Please note, I'm not shipping them, just writing a story of the two relatives meeting. That's all.
Carter's POV.
I was nervous to meet my dad's cousin. Let me explain what's going on: my Uncle Amos suggested that we go to meet his and dad's cousin now that it had been a month since I'd finally learned of her existence, as Dad had never mentioned her, for reasons (aka dad didn't want me or my sister learning of the other gods.)
We had just arrived at the hospital she ran in New Athens, Virginia, full time. Amos went upstairs to see Aunt Amanda, as Amos asked me and my sister to call her, as she was more of a sibling to him than a cousin. Sadie wasn't here because she had to do school. I was just trying to wrap my head around the fact that I had an aunt, who might actually love me.
My grandparents on my mom's side were straight up racist. Sadie was unfortunately, unaware of the facts. I had figured it out when I found a tape in the closet of my uncle's old room. It was when they brought me home. Dad was hit with a wine bottle by gramps when he saw me. It stung, but it was good to know why they hated me. I shivered, as it was a cold January morning. It still stunned me that they were willing to kill my dad over me.
We went on in, and Amanda was trying to help a girl who kept shocking everyone around her with electric shocks. Aunt Amanda had long, blonde hair, white camo clothes, and like Uncle Amos, dark eyes. She managed to have her sent somewhere when she noticed us, her eyes got big.
"Amos, good to see you. And oh my gods, is that.. Carter?"
Amos nodded. And she ran over, tackling me in a hug. Okay, she was very strong.
"Oh my goodness, you are so big! Oh my gods!" She yelled in her excited state.
I managed to get her to let go, only for her to practically smother me in kisses. I guess she REALLY missed me. Amos just stood to the side laughing a bit. After, like, ten minutes of being smothered in overwhelming affection, she let go. Gods she was really, REALLY strong. I was willing to bet she could take Horus and Bast in a fight.
She then checked me over, making sure I wasn't hurt, not even a scratch. Only then did she calm down, if only a little. I couldn't keep myself from smiling. It felt good to be loved by an adult who wasn't my dad, mom, or uncle. That's how cruel my grandparents were.
She then took us to her office to chat. She made us both our favourite snacks while talking to us about how she had seen us only twice. Once when Sadie was born, and once when I was four. Uncle Amos just filled her in on what all she missed. When she found out how gramps and gran had only wanted Sadie, she was so mad. But she did ask me if I wanted to do something I never thought any white relative (besides my mom) would ask me.
"Carter, you wanna go do something, just the two of us? I think you've earned it as you have never punched your grandparents at all." She asked.
I accepted immediately. Uncle Amos gave me the all clear to go. Amanda said Sadie and her would do something eventually. But she decided to use today on me as she wanted to just give me my own day. She took me to go and hang out.
We went to a basketball court she often helped out on. It was practice day, so some players were there. They were taken aback when they met me, and Amanda convinced them to let me join in. I thought she was being crazy, but the players were nice to me. They told me that she'd talked about me and Sadie non-stop, as she missed us way too much. After we played for a while, she took me and asked me what I wanted to do.
"Can we go check out a museum?" I asked.
"A museum? What kind?" Aunt Amanda asked.
"What museum do you recommend?"
Aunt Amanda thought for a minute, and decided to take me to a museum of history, The Museum Of Demigods History. She said it would be good to go so if I had to make a peace treaty with the other demigods, I would have background. Uncle Amos had filled her in on me being pharaoh.
She also, apparently, was once Praetor of the Twelfth Legion. Otherwise known as camp Jupiter. She had been known as The Dragon Of New Rome. Her title came from her ability to breathe fire. I knew because when we passed by the exhibit of her, she had recognized herself. I was a little floored that a legend was my dad's cousin.
Aunt Amanda said they had recently opened up a new exhibit. Showing what had gone down over the past two years. We went to see it. I recognized Percy right away. He was in two of them. I read the plating in awe. I was stunned that I had met a legend among the demigods.
After that, we went to see the Egyptian exhibit. She had wanted to show me as she knew it may be good that I learned a little history, despite the fact I already knew some of that. There was an artifact that dad had mentioned being taken by the Greeks when the left Egypt. A gold tablet, known for bringing statues to life. It had defensive spells on it to keep thieves away. Aunt Amanda said we had to go, or else we'd have to pay for a night visit.
Then, we went to the hospital, where my Uncle Amos was waiting. I felt sad, now that I had to go. I had so much fun with her, more fun than I had in my life. Uncle Amos smiled at me. Aunt Amanda hugged me. That was when Amos made a suggestion.
"Carter, why don't you stay the night? I think you could use a Saturday where you aren't looking after the ankle biters." Uncle Amos said.
I looked at my Aunt. She nodded. I said yes to the idea, and Amos said he'd pick me up at ten am tomorrow.
We went to dinner after that. She knew a place called The Golden Flow, a place known for good tea. I drank some, it was awesome. After that, we went straight to her home, and I saw her place. It was a mansion. Literally. It was pretty fancy.
We went on in, and Amanda ran a bath for me while I sat down in the living room. It had a big wall that was practically entirely made from glass. I looked at the photos on her wall. There were pictures of Aunt Amanda with some other girls, who maybe were adopted siblings. I saw one of Aunt Amanda sitting with my uncle. Then a picture of me, when I was born. She was holding me, smiling. She came on in at that point, and picked me up. I knew she was strong, but this was ridiculous.
She carried me back into my room, where my bathroom was, and closed the door. I tossed off my clothes. As I sat in the tub, I wondered why she had picked me up. I could walk just fine. Once I got out, I got dressed in some pajamas she had laid out already. They looked like they wouldn't fit me, but they did.
Then Aunt Amanda knocked on the door. Once she came in, she insisted on tucking me in. It was weird, but she said she just wanted to do it because she had always wanted to have me over for a summer, which had never happened. I caved in like a sucker. After I was tucked in, she closed the door, and I fell asleep. I had a loving aunt, and I felt so happy about it.
