A/N
I do not own these characters or the show.
I have decided to do a double episode for the next one. It'll still be a one shot but the next one will flow from this 1. This is for BrittanyLS. There are 2 episodes that show Lisa's return to sell Fairfield and the road trip to sell Cinders. This is centered around JISA. The flashbacks. The hidden glimpse of the emotions they both feel and reflect on. Lets get right into it.
This is part 2
True to his word, Jack was up at the crack of dawn. Texting Lisa 'Ready when you are Lis' She replied I have a few things to do this morning but when I'm done I'll be there. No later than 10..
Jack moved to enjoy his morning coffee before heading out to do some of the chores around the ranch before he leaves. His mind reeling though. He's been having flashbacks of times they spent together. He loved Lisa and he really didn't want her to sell Fairfield and move away from him but he had no idea if they could move past this.
Checking the time Jack notices it's almost 9am so he heads back to the house to freshen up and wait for Lisa. She arrives slightly early and winks at Jack. He just chuckles but more to himself. "Bye girls" he calls out jumping into the drivers seat of the Fairfield truck and trailer.
Following the road from Heartland Jack groans at the sound of the GPS. It's annoying him but he lets it go. The ride was semi quiet to begin with. Neither wanting or knowing where to start. Following the GPS against his better judgement because that's what Lisa wanted to do. They pull over to the side of the road realizing they had run out of stuff. After a lengthy conversation about her not wanting to stay by herself and wait at the truck. Jack decided they'd both head back to the main road and call for help.
If Lisa was being honest with herself though, she didn't care about herself. She didn't want him to go alone because she was scared for him. What if something happened to him. What if he got hurt or worst what if he had another heart attack. At that last thought Lisa almost broke down but she held her composure as they walked through the forest for what seemed like forever before Jack declared they were indeed lost. After joking at his expense and comparing him to the GPS that got them lost too. They both laughed and settled into conversation. Nothing major just easy banter. However Jack had used Cinders stall blanket to make a makeshift Hutt for Lisa to sleep in all the while humming the tune he and Amy sang at Ashley and Calebs wedding. Lisa slipped into some memories of her own and a smile crossed her face. Turning back to him though she couldn't help but smile at Jacks instincts to protect her at all costs. Even from the rain and the cold.
After checking Cinders was good for the night Jack slides down next to the fire to get settled in. Lisa extends her hand to him pulling him to his feet, more than enough room for both of us in there and walks in to settle herself. Lisa falls asleep with ease because the man she loves is right next to her. Jack on the other hand can't sleep this close to her and not be able to pull her into him. So he finds himself staring at her beauty, light glow from the fire. He is still in awe of her beauty. Gently Jack runs his finger lightly along her cheek and across her face. Even in her sleep she leans into the touch subconsciously. He stops and this makes her stir a little. He finally falls asleep but When morning finally does greet them, he's exhausted. Not enough sleep for him but he'd never complain for he was with the love of his life.
Getting up though Jack realizes that Cinders must have been spooked in the storm and bolted. They follow footsteps across the river and find Cinders in a nearby gully. Plan is for Jack to hike up to higher ground with Lisa's phone and call for help when he gets a signal. "What if something happens to you?" Lisa finally voices her real concern for the cowboy. "Nothing will happen to me, I won't be long, I PROMISE" she hands him a water bottle and he sets off.
After he finally reaches a signal and calls Amy and Ty for help. He starts to feel bad chest pains. Stopping slightly to let the pain dull enough for him to continue back to Lisa. Lisa would never forgive herself if something happened to him and he knew that. He just needed to let the pain right itself before he continued as he leaned on a tree for support.
Making it back to Lisa he is greeted with a relieved woman with open arms just waiting to embrace him. He indulges her and holds her so tight, taking in her scent. Letting her know he got through, she hugs him again before they make their way back to Cinders in the gully.
Lisa can't stop talking about how stupid their fights were and all because she just wanted to spend time with him. His heart breaks hearing this because he fought her so hard on something they could have discussed and moved past. Hearing her say that she was all in, all in because she loved him not because she felt sorry for him was the hardest thing for him to hear. He knew he loved Lisa early on in the relationship but couldn't admit it to her let alone himself. Talking about Arizona to Lisa, admitting that he just wished she was there with him was hard. He didn't like to be vulnerable like this but he needed her to see that he knew he made a mistake and was definitely paying for it.
Once Ty and Amy arrived, they got Cinders out of the gully, across the river and back to the trailer to make the trek home.
Jack told Lisa he didn't want her to sell, he told her he still loves her and he thinks she still loves him. He asks her to stay. Lisa couldn't believe her ears. Jack was a man few words but she needed to make sure for herself that this time was gonna be different. She loved him with all her heart but she couldn't get hurt again. She smiles a very sad smile but leads him to the truck so they can head home.
Later that day once both have been home to rest and freshen up. Lisa heads over to Heartland to let Jack know she's keeping Cinders and that she's taken Fairfield off the market. Hat in hand he pulls her to him and presses their lips together in a fierce kiss. She looks up at him and pecks him on the lips again. Pulling back they both know this is what they want. This is where they're meant to be. Home for them is where the other was.
This wasn't an easy one to write. But I hope you enjoyed Brittany
