Letting Go
Marcy wakes up in shock, taking deep breaths to calm herself. She looks around, bringing herself back to reality as the image of her fantasy world disappears from her mind. Letting go of the dream world and coming back to herself.
Anne and Sasha hug Marcy, relieved she's back and safe. Marcy wipes the tears from her face and hugs them back. A sense of true belonging comes over her as she connects with the two people who care about her most.
Anne and Sasha look at Marcy to make sure she's okay. They don't know what happened, but they can tell it took a toll on her emotionally. So they give her some space.
"I'm okay. I just feel kind of out of it. Anne, Sasha, you won't believe the experience I just had in my mind. It's like I was in a video game and had to fight the dark version of myself. It was so surreal." Marcy said.
Anne and Sasha are surprised as joyous smiles come across their faces. Marcy's memories are back and she's more herself then she's been in a long time.
"Marcy, you remember us." Sasha said.
Marcy pauses for a moment. She was so lost in thought about the fantasy that played out in her mind, she forgot she lost her memories.
"That's right, my memories are back, but it's more than that. I finally feel like myself again." Marcy replied.
Anne and Sasha are so relieved to hear this. After going through all of the traumatic experiences she endured in Amphibia, she lost parts of herself. She was so sad and lost. Pushing the people who care about her away because she was afraid of being hurt again. She was suffering and felt so alone. Now, she's starting to be her optimistic and energetic self again.
"I'm so glad to hear you say that Marcy. You've been through so much. You deserve to be happy." Anne said.
Marcy smiles, happy to know Anne's looking out for her. They've always been close and, no matter what they go through, they always end up together in the end.
"Now, what's this about that video game dream you had?" Sasha asked.
Marcy's elated to hear Sasha's interested in hearing about her passion for fantasy video games. This has always been Marcy's way of connecting with the world around her. And she knows now that, as long as she doesn't take her escapism too far, it's a smart and creative tool she can use to connect with and relate to others.
Anne and Sasha listen closely as Marcy explains what happened in her dream. She's both excited and a bit fearful since it was not all a fantastical dream land. She explains how, in the end, it was their support as well as her self compassion that got her through it. She starts to tear up as she tells them the ending and Anne and Sasha sit closer to her.
"Marcy, that's a beautiful story." Sasha said.
"I can tell how much you've grown, Marcy. You choose to learn from your suffering, and that's incredible." Anne said.
Marcy smiles and blushes as Anne puts her arm around her. They've always been close friends, but she's ready for something more. She just hopes the feeling is mutual. So she gathers her courage and gets ready to tell Anne how she feels about her.
"Anne, I need to tell you something." Marcy said.
"What is it, Marcy?" Anne asked.
Marcy freezes up. She wants to confess her feelings for Anne, but words are failing her. She looks up at the ceiling blushing and fidgeting. Sasha nudges Marcy, she knows what she's going to say and has known Marcy's had a crush on Anne for a long time now.
"Go for it, Marcy." Sasha said.
Anne tilts her head and smiles, encouraging Marcy to say what she wants to say to her. Marcy takes a deep breath and starts to feel better. She knows Anne will always be here for her. And, even if she doesn't feel the same way about her, that's enough.
"Okay, here it goes. Anne, you're my best friend and I care about you. We've been through so much together and you've always been there for me no matter what. I guess what I'm trying to say is. I love you Anne." Marcy said, overwhelmed with emotions.
Anne smiles and takes Marcy's hand. Marcy's looking away, slightly embarrassed, but turns to see Anne looking back into her eyes longingly. Without saying a word, Anne leans in and kisses Marcy. Marcy's surprised at first, but gets lost in the moment and kisses her back.
Once they stop kissing, Anne and Marcy look into each other's eyes and smile. Marcy's completely enamored by Anne. This moment is better than any fantasy video game or story she's ever experienced virtually. It's real and the feelings of love and support she's experiencing in reality are worth it.
"I love you too, Marcy." Anne said.
Anne and Marcy hug, feeling safe and supported in each other's arms. Marcy knows the road to recovery isn't going to be easy, but Anne's love and support will make the journey towards self acceptance worth fighting for.
"I knew you two love birds would end up together." Sasha said with a wink.
Anne and Marcy blush, slightly embarrassed but happy that Sasha's supportive of their relationship. In a way, Anne and Marcy knew they would end up together eventually. They've always been close friends and now they get to experience a deeper bond that will help them grow.
Suddenly, Anne and Sasha look at one another smiling. They both have the same idea, and Marcy can't help but wonder what they're thinking. She looks at them both with a curious smile.
"What are you both thinking?" Marcy asked.
"I was thinking we could all go to the park we used to play at when we were kids." Anne said.
"Same, it'll be fun!" Sasha added.
Marcy excitedly agrees and the trio heads off to the park. They all talk and laugh on the walk there, enjoying each other's company. Happy to have Marcy back with her memories and personality shining through.
Once there Anne and Marcy sit on the swings and they hold hands. Sasha pushes them both to give them momentum and they start swinging. The trio has a fun and carefree time together as they reminisce about the good old days while creating new memories.
Anne and Marcy jump off of the swings and land in the sand. Anne sticks the landing and Marcy falls over laughing, so Anne joins her on the ground. Then, Sasha helps them up.
With that, the three of them sit on the bench together and feel a sense of contentment come over them. Anne sits in the middle of the bench with Marcy resting her head on her shoulder and Sasha holding her hand. They watch as the sun begins to set. A beautiful bright sun, fading away and painting the sky with warm colors.
The trio watches the sunset together, enjoying this moment. Anne holds Marcy close, she's so proud of her and how much she's grown. Sasha smiles at them, happy to know they'll be supportive of each other while she remains the protector of their group.
They've all grown from their time in Amphibia and choose to learn from the experiences. Letting go of past mistakes, and holding onto hope for a better future. Living in the moment as they realize this is a new start. The beginning of the end.
The End
