Skitty here! My first story about Encanto… Featuring Bruno! Make sure to review, follow and favorite!
"Long ago, when the youngest of my three daughters had just been born, Abuelo Pedro and I were forced to flee our home to escape the dangers."
Three sets of eyes stared up in wonder at Alma Madrigal. The old woman chuckled softly and pulled them closer to her.
"How did we get a miracle?" The youngest, and the smallest, Bruno, asked, scrunching up his nose, his sister's following suit.
"As many joined us, in our search to find a new home, those dangers caught up to us, and your Abuelo Pedro saved everyone by fighting against it.
But, in our darkest moment, we were given a miracle. The candle became a magical flame, and the mountains around us arose to become our new home. A safe place of love and protection."
"An Encanto!" Julieta giggled.
"An Encanto." Alma agreed, running her fingers through the girl's hair. "Then the miracle grew. Our house, our Casita itself came alive to shelter us. When my children came of age, the miracle blessed them each with a gift in which to help our community. And when their children came of age-"
"They got magic too!" Pepa interrupted, her face glowing with excitement.
"That's right!" Alma chuckled. "And our family's magic has strengthened our Encanto, and helped it grow. And tonight, the candle will bless you three with a Gift, and you will join in making your family proud." She continued.
"Make our family proud." Bruno thoughtfully echoed.
Fireworks boomed outside the window, and the group of four started with a start. Casita bounced an alarm clock over as it rang, and the three children leaped to the floor with fits of giggles.
"Yes, yes, Casita. We're coming." Alma laughed as Bruno pulled her up and towards the door, Pepa taking her other hand and Julieta taking the lead. Casita let them slide down the stairs, flinging them onto their feet at the bottom in front of their mother, Isabella. She clicked her tongue as she brushed them off.
"Dios mio, children. You'd think you just rolled in the dirt. "
Tia Luisa chuckled as she helped. "Lighten up, sis. They're just kids."
"Kids who are going to get a gift in ten minutes!" Isabella fretted. She shook her head fondly, before leading the three to the curtains. "You'll do great, mi hijas. " She whispered, as the curtains flung open and Casita readied itself for the triplets to walk the path.
Alma smiled softly at them from the top of the stairs next to their doors. "Whatever your gift is, will be just as special as you."
OoOoOoO
Bruno kept out of bed with a hop in step. He spun happily, grabbing his pet rat Avion from his desk in the corner of his sandy room. He rushed over to the closet, the alarm clock next to his bed catching his eye. Digging through the small wardrobe, flinging the clothes all over the floor until he at last piled out his worn green ruana , Bruno tucked Avion into the hidden pocket inside of the article of cloth. He took a deep breath, knocking against the door of his room.
"Knock, knock, knock, knock on wood." He recited, hitting his head with a satisfying clunk that eased his nerves. "Make your family proud." He pulled the door open, jumping out, reaching out for the banister and sliding down, landing on unsteady feet. Bruno ducked out of the way as Tia Luisa whooshed past him, carrying two wooden bags.
"Morning, Bruno! Be careful." Tia Luisa called over her shoulder.
Bruno waved. "Morning!" He turned as his mother came out of her room. "Morning, Mamà!
Isabella gave her son a gentle smile, her purple dress swishing softly. Up her arm was an entwined vine of three different colored flowers, one for each of her children. Blue, yellow, and green. "Make sure to set the table, Brunito. Your sister is almost done with breakfast."
"Sure thing, Mamà!" Bruno flashed a smile her way, before allowing Casita to slide him down the stairs.
"Morning, abuelo!" He chirped to the painting on the wall as he slid down into the dining room. Bruno spun around dizzily, stopping in shock as Casita tipped the cupboard and the plates came barreling out. He caught them, before beginning to set them in place.
"Hey! When's the magic gift gonna happen?" Three kids popped up over the bush.
Bruno clapped his hands and dusted off his pants. "My cousin's gift ceremony is tonight.
"What's his gift?" The one with the coffee mug screamed loudly.
"We're gonna find out!" Bruno called back.
"What's your gift?" The other boy asked.
"Who's asking?" Bruno asked with fake suspicion.
"Us!" The kids shouted in unison.
"Well, us. I can't just talk about myself. I'm only part of the amazing Madrigals!"
"Who's all the amazing Madrigals?"
"Ah, you're not gonna leave me one, are you? Casita, help me out!" Bruno smiled.
"Drawers! Floors! Doors! Let's go!"
Bruno clapped and the kids jumped excitedly.
"This is our home, we've got every generation. So full of music, a rhythm of its own design."
Bruno knocked on Camilo's door, before bumping his hip on Pepa's. He flung open the door to Julieta's room, who sat on her bed brushing her hair.
"This is my family, a perfect constellation, so many stars and everybody wants to shine!"
Bruno tossed a wave to his sister before ducking out of the room and into the hall again.
"Whoa! Let's be clear, Abuela runs this show! Whoa! She led us here so many years ago. Whoa! And every year our family blessings grow!"
Bruno spun around Alma, smiling at her and chuckling at her exasperation at his shenanigans.
"There's just a lot you simply need to know! Welcome to the family Madrigal! The home of the Family Madrigal. We're on our way! Where all the people all magical and fantastical!"
Bruno skipped out the house, turning to wave at Casita before following his family.
"I'm part of the family Madrigal!"
"Oh my gosh, it's them!"
"What are the gifts?"
"I can't remember All the names!"
Bruno laughed as the kids hooked onto his arm. "Alright, alright, relax."
"It is physically impossible to relax!"
"Tell us everything! What are your powers?"
"Just tell us what everyone can do!"
Bruno blinked, surprised at the outburst from the kid in front of him. "Maybe you should lay off the coffee." He chuckled, taking the coffee cup and flinging it.
"My Mamà Isabella, her mood affects the color of all the flowers and trees she can make bloom!
My Tia Mira-"
The townspeople cut him off. "We don't talk about Mirabel!"
Bruno glanced at them, sighing internally. "They say she was a mariposa, one day she flew away! Oh! And that's my Tia Luisa, here's her deal. Whoa! The truth is she can carry you, me and him totally for reall! Whoa! If you're impressed, imagine how I feel! Looking good, Tia!
Welcome to the family Madrigal! The home of the family Madrigal! Hey coming through!
I know it sounds a bit fantastical and magical, but I'm part of the Family Madrigal! Two guys fell in love with Family Madrigal! And now they're part of the Family Madrigal! See, Tio Charles married Luisa, and my dad married Isabella, that's how Abuela became an Abuela Madrigal! Let's go, let's go!"
Bruno swung his hands towards Alma, allowing her to take over.
Alma glanced at him, before turning her attention to the Townspeople. "We swore to always, help those around us, and earn the miracle that somehow found us! The town keeps growing, the world keeps turning, and work and dedication will keep the miracle burning, and each new generation must keep the miracle burning!"
The kid's who had surrounded Bruno bombarded him with questions.
"Who's a sister and who's a cousin?"
"There's so many people!"
"How do you keep them all straight?"
Bruno smiled, waving his arms as a show of settling down. "Okay, okay, okay. So many kids in our house, so let's turn the sound up! You know why, I think it's time for a grandkid round up!"
"Grandkid roundup!" The kids echoed, dancing along with him to the beat of the music.
"Cousin Antonio, can hear all the animals! Camilo shapeshifts, Dolores gets her gift today! My sister, Julieta and Pepa! One gentle, one strong willed! Perfect in every way!
"Julieta!" Someone called out, running over to her for an arepa con queso.
"Heals a scrape, the town goes wild!"
"Julieta!"
"She's the perfect golden child!" Bruno gestured at his sister, a sad smile on his face.
"And Pepa makes it rain! The gentle and the strong make no wrong! That's life in the Family Madrigal! Now you know the family Madrigal! Where all the people are fantastical and Magical! Thats who we are in the family Madrigal! Adios!" Bruno saluted, turning on foot to walk away, before running into another kid.
She stared up at him with wide eyes. "But what's your gift?"
Bruno winced. "Hah! Well I gotta go, the life of a Madrigal! But now you all know the family Madrigal! I never meant this to get autobiographical! So just to review the Family Madrigal! It starts with Abuela, and then Isabella, she handles the flora!"
"What about Bruno?"
Bruno ducked into an ally, narrowly avoiding getting hit by a dart. My Tia can move boulders with a just flick of her finger! My dad Mariano, he's accident prone but he means well! Hey, you said you wanna know what everyone does, I got sisters and cousins-"
"Bruno!"
Bruno backed nervously into a wall, his hands in front of him to protect himself. "My Primo Camilo won't stop until you smile today! My cousin Antonio's birds are telling him this chorus a mile away! Look! It's Mister Felix Parino, you can like my sister if you wanna, between you and me she likes to show off-" Bruno cut off as Julieta herself walked by, handing a little boy with a bloody nose and arepa and smiling as it healed.
Bruno frowned, tilting his head. "Whoops, I said too much, thank you but I really gotta go!" Bruno took off towards Casita, the kids close behind. "My family's amazing! And I'm in my family! Well…"
"Bruno!"
Bruno froze, turning around with a sheepish grin. "Yes?"
Alma stared at him disapprovingly. "I need that vision for tomorrow soon."
Bruno bowed his head. "Yes, Abuela."
Antonio shook his head, clicking his tongue. "He can see the future." He told the kids, before walking away, deeper into Casita.
The kids swiveled towards Bruno. "Can you tell the future?" They asked in awe.
Bruno opened his mouth to answer, but an aching pressure arose and he felt himself slip into a vision, faintly hearing the kids screaming and running away. As the vision faded, he stared after them sadly. "Yep. But it's not pretty." He said softly, turning to face his family. His mother grew more roses, as his Tia picked up two boulders. Pepa made a rainbow over the house. "But it's still cool, right?"
Nobody answered.
So just to clarify, Antonio is 19, Camilo is 16, Dolores is five, Isabela is 52, Luisa is 49, Mirabel is 45, and the triplets are fifteen. Julieta is 21 minutes older than Pepa, who is 6 minutes older than Bruno. Antonio, Camilo and Dolores are Luisa's kids, and the triplets are Isabela's.
