And this is officially my favorite book I've written.

Zary's POV

"Mom!" I said, currently sitting on my bed as my mom wiggles her eyebrows and Zarina giggles at me, both sitting on the bed. Mom was currently trying to be nosey as well as Zarina after Eli left the room to go through his mother's grimoire. I didn't really know what to tell them.

"What? You guys have been hidden away together since he came back. Are you two together?" Mom asked, making me shake my head as I let out a small laugh.

"I don't know. I think so," I said, causing my mom and sister to bounce on the bed in glee. I roll my eyes at them before saying, "I'm hungry. I'm going to the kitchen now." I quickly get off the bed as my sister follows me as I walk down the steps and pass by the study, ignoring the apparent vampire book club that is going on between Elijah and Klaus. Well, except for my sister.

"Oh, gross!" She exclaims, staring at the dead woman on the coffee table with a scrunched up face. She points to it then looks at Klaus with raised eyebrows, who chuckles at her. "Clean up the body before I barf like a pregnant girl!"

"Zarina, come on. I'm starving," I said, grabbing her arm and dragging her away before narrowing my eyes at Klaus, who is giving my sister the googly eyes. He rolls his eyes as he continues reading some fancy book and I drag my sister in the kitchen, before shutting the door and facing her. "What are you doing, sis?" I demanded.

"What am I doing?" She repeats, scrunching up her face in confusion.

"Yes. With Klaus," I said, eyebrows raised as she rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. Not giving me an answer, I say, "You shouldn't do whatever you are doing with him. It's dangerous."

"Oh, don't be a hypocrite. You and Elijah-" She began, fighting off a blush as I interrupted her.

"Elijah is different. He doesn't lose his temper like he does. He doesn't just kill for fun anymore. Klaus is more unpredictable than Elijah. For heck's sake, he's put his family in coffins for decades because they upset him," I explained, watching as her face fell and her eyes glossed over as she hugged herself. I sigh, resting a hand on her shoulder saying, "I just don't want you to get hurt, sis. You deserve better."

She sighs, nodding her head before turning around and leaving the kitchen. I bite my lip and hug myself after she's gone and turn away to look for breakfast. After getting a bowl and spoon with cereal, I look through the fridge. But huff as I can't see the milk and turn to find Elijah leaning against the doorway looking at me. "We need milk," I say, hoping he didn't hear my conversation with my sister.

"Speaking of; add bleach," Rebekah says, dragging a big trashcan behind her through the back door.

Elijah walks up to me as I lean against the counter and says, "You know, I do hope my siblings were hospitable to you in my absence."

I give him a small smile as I say, "In your absence, as you like to call it- which is a way-too-polite way of saying that your brother put a dagger in your heart-" I smile upon seeing him pour some cereal in a bowl. "I have been attacked by French Quarter vampires, I've had to live in a house with a secret dungeon full of coffins, and I was nearly murdered by witches who are convinced my babies are Lucifer." I watch as he goes to the fridge and pulls out orange juice and milk, making me blush in embarrassment as I nod my head when he starts to fill my cereal bowl with milk. "And there it is."

"There it is, indeed," He teases, making me shake my head at him.

"They've been fine. Your siblings are weirdly protective, I know I have you to thank for that," I finally said, smiling as he nodded his head at me. "Especially Klaus."

"I'm just happy to see that you're in one piece, He replies, smiling at me as I start to eat my cereal and he leans his back against the counter. "So, back to the murderous witches. I have some concerns."

"They're evil. And, my babies life is still magically linked to Sophie Deveraux, which is not comforting," I said after swallowing.

"Yes, I think it's time we took care of that little problem."

Rebekah suddenly re-enters the kitchen, dragging the corpse of the girl Klaus killed across the floor behind her and making me arch an eyebrow at her. "I am all for it. As soon as they're unlinked, we get to leave this crap town. Who do we have to kill?" She asked, going outside.

We pause for a moment as if thinking and he says, "Probably no one..." I give him a look as I raise an eyebrow and he chuckles before he rolls his eyes and sighs. "Alright, potentially everyone"

Third Person POV

Klaus was sitting on the couch reading, "If Only There Was Music..." by Nonnie Jules, as Rebekah scrubs at the bloodstains in the carpet. His sister snorts as she says, "Looks like your in love. How dreary." He just rolls his eyes and ignores her before putting it down as Zarina comes into the room and furrows her eyebrows.

"Glad someone cleaned up the body," She says, hugging herself and ignoring Klaus, which makes him narrow his eyes at her. He heard what her sister said about him, making him want to strangle the pregnant redhead, but he understood Zary in a way. She was protective of her little sister almost like he was of Rebekah. Still, it hurt him in a way, but he would never admit to it. "Is there more problems now?" Zarina asked.

"Nonsense. Elijah's back. In his presence, all problems turn to pixie-dust and float away!" Klaus says, smirking as Zarina let's out a small giggle before clearing her throat. Rebekah arches an eyebrow as she looks between Zarina and him, slowly putting the pieces together.

Elijah walks in the room and says, "Strange, I don't recall any pixie-dust from the darkness of the coffin I was recently forced to endure." He walks over to the end table and opens Esther's grimoire and flips through it.

"What are you doing with Mother's spell book?" Rebekah asks as Zarina furrows her eyebrows.

"Well, in exchange for my freedom, I promised the witch Davina that I would share a few pages from Mother's grimoire. To help her learn to control her magic. I thought we'd begin with a little unlinking spell," He says, making Zarina smile in relief and finally lock eyes with Klaus for a moment, but it was short lived when she turned her head to look away.

"Wait, you want to use her to unlink Zary from Sophie Deveraux?" Rebekah asked, eyebrows furrowed as she looked at her older brother.

"Sophie brought us here under false pretenses. She doesn't just want us to take down Marcel and his minions, she wants to take Davina back. So, she yoked her own cause to ours with magic, threats, and half-truths. Well, no more. As of now, our deal with Sophie Deveraux is null and void," He says, eyes narrowing as he tears a few pages from the book. His siblings share a smile before he says, "Niklaus, I need you to come with me. I need five minutes alone with Davina. You need to make certain that I am not interrupted." He points to Rebekah and thinks for a moment before giving his order. "You stay here and watch Zary."

He turns to leave them, but Zarina pipes up and says, "I wanna come with you two. See if I can help in anyway." Elijah pauses and nods his head with a small smile.

"How did I get elected super-nanny?" Rebekah said, annoyed.

"More importantly, who put him in charge?"

Zarina's POV

I sigh as I stand next to Klaus, arms folded and staring at the spot my sister's baby daddy was last. We're currently inside the church and leaning against the railing. My anxiety has spiked since Elijah left me with Klaus and I haven't been able to think straight since my sister told me to basically not get involved with Klaus. Who's standing right next to me and I could feel his eyes staring into me, like he's staring into my very soul. It irks me to think about my sister and how she's probably right.

"What's on your mind?" Klaus asks, interrupting my thoughts. I sigh and shake my head, staring at the railing. "Is it about your sister?" He asked, making me pause for a moment and then I sigh, again.

"Well..." I trail off, feeling my throat close up before I cleared it. "How much did you hear?"

"All of it..." He says, making me look over at him as he leans against the rail and faces me. "She's right, you know. I have a temper. I kill people. I hurt people. I'm impulsive."

"I know," I said, after a brief moment of silence before I give him a small smile as he frowns at me. "I just keep thinking that maybe you'll change. Maybe I can help you and help the good side of you come out..." I bite my lip as he tilts his head and I huff, shaking my head. "But that's not healthy for me. Especially after what my ex did to me."

"What did he do?" He asked, eyes growing dark like he was going to murder someone.

"Nothing."

Liar.

"What happened?" Elijah demanded upon us three entering Rousseau's to check up on Sophie, only for my anxiety to spike at seeing the place destroyed and Sabine groaning on the ground.

He helped her stand as she said, "It was Agnes." She rubs head and groans as she looks around. "Her men took Sophie."

Klaus sighs as I hug myself and he says, "Day one with you in charge, brother, and already the witch linked to Hayley has been abducted by zealots."

"Where is she?" Elijah asked, looking like he was going to try to contain his anger.

"If I tell you where Agnes is, you'll just kill her," Sabine snapped, glaring at us.

"Isn't that quite obvious?" Elijah snapped, glaring at her as Klaus smirked.

"Look, I know she's a little... coo-coo, but she's our last living Elder. That might not mean a lot to you, but it means plenty to us. The Elders are the only ones who can do important spells," She said and it clicked in my mind.

"Like completing the Harvest ritual?" I said, narrowing my eyes at her as she furrowed her eyebrows at me.

"You know about that?" She asked, pointing to us as I roll my eyes.

"Oh, you'd be astounded by the things we know," Elijah says, his voice coming out almost like a hiss.

Klaus starts to walk towards Sabine with a smirk as he says, "Allow me to entertain you with today's list of priorities."

"Unlink your friend Sophie so she no longer controls the fate of the woman carrying my children," Elijah said, walking next to his brother.

"Two, convince my brother to accept my heartfelt apologies for some recently dodgy behavior. Three...there is no three," Klaus says, making me smile in relief that he's helping us.

"Now talk."

Zary's POV

I was sitting on the chair in the study, reading an ancient book about banshees, trying to figure out what the hell I am. But this book wasn't giving me anything that was related to me. I sigh, shutting it as I rub the spot on my neck that felt like I got stabbed. It was starting to ache a little, but I figured it could be anything. Rebekah smiles, coming in with a basket of apples and says, "Time for the prince and princess to have a snack!" I let out a laugh as she holds out the basket and I take an apple.

"I feel fine, besides a small ache on my neck... which is weird. I'm sure it's Sophie-related," I said, referring to earlier when I was bleeding for a moment.

"Then, do me a favor, and don't die on my watch. I'll never hear the end of it," She teased, making me smile at her.

"You know, you're a pretty good sister and friend," I said, smiling up at her as she chuckles and shakes her head. "Thank you for trying to keep us safe."

"Remember it when I'm gone," She says, confusing me for a moment.

"Gone? Where are you going?" I asked, eyebrows furrowed.

"I only came to town to make sure everything was okay with Elijah. He's fine, and he hasn't punished Klaus for daggering him, so... as usual, they'll be thick as thieves, and I'll be left to clean up the mess. It's time for me to fly the coop," She explains and I frown at that, before giving her a small smile of reassurance. Feeling awkward, I go to bite the apple in my hand, but I suddenly starts to feel woozy before I could take a bite.

Rebekah frowns, concerned as she says, "What's wrong?"

"I dunno, probably morning sickness..." I said, my mouth opening and closing for a moment as I felt really hot for a second.

Rebekah's eyebrows furrowed as she feels my forehead and says, "Oh, you're burning up, actually."

I groan as I lie in bed with just a tank top and shorts, feeling hotter than anything. Rebekah sighs as she pats my head with a cold wash cloth and says, "Stop fussing, will you? Elijah will be here any minute."

"I feel like I've been microwaved."

"Hey! Just because you're carrying two babies doesn't mean you get to act like one! I'm sure my little niece and nephew are healing you up as we speak," She says with a small smile as I try to smile to her in return. Rebekah turns when she hears Eli and he runs in with Sophie, but notice that she is appalled by the sight of the witch.

"What the hell is she doing here?" Rebekah snapped as Elijah quickly came beside me and looked at me with concern.

"I'm trying to help."

"Help? You're the reason we're in this bloody mess! Why aren't we unlinked with this witch already, Elijah?" She asked, clearly angry as she looked behind her at Elijah.

"Rebekah, let her do what she can."

"I may know a way to slow the fever down. But, I'm gonna need some special herbs." Sophie turns and looks at Rebekah. "I'll text you a list." Elijah nods at her in encouragement, and though Rebekah does not look pleased to be being ordered around again, she eventually relents and smiles at them patronizingly before throwing the washcloth at her brother.

"Fine. Happy to play the fetch girl."

I shiver as the fever doesn't light up as I have my arms wrapped around my knees, getting more worried by the moment. We're currently outside by the pool and my mother is no where to be found as Elijah told me she was looking for Agnes with Klaus and Zarina. Which surprised me, only a little, that Klaus was working hard to find a way to help me and my babies as well as my mom working with him. Frank was standing next to Rebekah as they watched me with concern.

"She's burning up! We need to do this now," Elijah said, worried as he felt my forehead again.

"Get her in the water!" Sophie yells, worried as she hops in the pool. He follows shortly, not caring about his suit as he helps me into the pool, making me uncomfortable even more so.

"I don't see how a midnight swim is supposed to help," Rebekah snapped as I leaned heavily on Eli, whining as the pain was getting worse.

"Her temperature is sky-high. The water, with the help of the herbs, should cool us down." Sophie hands me a herbal concoction. "Drink this!" I follow her orders, wincing at the sour taste as she turns to Elijah. "You're going to have to get her heart rate down."

"How do you suggest I do that?" He asks, hugging me to him as I gripped his button up shirt tightly.

"Hold her. It's a natural human remedy to slow the heart rate and reduce blood pressure," Sophie explains before Eli picks me up and holds me to his chest bridal-style.

"Davina will break the link, we just need time." I quickly cling to Eli as he dips my head back into the water to help cool me down. We do this on repeat for what feels like an hour, before it becomes hard for me to breathe and I start hyperventilating.

"I can't breathe!" I yelled, holding my stomach as tears ran down my face.

"Okay, long deep breaths, Zary! Look at me. Long deep breaths, just focus on the sound of my voice." Elijah watches me carefully and we breathe together for a moment as he says, "You'll be okay. You'll be okay."

Then, I heard a small voice. Two in fact as I clutched my pregnant belly and Eli. "You'll be okay, mommy." and "We'll be okay."

My eyebrows furrowed as I looked at my belly, wondering if it's them as I start crying. I'll be okay. Then, unimaginable pain erupted inside me. I started to thrash in Elijah's arms as I screamed in pain. "AHHHH! AHHHH!" Tears ran down my face as he held me, but suddenly the pain started to ease away making me gasp in relief. I continue to groan, ignoring Sophie as she looks up at the sky.

"I just felt it lift."

Frank and Rebekah sigh in relief as I start to calm down, and Elijah looks stunned. I stand up on my own, but still leaning against Elijah, still weak from the spell. Sophie removes one of her earrings and pokes her palm with it. I look down at my palm, and sigh in relief with Eli as he holds my hand. I look into his dark eyes, noticing he was blinking his tears away like me and I pull him into a hug. "Come on, let's go," He says, pulling away and leading us out of the pool.

"Elijah... as soon as your brother finds out that the link is broken, he'll kill Agnes. I know you don't owe me anything, but please, don't let him kill her," Sophie begged, still in the pool and making me glare at her. Elijah ignores her as he zooms out of the pool and pulls his phone out of his jacket on the table. "Elijah! She's our only access to the power we need to survive. Promise me that you'll stop him!"

"It's me, where are you?" Elijah says after putting the phone to his ear and calling his brother. He nods for a moment and says, "Don't hurt her. I'll be there shortly." He hangs up and turns to Sophie. "I'll make you one last promise. I won't let my brother kill Agnes," He says, his voice shaky with rage. I furrow my eyebrows as he looks at me and I enter his thoughts for a moment. "I'll kill her myself." I smile at him as he walks over and kisses my forehead, leaning over the pool, before he speeds away.

Sophie sighs as she goes to get out of the pool, but I block her path, gripping her arm tightly. "I know you were just using me to save your people, but try it again, and I'll kill you like those witches in the woods," I threaten, gripping her arm tighter before letting her go and watching as she leaves the pool.

Third Person POV

Klaus, Zarina, and Father Kieran were all glaring at the witch, Agnes, who was silent. Zarina was steaming as she glared daggers at the woman that threatened her sister and niece and nephew. Klaus stepped forward though and says, "You're a piece of work, Agnes. But, guess what? I'm quite a piece of work myself. You know, I contemplated leaving bits of you artfully arranged outside your family's tomb? I thought it would leave a fitting message." He zooms over to Agnes and pulls her up into a choke-hold. "Don't. Touch. My. Family."

Elijah enters and approaches them at the front of the room as Zarina watched Klaus with an unreadable look. "Leave her." Klaus pulls Agnes into a headlock and stands back as he watches Elijah walk down the aisle toward them with a glare as Zarina continues to look at Klaus. "I gave my word." Father Kieran stands up to greet Elijah, but Zarina pulls him back beside her.

Klaus growls as he says, "You tend to give your word at the most inopportune times, brother. We've been doing things your way all day. Come on! Just one little snap and it's "Toodle-loo, Agnes." She deserves it!"

Elijah sighs, walking closer to his brother and saying, "Niklaus, don't make another move. You have asked for my forgiveness. I will grant you that forgiveness, but do not make me break my word."

Klaus glares at his brother as he considers it. After a moment, he lets Agnes go and opens his arms wide before saying, "My noble brother, how was that for personal growth, eh? Still, it is just like you to spoil all of my fun."

"Oh, not necessarily. I brought someone with me," Elijah says while staring at the witch that almost took his children from him. He zooms over to one of the men who helped Agnes and rips his heart out, throws a second man up into the air, and does the same to a third as he rips out the man's heart. He turns to Klaus with a bloody heart in each hand, and drops them to the floor. He pulls out his pocket square to wipe his hands as Agnes stares in horror, and Klaus grins proudly behind her. Zarina watches with a weird sense of relief.

"Now, I swore you would not die by my brother's hand. I said nothing of my own or hers," He snaps, glaring at Agnes who furrows her eyebrows as she looks behind him to see Zary and Zarina's mother, Zoe, with a knife. Elijah quickly runs behind the witch as Klaus and Zarina watch with curious eyes as the original shoves her forward towards the mother. Without a word, Zoe stabs the witch in the gut and slowly twists the knife to slow her death.

"This is for my daughter and grandchildren," Zoe whispers before slitting the woman's throat.

Zarina's POV

I was waiting in the care for Klaus, when I started to hear loud whispering. It was some weird calling that I couldn't focus. I heard bits and pieces of Frank and Zary's name as I got out of the car when Klaus came out. It was like everything that was in slow motion. I turned around, eyes widening as I heard one sentence: death of Frank.

And I screamed.
