kenichi spat some venom at the person he was speaking to. This has to be something about the debt they are in he thought.

"We need you and your wife to come to Great Central Hospital as soon as possible. We have maybe found your son but we need confirmations and since he is unconscious we can't get the answers from him." The man at the other side of the line explained.

"What did you say?" Kenichi was frozen solid.

"I said we need a confirmation, we found a boy that fits the description of Natsuki Subaru near your son's grave" the man explained once more.

Kenichi felt dizzy and his stomach was killing him. He knew he had to be strong. For his wife and his long-gone son.

"We will be on our way," Kenichi informed the guy with an excited tone.

He sprinted towards the Naoko's room and banged to the door.

The noise waked up Naoko. She was looking at the door.

"Hospital called they found some boy who looked like Subaru. We have to go Naoko!" Kenichi explained while a higher voice than normal.

"What!" Naoko screamed and she opened her room's door in an instant.

She was looking like a mess. Her hair was a mess. Her eyes were a mess, but a sight of hope was visible in her eyes.

They both got to their car and drove to the hospital...

Kenichi and Naoko got into the room. Two men were waiting for them. Naoko rushed and saw the boy in the bed. He was her boy. Her little boy she had always been so fond of. But then She looked closely. Did that boy was her precious one. He looked nothing like before. He was more muscular like his father in the past. There were dark circles around his eyes like he hasn't slept in decades. And most importantly why was he looking like he was dead? From the outer perspective, everyone would think that the boy was not sleeping and rather he was dead. To be able to sleep this emotionless. What has he been through?

"Is he dead?" Naoko slowly walked towards the bed.

"He's alive and he's stable for now" Doctor next to Subaru talked with assuring tone.

"Why is my Subaru looking like a corpse then!" Naoko screamed with all her might. A scream filled with regret and sorrow.

Everyone in the room looked down at the sight of this poor mother.

"We don't know yet but we are pretty sure he is traumatized the scars on his body prove that." the doctor once again spoke.

Both Naoko and Kenichi looked up at the same time.

"This boy has been brought up this morning. Police found him unconscious at night on a nearby Highway and brought him here." The man explained.

"There was a serious wound at his arm and it looked like he had done this to himself. Not only that but he had blood coming from his legs as well as a bit on his head."

"There is no way my son would ever hurt himself." Kenichi was getting aggressive. He couldn't believe his son would do something like that.

"I'm sorry to give you this kinda news but I guess it would be better to see for yourselves. Come closer please." The man asked the couple in a pleading tone.

The duo got closer to the sleeping Subaru in hospital robes. The doctor slowly untied the rope that hold robes. After undressing Subaru in front of his parents. He can feel all the emotions that were coming.

Subaru was laying at the bad completely naked. There were scars all over his body. Cuts scratch bruises. there was no clean spot. Some of them were older. Some of them were healed not for long ago but in the end, they were real. All of then was Subaru's habit of self-harm. His hate for himself. His desire for a single second of relief continued all eternity.

Naoko and Kenichi were looking at their lovely son or what was left of it. How could they let that happen? What kinda parents they were. Letting their child down so many times that he now seeks relief in self-harm. The couple's eyes were watery now.

"What should we do now," Kenichi asked the doctor with tears in his eyes.

"You should be waiting here for him to wake up." The doctor looked at the couple and then turned to the boy.

"Don't drown him in questions when he wakes up." The doctor gave his expert opinion before leaving the room.

Kenichi and Naoko looked at their boy. Who is looking like nothing more than a corpse...

Then they heard something.

"Mom... Dad….." Subaru mumbled.

A plea for help.

It was a quiet yet powerful one. Subaru was now having nightmares. He was torturing by the mind himself. That man he hated to death. He was mumbling to himself. He was in pain.

Kenichi and Naoko looked at their son before taking his hands. He looked like a broken chewed-up toy that has no use anymore. That broke the Natsuki family once again.

They both holding Subaru's hand to calm him down. Naoko started to hymns. Subaru was now quiet. He was still looking like a corpse but the warmth of his hand was real

The fact that Natsuki Family once again together was enough to fill them with hope.

After all, Subaru was with them at the end.
