There was a new life in the world today. El just had her and Mike's first child. The first child of their group's next generation. El had definitely been put through the wringer but, hours later, now that she was holding their son with Mike at her side his arm around her shoulder, it was all worth it.

Mike leaned over to his beloved wife and whispered, "You did it, El. We did it. We're parents now."

Though still tired, El was bursting with happiness, "God, would you look at him? He's beautiful."

"Gets that from his mother."

El looked at this man who she had sworn to spend her life with and beamed, "I love you so much, Mike."

"I love you, too."

There was a small knock at the ajar door and Joyce peeked her head in, "Can we come in?"

Mike happily waved them in. It was Joyce, Hopper and Steve was with them for some reason. Joyce was the first to see the baby, "Oh my god, is that him? He's perfect."

Steve stepped up next to Mike, "Congratulations, Wheeler, you're a dad now."

Mike looked at Joyce, "Did you call my mom? Nancy? The others?"

"Yep, they're all on their way, they'll be here in a couple of hours."

Hop had remained silent before stepping up to his daughter and kissing her on the forehead, "I'm so proud of you, kid."

El looked at her dad, "Thanks, Daddy. Do you want to...?" she asked nodding her head towards the baby.

The big man was struggling with his emotions but answered, "Sure," and El carefully moved the baby into his arms.

Hop was overwhelmed looking at the new life he was holding, "Hey, buddy, I'm your grandpa. Welcome to the world. It ain't an easy place, but you got nothing to worry about, you're gonna have so many people looking out for you, it's insane." He turned to the kids, "You thought of any names, yet?"

Mike and El both smiled at each other before El asked, "Can I tell him?"

"Yeah, go ahead," Mike answered.

El turned to Hop, "After a lot of talking-"

"A lot a lot of talking?" Steve joked.

El continued, "We decided...to name him James...after you, Dad."

Hopper was in shock, "J-James?"

Both of the new parents nodded, Mike added, "We decided to call him Jimmy to avoid confusion."

This was officially too much for Hop to handle, he started stammering, trying to get a hold of himself, "Well, that's just...I couldn't...you two are just...," he quickly turned to his wife as his voice started to crack, "Joyce, do you wanna...?" he said quickly but gently handing the baby over, Joyce taking the small bundle.

Hop rushed his way out of the room, "I gotta go see something..." he said quickly trying to wipe away the tears in his eyes, closing the door.

Joyce was pleasantly surprised, "Well, would you look at that!" she said with a smile.

Mike looked at El, "You were right."

"I forgot how emotional the big guy can get," Steve said.

Mike and El shared another smile, "Well, that ain't all," Mike said.

Steve looked at them, "What are you talking about?"

Mike looked at El, "Can I tell him?" After El nodded, Mike turned back to Steve, "We also decided...to have his middle name be...Steven."

Now, it was Steve's turn to be in shock, "Steven? James...Steven Wheeler?" he sputtered out, getting another nod from the young couple.

Steve was taking short deep breaths trying to find the words, before getting too choked up and only saying "Excuse me" before also rushing out of the room.

El looked at Mike, "You were right."

No sooner had Steve rushed out than Hop had pulled himself away from the wall he had been crying against and attempted to compose himself, "Harrington...heck of a day, huh?"

"Yeah," Steve responded, before pointing back to the room, "James...Steven...Wheeler" he was able to get out.

"Seriously?"

"Yeah," Steve responded, fresh tears forming in his eyes.

Hop decided to screw the composure thing and opened his arms, "Aw, Hell, bring it in!"

Steve quickly stepped up to him as they wrapped their arms around each other, sobbing their hearts out.

"This is just the greatest day, isn't it?" Hop said in between sobs.

Steve responded, "It is, it really is. But, when this story gets retold, we're gonna leave out this part, right?

"Oh, definitely."
