It was the big day, Mike Wheeler and Jane Hopper were getting married! The young couple was beyond ecstatic about becoming man and wife and spending the rest of their lives together.
Some of their distant family members, though, weren't exactly keen on the fact that they were doing this while still so young and in college. They had no idea these two had been through so much together and had experiences that proved how much they meant to each other a hundred times over.
Well, Karen Wheeler and Joyce Hopper(nee Byers) weren't having that. They knew how happy these kids were together and nobody was stepping in the way of this wedding. So, before the ceremony and even before anyone was seated, all the guests were gathered in another room at the church where Karen and Joyce were standing in front of them, champagne flutes in their hands.
Karen started, "It's good to see everyone here today. You all look absolutely fantastic!"
Joyce continued, "Now, we know there have been some grumblings that some of you think Mike and Jane are getting married too young."
"And we totally hear where you're coming from. We just want to share a little peace of mind with all of you and I think Joyce wanted to go first, Joyce?" Karen said, turning to her partner in crime.
"Thank you, Karen. Now, I want all of you to remember that this is the happiest day of these kids' lives and they are deliriously happy about it. Seriously, my daughter has been repeating, "Jane Eleanor Wheeler" ever since she woke up this morning. And, if something like that isn't good enough for you, well," she trailed off before gulping down the last of her champagne before lifting the empty glass in the air and smashing it on the ground.
"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR SO MUCH AS A NEGATIVE PEEP FROM ANY OF YOU! WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE, NOT EVEN FAMILY MEMBERS, TO RUIN OUR CHILDREN'S BIG DAY! IF ANYONE IN THIS ROOM IS ANYTHING LESS THAN A TEDDY BEAR FILLED WITH COTTON CANDY AND RAINBOWS TODAY, JUST REMEMBER THAT I MARRIED A COP AND HE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE SOMEONE DISAPPEAR OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH!" she screamed before calming down and resuming her earlier calm composure as if nothing had just happened and turning back to her friend, "Karen?"
Karen turned to Joyce, "Thank you," she then turned back towards the crowd, "Um, ditto. Except for the married to a cop part. Also, if anyone shows up late, be sure to pass on our message. Have we made ourselves crystal clear?" she asked with a slightly evil smile.
The room was in a stunned silence before a few people muttered, "Yeah," and "Of course."
Karen was first, "Good, so glad we were able to meet like this."
Joyce was next with a now cheerful grin, "Now, let's get out there and celebrate! It's a wedding for heaven's sake!"
