Within These Walls

Vax listened to Keyleth hum a happy tune beside him. She was laying on her back, covers pulled up past her chest, her hair sprawled around her on her pillow, one hand wrapped in vines and a flower in her palm that seemed to sprout with her song.

"That's a neat trick." Vax rolled over on his stomach and raised himself on his elbows to have a better view. "Any special meaning to the song?"

"Oh, no." Keyleth glanced at him briefly, "Just... feeling happy I guess." She turned to Vax, the vines disappearing, leaving only the flower. "I'm happy that we're all still alive and... that you and I are here together."

She brushed the back of her hand across Vax's cheek and tucked the flower behind his ear. A blush appeared on the rouge elf's face at the gentle, loving gesture. He caught Keyleth's arm just as she was about to pull away, kissing the inside of her palm, then traveling lower to her wrist. His eyes traveled back to her face, now covered in the same blush that was on his own face. He got an idea in his head.

Vax grinned and winked at her before playfully biting Keyleth's wrist.

"Vax!" Keyleth's blush deepened as she pulled her hand away.

"What? It was just a kiss. Get your mind out of the gutter Kiki." His chuckle was accompanied with a yet another wink. Keyleth rolled her eyes at him, before she reached for his shirt and pulled him into a kiss. It was brief but that didn't stop either of them from humming into it and closing their eyes, letting themselves enjoy the softness of lips pressing against lips.

As they parted Vax inched himself closer to Keyleth, his arms circling around her waist and his head laying against her chest.

Keyleth sighs as she feels his lips across her chest, traveling up her neck, "Who's got their mind in the gutter now?" Vax hummed, planting one more kiss to her neck before lying his head back against her chest.

"Thank you for the flower. It's lovely. My kisses were a form of thanks. And I think we're both too tired for that right now." Keyleth agreed, her arms wrapping around his neck, fingers tangling into his hair and slowly and gently undoing any knots she found.

"Yeah. I don't think even Scanlan and Grog had the energy to go to brothels." They both chuckled, "Besides, I really like moments like this. It's nice and cozy."

"It is. I like it too." Their eyes closed slowly, smiles on their lips and arms and legs tangled up in each other, savoring the rare moments of piece and quiet that Vox Machina got to have.
