We shadow traveled right next to Thalia's tree and walked up to the entrance of Camp. I peered down at the amazing sight. Even though I could see it, they still had to invite me in, being a mortal. We started walking up to the Big House.
I still can't believe I'm here, I thought as I looked around. I saw the arena, the cabins, the lava wall, even the little shed where they kept the weapons for newcomers or people who had lost their previous weapons. Annabeth must've seen my expression because she said, "Well, you better believe it, you're going to be here a while."
We finally got up to the big house, just to see Chiron, Mr. D, and two other campers playing on the porch playing cards. Percy walks up to Chiron and asks, "Watcha playin?"
Chiron responded, "I'm playing poker, he's playing Go Fish," pointing to Mr. D, "and I think he's hungry." pointing to one of the campers who was looking at the stack of cards, while one was hanging out of his mouth. (If anyone knows this quote, put in the reviews where you think it might be from).
"Oh, can I play?!" responded Percy, Annabeth just sighed at her boyfriend's idiotic comment.
"I see we have two newcomers to greet," Chiron said, completely ignoring Percy as he pulled up a chair, sat down, and pulled seven cards off the deck.
"What are you playing, Percy?" asked Nico.
"UNO!" Percy said cheerfully, which got facepalm from Annabeth.
"How can you play UNO with normal playing cards?!" Annabeth asked.
"Yeah, we're new. I'm Trish and this is my little sister Coral," I said, still laughing about the whole UNO thing.
Will took that time to speak up, "Chiron we might want to talk to you about Trish and her little sister Coral."
We walked inside and I explained to Chiron about my curse, how I'm a mortal, and Hera. "Please, don't tell anyone about this. I don't know what the immortals would say."
"The immortals? You mean the gods?" asked Chiron.
"Well, I, um…" I stuttered.
"You don't have to answer to me now, child, you can tell me when you're ready."
"Oh, okay." I murmured.
We walked outside onto the porch just in time to see the kid who was previously eating the cards, yank a card out of Percy's hand just for Percy to slap the kid's hand and pull the card out of the his mouth, placing it back into his own hand with the rest of his cards.
I stood there watching Percy and the kid go back and forth for a good while before a bell had rung. I had no clue what was happening, but Percy and Nico obviously did, for they took off running. I went up to Annabeth and Will who were staring at their boyfriends as they took off. "What's happening?" I asked as I put Coral down to walk beside me.
"Lunch," Will said blandly. As we neared the dining pavilion. Percy came up to me, took me by the wrist, and dragged me to a table. Just before I was able to slap Percy's hand off of me, he let go.
"You probably already know who they are," Percy said pointing to two people sitting at the table he had previously pulled me too, "This is Piper McLean and Leo Valdez."
"Ye-yeah I know who they are,"
"Why look so down when you have Mr. Mcsizzle to keep you company." Leo said.
I just looked at him, "You have a girlfriend, named Calypso, or did you already forget?" I said while trying not to laugh.
He just laughed, sat down, and started to fidget with something he pulled out of his tool belt. "Sorry for him," said Piper, "It's good to meet you, and you are?"
"I'm Trish Sutton and this is my little sister Coral," I said while looking down at where Coral was standing. Piper stuck her hand out for me to shake, I just looked at it.
"Is something wrong?" she asked politely.
"Um, sorry it's not you, I'm just not a huge fan of touching," I explained.
"Oh that's okay," she said while pulling her hand back to her side, "Well, that explains why you made a weird face when Percy touched your wrist." I just laughed at that.
"Anyways welcome to Camp Half Blood." Said Leo, still fidgeting with something.
"Thanks," That's when I noticed everyone around me. They were laughing and having fun with their friends, and some of them even were holding hands with others. I noticed a tear falling from my eyes, I couldn't stop, but I wanted to, I didn't want people to see me cry. I looked at Percy and Annabeth, they had concerned looks on their faces, they spoke but I could hear anything.
"I-I have to go for a second."
I slowly left the pavilion, but when I got farther away, I started running. I sat below Thalia's Tree, and let a few tears fall from my eyes. I didn't really know why I was crying, I just was.
After a while, I finally started to calm down. Percy came up to me and sat down. "Hey what's wrong?" He asked. I just stared at him.
After a while I said, "I had plans, Percy. Plans to go to college, plans to go around the country in a car with a friend, plans to just live. You guys seem so happy together with your family and friends. All my family and friends think I'm dead and it's not like I can go up to them and be like 'Hey I'm not dead after all' because they'll get suspicious. I just- ugh!" I said putting my head in my hands.
"Wait, you have plans to go to college and you're only 15! I started thinking about college when I was 17!" he exclaimed
I tilted my head so that I was looking at him, "I've been thinking about college since I was 13, actually."
"Hah, you're definitely different then." He snickered.
"You think? How many cursed mortals come here? Probably none besides me." I threw back, he just chuckled at that.
"Yeah, I had plans too," said a strange yet very familiar voice, "I also had plans to go to college, I came here about a year ago." I peered around the tree and saw a boy about my age sitting there staring at the sky.
He kept talking, "I had a best friend that died a little while before I came here. I never knew her, but I met her online, I told her everything. Well, best friend might be an understatement, I loved her, but I was never able to tell her how I felt before she died." He wasn't crying, but I could hear the sadness in his voice.
"Yeah I had a best friend too, who doesn't know I'm still alive, I kinda had a small crush on him too," I sighed at the memory of him.
"By the way, I'm Jamie." He said lightly laughing. That's when I knew where I had heard his voice before.
I gasped, and stood, "Jamie," I said as calmly as I could, "I'm not dead, I'm right here."
Hope you liked it! This is the longest chapter I have written so far, and probably my favorite. A personal shout out to yet another reviewer named yeetyeetimabeet for being the third ever person to review my story! Goodbye for now! Stay safe.
