The other members of the NSA present in the room removed their firearms from their holsters before placing them onto the desk with the other gun.
Victor turned towards Sierra, "Alright. Let's get our friend sedated."
Sierra walked towards the man before suddenly stopping in her tracks with a gasp. Victor, who had already started to walk away, turned back towards her with a look of concern. She gasped for air, seeming to be on the edge of a panic attack. Victor started to make his way towards her before looking at Victor in terror and picking up the gun he put down while pointing it towards Victor.
"No. Stay away from me." She whimpered.
Victor stumbled a bit before he began to slowly move towards her and pushed the gun she was holding down so it faced the ground.
"Let's go… please." He pleaded as he tried to pull Sierra away to safety from something only he could see.
Sierra weakly struggled to get away as she sobbed, "No… it's not… a fun game. Please… stop."
"We got to leave now or we're going to die!" Victor pleaded, "Please! Wait! Listen! Wait!"
He then stumbled back with a lock of shocked horror on his face and collapsed to the ground against the desk.
"What's happening?" Jason asked in disbelief.
"They're remembering. This drug causes the actives to remember instead of acting erratic like everyone else when exposed to this drug." Miss Martian said in astonishment.
"They seem to be reliving traumatic events." Superboy said worryingly.
Artemis gulped, "Do you think Dick is remembering about Wally right now?"
"Are you ever going to shut up about him?" Dick's voice cried out from behind them.
They turn around in surprise, they hadn't sure that they would have been able to find him so soon. Dick clutched his head as his sobs grew and he tugged at his hair in distress.
"I know you blame me for his death! Everything is always my fault! Do you want me to die, Artemis? Would that make you feel… RELIEVED?!" He wept as his voice grew louder before breaking down and collapsing to his knees with his head cradled in his hands.
Artemis flinched at Dick's words.
"Guess that answers that question." Superboy said dryly before wincing at the blunt tone of voice he had used.
"Contact Batman. We need to help these people… without touching them." Jason said grimly.
Batman, you need to evacuate any students that are still on campus. Dick and the other dolls are remembering traumatic events right now. They could be a danger to others as well as themselves. Artemis reported through the link.
All the actives freaked out as they wandered the room, reliving tragic events. Some of them had practically gone comatose as they stared off into space. A young African-American man ran through the room and was soon followed by a brunette woman, an active named Echo, chasing close behind him.
Mr. Dominic turned to her as she ran by, "Again, so sorry about the burning alive thing."
Echo briefly turned to him before continuing to chase after the man.
"That seems like it's something really important. Superboy, could you please go after them? Miss Martian, please go with him to find out what's going on with the two that just ran by us? Tigress and I will stay here to make sure everyone stays safe here." Jason said.
Superboy and Miss Martian nodded before racing out to follow the people that had run past them. Artemis looked around at the people seeing whatever traumatic memories they seemed to have with a grimace.
"Now what?" She questioned.
"Now… now we make sure these people don't end up hurting themselves until Batman and the others get here." Jason replied.
Artemis stared at him blankly for a few moments before sighing, "Of course this all happens the one day Bart Allen was busy."
Echo chased down the young man, reaching out towards him and grabbing his bag to stop him. They both tumbled to the ground before Echo moved to sit on top of him.
"Stay with me! Leo! I need you! Leo, please! I'm your girl, Leo. Please, Leo! Leo, stay! Please stay!"She cried out as she began to bang his chest desperately.
The young man she was on top of looked at her as if she were crazy before he roughly shoved her off of him, "Get off of me, you crazy bitch!"
He got up and tried to get away only for an older African-American man walked up to him and punched him in the face, knocking him unconscious. He then moved to Echo and knelt down to her level.
"Echo?" He whispered softly
She breathed heavily as she looked around wildly, not saying a word.
"Would you like a treatment?" He asked.
Her breathing slowed down a bit, "Yes."
She whimpered as she was carefully helped up by the man before hugging her own torso for comfort. He then calmly began to lead her away from the unconscious man. However, before they could go up to them to ask about what had happened when suddenly they lost consciousness. When they woke up, all the actives had disappeared without a trace.
"All the actives have been evaluated and processed. Everything seems satisfactory." Mr. Dominic reported.
"Wonderful news." DeWitt replied before walking away.
She went over to the gun sitting on her desk before picking it up and holding it out for Mr. Dominic to take, "Yours, I believe."
Mr. Dominic cleared his throat before taking his gun from her grasp, "Yes. Um… thank you."
He moved away and he straightened his posture with his hands held behind his back. They stood in awkward silence for a few moments.
"The, uh, press is running with the story we sold them. Students drugs classmates before committing suicide." He continued.
"And Echo? I suppose you'll be recommending she be sent to the attic." She said dryly.
"That's entirely your call ma'am"
"For god's sakes, quit calling me ma'am. We got drugged. We behaved like… idiot children. It happens, it's over." She snapped.
There was a pause as he waited for her to continue.
"You may go." She said with a sigh.
He gave her a brief nod before exiting her office. She sighed before going to her desk to see the video monitors of the areas the actives used. She stared at Echo going about her day-to-day activities briefly before going down to the room holding the young African-American man that Echo had chased after. She prepared a pot of tea and poured a cup for the man.
"This should help you relax." She told him.
He stopped his pacing to look down at the cup she had given him before looking her in the eyes to confront her, "Well I don't want to relax. I want the hell out of here."
"I understand."
"You can't hold me! You have to have cause, evidence…"
"I'm not with the government." She interrupted.
He paused, "Well, then who the hell are you?"
She waited until he sat down across from her before continuing, "I'm someone who can give you what you want."
"… And what do I want?"
"A new life. A better life." She stated before opening the folder in front of her, "Your mother, Antoinette Jennings of 483 Helena Street. I understand she's experiencing some financial difficulties. In fact, she's about to lose her home."
He froze, "Do not… threaten my mother."
"Quite the opposite." She pulls out a contract and pen, "Once you sign these papers, your mother will begin receiving a monthly stipend large enough to solve her financial problems."
She slid the contract in front of him and saw him glance down at it in interest. She was glad he seemed intrigued by her words.
"It will continue for five years and at the end of that time, you will be quite capable of supporting her all on your own."
He stared at her in suspicion, "How?
She smiled, "I'm going to make you an offer."
