The Superior Power

One day, Elite Four member Bruno invited me to Rock Tunnel for a friendly rematch. Leaf tagged along. Brock was also present.

Bruno called out a Primeape. I called out my Gengar. Gengar outmaneuvered Primeape and knocked it out with only one Psychic attack.

He sent out a Poliwrath. I recalled Gengar and sent out my Venusaur. Venusaur outsped Poliwrath and knocked it out with one Energy Ball move.

He called out a Hitmonlee. I recalled Venusaur and called Gengar back out. I Mega Evolved Gengar. Gengar easily outmaneuvered Hitmonlee and knocked it out with a single Psychic.

He sent out a Hitmonchan. Gengar easily outsped Hitmonchan knocked it out with only one Psychic. He sent out a Machamp. Gengar outsped Machamp easily and knocked it out with one Psychic.

"You have defeated me," Bruno said.

Before we left Rock Tunnel, I caught a Mankey and a Machop. The following day, Bruno and Leaf helped me train with my new Pokémon until they respectively evolved into a Primeape and a Machoke. With the help of a Pokémon Center's trading machine, Machoke evolved into Machamp.

I used a Water Stone to evolve my Poliwhirl into Poliwrath. I visited the Fighting Dojo in Saffron City and beat all the Trainers there with my Gengar. I was rewarded with a Hitmonlee and a Hitmonchan. I now had every Kanto region Fighting-type Pokémon registered in my Pokédex.

Bruno was excited and happy we both owned all the Kanto Fighting types. He challenged me to a Fighting Pokémon-only rematch. I accepted. All our Pokémon were evenly matched. Despite that, I was still able to win again.
