Ok. For those who've seen my other fics, this one will be odd. Cause I was thinking of reversing roles. =P I was wondering what would happen if KAGOME was the one that was a half-demon and then INUYASHA was the reincarnation of OKITOKI? XD Silly… But, it was bugging meee~ =(

Reversed Tale:

Chapter One: A Bond and Attacks

Promises don't always stay promises. Sometimes they turn into distant memories.

"Where did you go? Where are you, half-demon?"

"Right here!" She said, coming from above and slicing the demon in half with her claws. "There. One less to call me a half-demon and live to tell the tale... Oh, well." Her name was Kagome and she wore a dark red kimono with deep red on her hakama, which was to her knees to make it easier to run and attack in. She had a baby lilac koshimaki underneath the short hakama while she wore a grey-blue hada-juban underneath her kisode. Her golden eyes scanning the area, soon being attacked by two other demons, who managed to nick her arm, but she made quick work of them. She ran her clawed hand through her bangs, a single part in the middle of her head being pure white ever since she was a child. 'I need to get stronger, dammit...' She resumed running, knowing that tonight was a bad night. 'Gotta hurry. Tonight's the night...' She paused when she felt and smelt blood. "What happened?" She lept silently and landed to be hidden from a single man who had been apparently hurt. 'A human? Is that really a man?' She froze and slinked closer to the bark just as she pulsed a little.

The man looked in the tree, right at her. By the looks of it, he had a hard fight. He spoke. "How long do you intend to stay up there and hide from me?" Rain began to fall and the man refused to look away. "Are you after the Sacred Jewel as well?"

"Sacred Jewel? Never heard of it." Their eyes connected before the man replied and her shift to human slowly began as he spoke, golden orbs shifting into brown while her hair darkened to a raven black, her claws shrinking into human nails and her ears shifting to the side of her head.

"If you are not after it, then never mind. If you value your life at all, I warn you to stay away from me." He turned and walked away, not going far before he collapsed, making Kagome leap down and rush over to see what happened.

She stared as the rain washed away the dirt from the man's face, blinking and muttering. "He's some priest..."

"Lord Okitoki!" A child called, making Kagome dash off as fast as her human feet could carry her.

A few miles away, Kagome managed to get into another tree and rest before she heard a centipede or something fly overhead. "I must find it to increase my demonic powers before my body fails me."

She grinned slightly. "I get it now... So that's what it's about... The Sacred Jewel, huh?" Her eyes opened to show not only her eyes, which had started out brown, but was shifting back into her golden ones, but the determination to take the jewel. "It's worth looking into." Her mind flashed to the man as she turned thoughtful. "That man's name was Okitoki..." The next day, she had tracked down his scent and chuckled a tiny bit. "Hey, Okitoki. I heard this Sacred Jewel was a powerful crystal that increases the power of demons."

"I remember you. You were hiding in the shadows the other night."

Kagome tensed and glared. "Shut up! Just hand over that Sacred Jewel!" Before she even got close, a few arrows pinned her to a tree, making her struggle.

"I thought so. I thought I sensed a different aura from you. So you are a mere half-demon." He got her to snarl at that. "With the Sacred Jewel, you could become a full-blooded demon. Would you go that far to find your place in the world, half-demon? Do you believe that is true power?"

"I told you to shut up! I'll become the strongest demoness around. I've already made up my mind, bastard!" She glared. "And when I do, I'll put you out of your misery!"

He seemed to sigh in a laugh. "Take my word for it. That won't happen. As long as I purify and guard the jewel."

"Don't make me laugh... You reek of demon blood!" That got Okitoki to pause his walk. "What's the matter, bastard? Did I strike a nerve? Huh, Okitoki?"

"You better stay away from me if you don't want to be killed. There'll be no third chance."

"Heh! I'm not giving up that easily! Go ahead and run, you won't get away from me with that bloody demon scent on ya, you'll be easy enough to find!"

One day, she had caught him with a little boy when they were travelling to a village. "Okitoki, hand over that damned jewel already! We'll end this today... Get that brat away, though..." She raised her right clawed hand with a death glare.

"Souta, go hide in the trees."

"Right, Brother Okitoki."

"Half-demon, what name are you called? Surely you have a name since you are a half-demon." Okitoki asked as he loaded an arrow and took aim at her. "If you tell me your name, I will stop calling you half-demon."

"Stop fucking calling me a 'half-demon', would ya?" Kagome snarled at the insult she had heard over a million times in her life before scoffing and snapping out her name with what little manners she had. "It's Kagome."

"Kagome, you say? I will remember that." He seemed to nod in affirmation.

She thought he was distracted enough and bunched her muscles to charge, only to find herself pinned to a tree with arrows below her elbows and near her knees, making it rather hard to move and gulped, knowing that she was going to get purified and killed by a human male. However, she saw him put the arrow away and turned to leave. "WILL YOU STOP IT?! Why do you never fucking finish me off?!" When he was gone, she used her feet to shove herself off the tree, leaving pieces of her kimono top and hakama still pinned to the tree. "Fucking asshole." She grumbled as the fabric repaired itself as she walked around, trying to find something to eat while figuring out a blind spot for the man.

The next week, she found herself beside a lake and underneath a familiar tree, staring at the stone in front of it. Inscribed with a delicate writing was the name of her mother: 'Masami', with the year she told Kagome she was born as well as the unfortunate year of her death, nearly one hundred and forty years ago. She sat down behind it and stared at the leaves. "Yo... I know I promised to visit earlier, but something came up... There's a way I can make you proud of me... The Sacred Jewel of Four Souls... I can become a full-demon, take out Kikyou and any demon that had called me 'half-breed', 'mutt' or 'weakling' with ease." She paused before huffing. "Problem is there's a priest: Okitoki. I have yet to find any weakness in him. Shouldn't humans have weaknesses? Fuck me... I do wish you could let me know something."

A part of Kagome knew she appeared to appear as a young adult, but she was already over one hundred fifty years old. She knew it was because of the demon blood in her that kept her young-looking as well as made it rather hard to 'age' up mentally. Not only that, she knew little of the other gender nor other females, her only knowledge coming from observing over the years the behavior of those her 'age'. Sighing, she stood up before digging out some flowers from her top and laid them against the stone. "See ya soon, Ma." She took off again, aiming for the village where Okitoki's scent was, assuming it was his village.

One day, Okitoki called her to sit by him. "Kagome, you are there, are you not? Why don't you come down?" Kagome glared the entire time when he spoke again. "This is the first time we've spoken up close."

"So? Your point is...?" She sneered, aware that the way she often sat would've embarrassed a human girl, but she had her koshimaki cover her lower half while looking fashionable, well, as fashionable as someone who dresses herself without help could be.

"I understand you saved my brother Souta."

Kagome mentally cursed the kid and scoffed again, wanting to go back and let the brat die instead. "Oh, that..."

"I want to thank you, too."

"Trust me. The gratitude thing doesn't look good on ya."

Okitoki smiled and looked at her. "How do I look to you? Do I seem human?"

Kagome stared. "Now what the hell are ya goin on about?"

"I show my weakness to no one. I must never have doubts or demons will overcome me. I am human, yet I cannot be human." He said. "You and I are alike; You, a half-demon, and that is why I could not kill you."

"That sounds like an excuse." Kagome snorted and stood up. "Doesn't seem like you." As she turned to walk away, she caught something familiar in his violet eyes.

"You're right. It's not like me..." He smiled and stood up. "Kagome...?"

"Huh? What is it?"

"Nevermind."

Kagome was surprised before she stared as he began to walk away. 'Okitoki...' "Okitoki! Come back here tomorrow!" When he turned around, she flushed a tiny bit. "I mean, I wanna give you something."

"That's good. I was thinking of giving you something."

"Is it the Sacred Jewel!?" She asked before seeing him shook his head. "Shoulda known..."

Here's an updated chapter, taking a little bit from the fourth Inuyasha movie for when they headed to Horai Island the first time. I'll be trying to edit the other chapters to keep showing until they meet up again... Fun! \-o-/
