Changing Seasons
I didn't truly start to mourn until the spring,
Peace found my soul and I knew it was time,
His smile will reside in my heart forever
He fell through the veil.
His mischief managed, the slate wiped clean,
I couldn't reach him in time.
The muddy pawprints he left on the floor,
It could have been me instead.
He had been there for me from the beginning,
That day my world shattered like glass,
Padfoot, Prongs, Moony, and Wormtail,
Two dead, one a coward, and one left alive.
On a walk, I found a feather the same grey as his eyes
That was my chance to say goodbye,
This morning, there were excited yips and howls carrying in the wind
He was telling me that it was time to move on.
I didn't truly start to mourn until the spring,
It was time again for me to grow.
