It had been a year since Young Justice had heard anything from Nightwing. All they knew was that he had quit and they hadn't heard from him since. However, the fact that there had been no sign of him during all the meta-human abductions combined with their failed efforts in trying to contact him recently left them feeling concerned. It went against everything they knew about Nightwing to remain silent during all this. This led them to only one conclusion: someone or something was keeping Nightwing prisoner and he needed their help to find him.
"Nightwing had purchased a plane ticket to LA in his civilian identity. We know he landed, unfortunately that's all we know. It would seem he disappeared as soon as he left the airport. Oracle found signs that someone had all video evidence of his presence in the city scrubbed. We know he is somewhere in LA, we just need to find him. To do this, I unfortunately have to tell you his secret identity as well as my own. Now remember, this information will not leave this room under any circumstances. Is that understood?" Batman growled.
The Young Justice team all glanced at one another before agreeing.
He sighed before removing his cowl revealing a handsome man with black hair and brown eyes, "I am Bruce Wayne and Nightwing is my ward Richard Grayson."
The Young Justice team members that hadn't known gaped at him in shock.
Before they could think to speak Batman cleared his throat, "Head to LA and search for Nightwing covertly. Miss Martian, prepare the bioship and take the team to search for clues on Nightwing's whereabouts."
Batman then turned on his heel and marched out of the room. The team silently entered the bioship and headed towards LA, hoping that Nightwing wasn't being tortured wherever he was being held and that they would find him relatively unscathed.
A handsome young man smirked as he stopped the video from the cameras he had hacked into, "So… Golden boy is missing somewhere in LA? Guess I got to go rescue my big bro then."
He had been with Ra's Al Ghul since he'd been brought back from the dead and had hid the fact that his memories had been returning until he had managed to create a solid escape plan as well as a way to sneak back in. He knew Talia Al Ghul was pregnant with Bruce's child and he planned on returning to rescue the baby when he could, but first he needed to focus on finding and rescuing Dick. He was lucky he had already been in LA and didn't need to try to get here before the team. He wouldn't stop until Dick was found and grabbed his burner phone from the table. Jason scrolled through his contacts before clicking one and putting the phone to his ear.
It rang a few times before a voice answered, "Hello?"
Jason smiled, "It's Jason. I have a favor to ask."
There was a pause before a heavy sigh was heard on the other line, "What do you need?"
"Meet me at the usual place as soon as possible. I'll be waiting." Jason said before ending the call.
He pocketed his phone and began walking at a leisurely pace to the meeting point. He stopped at a park and sat on the green bench. He waited around 45 minutes before he was joined by an older man wearing a workout outfit and sweating from the jogging he had been doing before he had sat down to rest for a bit.
The man spoke softly without so much as glancing at Jason, "What's the favor you asked for?"
Jason discreetly slid a picture towards the man, "I need you to help me find my brother. He left for LA a year ago after the death of his best friend before he dropped off the map."
He put the picture in the left pocket of his shorts before he pulled out a cellphone from the same pocket so everyone would believe he had just been grabbing his phone. He proceeded to text himself, pretending he was texting and receiving replies from someone.
Without glancing up from his phone he whispered, "I'll look at the picture once I'm in a safe location. I'll call you as soon as I do so we can discuss whatever I may or may not know and our next steps."
Jason shoved his hands into the big front pocket of his red hoodie, "Thanks. I really appreciate this, I just need him to be safe. He's always been a bit of a trouble magnet as well as too naive and trusting in my opinion. I need to protect him."
The man put his phone back in his pocket, "Don't worry. We'll find him. I'll talk to you later."
With that said, the man continued on his jog and left Jason alone with his thoughts once more.
