Echo, Victor, Sierra, November, and Oscar entered their sleeping chamber before getting into their assigned pods. The door to their pods began to close and they each fell asleep, some of them restless from random pieces of memories that made no sense to them. Echo heard a woman's voice, urging her to wake up which she did with a gasp. She looked around the pod she was in, distressed as she realized she was trapped within it with no way to get out.
"Help. God." She said breathlessly before she began to bang against the frosted glass door above her, "Oh God! Help me! Help me, somebody, please! Help me, somebody! Somebody get me out of here! Oh my god, help me! Get me out of here!"
She managed to worm a hand through an opening between the door and wooden part of the ceiling above her, but cut her hand against the glass in her haste. She pulled her hand back to examine her injury before she grabbed a pillow from beside her and used it to help her get the glass door open while continuing to cry out for help. She got out of the pod and glanced wildly around the dark room, she was in, quickly noting the other pods near her just like the one she was inside of when she woke up.
"Who's there?!" Victor's voice called out as he tried to open the door of his own pod.
When he finally managed to pry the door open he grabbed Echo's arm.
"Who the hell are you?" He asked tensely.
She smacked his hand off of her, "Hey! I woke up in a five-star floor coffin just like you, pal."
Victor looked unnerved before they both heard the other three actives banging against the glass that kept them trapped and calling out for help hysterically.
Victor went over to Sierra's pod to help her open the glass door as she sounded like the one most distressed out of those still trapped in their pods, "Hey! Noise. Not helping."
"Doesn't matter. They're listening." Oscar said dully from the pod he sat in, having finally managed to open it.
Echo went over to November's pod and began to help her get the door open for her, "You okay?"
"Who's listening?" Victor asked.
"I don't know, but it must be someone powerful. How else could they have gotten us into these well-built and expensive looking pods." Oscar answered.
"Pervs behind glass getting off watching us." Echo whispered while looking at the observation room above them.
"Yeah, we're in some government building, right? We're in a nuthouse, more like." Victor said.
"What normal people do you know would build a room like this? It was obviously made with someone with money and, if they were powerful enough, could easily snatch us from our homes without us any the wiser." Oscar snapped back, offended that he was being called crazy.
"Definitely feeling kind of lab-ratty here." Echo said.
"I'm leaving before the electric shock." Sierra said before storming off to try and find a way out of the room they were in.
November laughed hysterically as she scrambled to sit down on the circular chair at the center of the five pods. Victor looked at her in confusion and concern, wondering why she would be laughing when they had no idea what was going on.
"Sorry. It's a, um, defense mechanism. I'm just really terrified. I'm fine." November explained while gasping for breath.
"Anyone else got better than some government conspiracy?" Victor asked.
Oscar glared at Victor, "I didn't say it was the government! I just said it was most likely someone powerful, probably someone with the right connections to create this place. There are a lot of things that can give a person power: whether it's political and not just someone with money is up for debate."
"I'm serious about lab rats." Echo said while continuing to look at the observation deck she had spotted earlier.
"Maybe we're supposed to be here." November tried.
"What for?" Sierra questioned, "I didn't do anything."
"Do you know that?" November asked.
"I don't remember anything…" Echo said in quiet alarm, "I mean… I know the days of the week, the capital of Nebraska, but nothing… about me."
"My guess: we're prisoners of some sort. We need to assess the situation, formulate a strategy…"
"Run." Sierra interrupted, "Strategically."
"Yeah, and when they come in with guns, what do we fight with?" Echo said back.
"We take the glass shades off the the light fixtures, splinter them, use them as weapons if they try to stop our escape." Oscar offered.
"Deranged millionaire serial killer. That's what I think." Sierra muttered softly.
"You think a serial killer would go through all this trouble to make this room comfortable for us if he were just going to kill us? Use your head!" Oscar snapped.
"Hey, watch your mouth." Victor snapped back while giving Oscar a small shove.
Echo stepped in between the two men, "Hey, can we all act like humans and not monkeys?"
There was a brief silence before Victor spoke up, gesturing towards Sierra, "See… I know you, don't I?"
"How?" Sierra questioned.
Victor tried to answer, but turned away as he tried to think of where he could have possible met her.
"I think I have to get to the mountains. Everything's okay there." Echo muttered.
"I lost something. Maybe it's here somewhere." November said.
Oscar paused before looking to the ground, "I think I was trying to find someone. Someone important to me is missing, I have save them."
Echo shushed them and they quieted down to listen. Footsteps began approaching and they looked through the rooms frosted glass wall were people walking around.
"Someone's out there." Sierra whispered.
"A lot of someone's." Victor whispered back.
The room lights began to flicker before completely turning on as a glass sliding door open.
"Well, it's been very nice really knowing you guys. Good luck." Sierra told them before turning to leave.
Victor races after her, "Hey, hold up. You need backup."
Oscar quickly started to follow them, but paused when he looked back at Echo and November still standing in the room.
"I want to go with them to protect them, but I also want to protect you. Please. Let's go with them." Oscar plead.
"I'm not sure…" November said hesitantly.
Echo grabbed November's arm and began to drag her along as they all left the room, "Hey, we gotta get moving. We don't wanna leave you behind, please!"
They all left the room to see other men and women dressed similarly to themselves.
"They're people, like us." Oscar observed.
"But so calm." Echo continued the line of thought, "Maybe they know why we're here."
They continued walking, following the others away from the room they had been inside.
"See? I think they like it." November stated with a bit of confusion.
"So do we, like it like them." Victor interrupted, "Got it? What we don't want is to get noticed, so… until we know what's going on…"
"Good morning, Tango." An unknown woman that appeared to be a staff member spoke to a pretty blonde woman that was dressed similarly to themselves.
