After the dolls were given closure and wiped, Topher discovered that there was a spy within the dollhouse. Nobody saw that Echo had noticed all the dollhouse staff panicking and Mr. Dominic took Sierra away for a treatment. Echo wandered into his office yet again as she saw Mr. Dominic yelling at Topher. She then offered herself to help Topher, knowing he was upset, and told him to give her a personality to help. He was shocked by her knowledge, but ended up imprinting her with the personality of a spy hunter. On the other hand, Sierra was imprinted with the personality of a secret agent and sent to the NSA headquarters to discover who the spy was. It was practically a race to see who would discover the identity of the spy first, but in the end Sierra let everyone know what she had found. However, in a shocking turn of events, Echo revealed that the identity Sierra had discovered was nothing more than a cover to hide who the true spy within the dollhouse was: Mr. Dominic. He tried to silence Echo, willing to get rid of any other loose ends needed to cover his tracks.
However, Echo managed to win against him and presented him to DeWitt as soon as she returned. DeWitt was furious that the man she had trusted betrayed her and she demanded why he wanted to bring the dollhouse down. He argued that he hadn't been trying to bring the dollhouse down, but to prevent DeWitt from failing. She quickly ordered Echo to get as much information about the NSA from him before having Topher prep him for the Attic. Once Sierra returned and Echo had finished extracting all she could from Mr. Dominic, they were both wiped and he struggled to escape the fate the dollhouse had in store for him. No matter how much he struggled though, they succeeded in completely extracting his personality and his body was quickly was sent to the Attic. DeWitt decided to then promoted Mr. Langton to head of security despite his protests as he wanted to remain Echo's handler. Due to this, Echo was assigned a new handler named Travis.
After the issues with Mr. Dominic, DeWitt decided to keep most of the actives on rest. Echo, however, was imprinted with the personality of DeWitt's recently deceased friend named Margaret Bashford. Margaret, using Echo's body, went to her own funeral using the name Julia and remained in her family estate for the will reading. Unfortunately, she quickly found out how her family truly thought of her and she was heartbroken by their words. Over the next few days, she tried her best to offer comfort to her remaining family before eventually managing to solve her own murder. It horrified her to find out that she had been murdered by her own son before he tried to kill her in Echo's body to cover his tracks. She was quickly rescued by her widowed husband Jack and the two struggled to gain the upper hand in their fight. Jack eventually managed to knock his step-son unconscious before collapsing on the bed, mourning the loss of his beloved wife. She secretly wrote a letter detailing her son's involvement in her murder as well as a new will to be read. She then returned to the dollhouse to be wiped, glad that her family would finally be free to move on with their lives. The dollhouse continued moving forward undeterred by Mr. Dominic's betrayal. Until the arrival of a flash drive for Mr. Dominic by the NSA.
"Have you found anything new?" Batman asked his son.
Jason nodded, "I've got a lead. Ever heard of Ballard?"
"The FBI agent assigned to the dollhouse case?"
"Yeah, only he was suspended from duty due to some rather questionable events." Jason replied.
"You think the dollhouse was trying to get rid of him? Did he get too close to finding them?" Batman questioned.
"I don't know for sure, but that's the most likely reason."
"Got it. The young justice team will take it from here. Thank you for the information, Jason. Head back to Gotham, I'll bring Dick home soon."
Jason looked at him with narrowed eyes, "What the fuck, Bruce. You can't just take this away from me, he's my brother! I deserve to be a part of finding him."
"No, you deserve to go back home where you're safe. I've lost you once and there is no way in hell I'm losing you again." Batman growled out.
"Fine!" Jason replied through gritted teeth before storming out of their meeting spot.
He didn't need his father and the little sidekick team he'd assembled. He'd get to Ballard on his own and find out what he could from the man. If he needed to, he would join him on his search for the dollhouse.
The dollhouse decided to use Victor's body to speak to Mr. Dominic. He soon realized he wasn't within his own body and began to struggle, causing DeWitt to order him to be sedated as well as something to make him more receptive to their questions. Despite his protests, he was drugged and quickly felt the effect both drugs. He gave out a long exhaile before dropping his head down the lowered chair.
"Right. Let's get started." DeWitt said before gesturing Boyd to come over to her, "Show him."
Boyd held out the flash drive sent to them by the NSA.
"Never saw it before." Mr. Dominic said.
"Come on. It's from your best friends and handlers at the NSA." DeWitt said, trying to wheedle the information out of him.
"No, it isn't. We didn't communicate that way, we have phones." Mr. Dominic replied.
"It came in an envelope. It was hand-delivered. Who else would be trying to contact you covertly?" Boyd questioned.
"Alpha." Replied both DeWitt and Mr. Dominic at the same time.
"I guess he didn't hear about the regime change. Let's open it." DeWitt said as she turned back to look at the screen while waiting for Topher to open the flash drive's content. Once the password screen opened, they all turned back to Mr. Dominic in a questioning look.
"What's it gonna be?" Boyd asked.
"I don't know. He's never sent me anything before." Mr. Dominic said as he noticed their stares.
"Whether it's from the NSA or from Alpha makes no difference. It's intended that you should be able to open it. Therefore you should be able to open it." DeWitt said, her voice increasing in intensity as she continued.
"We just need a password that you would guess. It shouldn't be hard." Boyd insisted.
"Alpha." Mr. Dominic replied.
"Too easy…" Topher argued.
"Try it." DeWitt ordered.
"If we're wrong, it could all disappear." Boyd pointed out.
"Wait." DeWitt ordered before leaning in closely to Mr. Dominic, "Alpha? Just like that? Alpha?"
"He used to sign his stuff in art class like that. They thought it was a fish, but it was his name. Over and over again. First sign something was different." Mr. Dominic replied.
"He means the Greek letter." De Witt said to the others, "Try a Greek alpha."
Topher and Boyd both turned to the computers, Boyd trying to find out how to get the Greek letter alpha.
"How?" Boyd questioned Topher.
"Change font." Topher replied, quickly taking charge and inputted the password.
The file then opened and revealed a picture of a large bearded lumberjack statue.
"Paul Bunyan?" Boyd asked.
"Did not anticipate that." Topher drawled out.
"There's a lot of those statues in Northern Plains cities: Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota…" Boyd replied.
"Tucson." DeWitt said.
"What?" Boyd asked.
"I've seen that dreadful statue from the window of The Center in Tuscan." DeWitt answered.
"What's The Center?" Topher questioned.
"Never you mind." She replied.
"Is that the dollhouse HQ? Because I've always wondered…" Topher asked.
"I've got to make some calls. Get them to increase their security. If Alpha is in Tuscan, God!" DeWitt voice steadily raising in volume.
"They found a body in an alley in Tuscan this morning. Slashed with a knife." Boyd said as he looked up Tuscan and read from a recent online newspaper.
"Send Sierra." DeWitt ordered before walking out of the room.
"So, um… back on the shelf?" Topher asked Boyd with a nervous chuckle.
