.:oOo:.

Nick stood on the front porch of the home he had purchased with Juliette not so long ago. His hand was frozen mid-knock as sounds from inside could be heard. Only a week has passed since Juliette demanded for Nick to leave their house, her having no recollection of him and their past relationship. Nick's chest tightened at the sound of familiar laughter, the tilt carrying a flirty note. It seemed as though Juliette had no plans of remembering Nick, much less working things out between them.

Another laugh, this one deeper and obviously male sounded. Slowly lowering his hand back down to his side, blue eyes glanced to the bag of take-away he had brought over as a means of checking up on his ex. Swallowing the lump growing in his throat, Nick turned on his heel and quietly made his way back to his SUV. Nick suddenly was not as hungry as he once thought…he would rather have a drink.

Stepping into the popular Portland bar, Nick carefully made his way to the only available seat in the place, the barstool having just been vacated by its previous patron. Resting his arms on the bar top and running one hand through his hair, he murmured his drink order to the bartender without once scanning the room. Nick was not there to control the rowdy crowd. He was not there to hunt wesen. The man only wanted to drink in hopes to alleviate some of the pain inflicted by the loss of the woman he had planned on marrying.

"Show me the one to cause you such sorrow and I shall rid the world of them."

The words were whispered in his ear like a fleeting breeze along a calm ocean and Nick felt his lips quirk upwards in amusement despite everything.

"There's that smile."

That same voice whispered again and Nick glanced up until his blue eyes met lust-filled grays. Nick was honestly taken aback by the amount of lust filling those smoky orbs…that expression aimed entirely at him of all people within the bar. Unable to think of a response in that moment, Nick brought his whiskey up to his lips and took a steady swallow. Neatly combed honey locks were short and somewhat swept artfully back around a sinfully handsome face.

Adonis.

The thought entered Nick's mind and the man before him smirked as though he heard Nick's unspoken words aloud.

"Would you like to confess what has you appearing with a dark cloud floating above that beautiful head of yours or would you rather not think about it at all?"

Nick felt his breath hitch, hiding the parting of his lips as the surprising urge to tell this complete stranger everything bothering him by taking another swallow of his whiskey.

"The latter then," The man stated with certainty, holding out a hand for Nick to take. "Delaney Keres."

There was a choice Nick had to make; introduce himself and cut the other man's obvious suggestion down, or take his hand and unspoken offer as it was. Nick hesitated, the uncertainty of it all building doubt inside him. Blue met gray and Nick found himself slipping his hand into the blonde's slightly larger one.

"Nick Burkhardt."

.:oOo:.

People spoke of whirlwind romances, something that involved a fierce and burning passion between two people. Nick was always skeptical of those who spoke of such experience…such love. If it even was love. Nick aligned it with lust and something spur of the moment that two people chose to share without promises of a future together. He wanted forever…not something fleeting. Nick absently told himself to shut up as his back hit the wall of Delaney's entranceway. They barely made it into the blonde's door before they were at one another, all grabbing hands and bruising kisses.

Kissing Delaney was so much different from kissing Juliette. This was neither soft nor careful. Delaney's mouth was firmly pressed against Nick's, taking and taking and just taking. Nick's legs almost gave out beneath him with how weak his muscles suddenly became, that sinful mouth practically devouring him as Delany took every ounce given to him by Nick's parted lips. A moan tumbled free and it took a moment for Nick to realized that sound came from him as Delaney's hands made quick work of removing the brunette's jacket and long sleeve shirt. Both articles of clothing were dropped carelessly onto the ground where they stood.

Those large hands caressed Nick's bare sides as that hot mouth left Nick's kiss-swollen lips and began trailing downwards. Nick craned his head, allowing Delaney better access to his throat and moaned again as teeth nipped at a sensitive spot just above his collarbone. Blue eyes were blown wide. Nick had never realized he was so sensitive, but it was as though his entire nervous system was ablaze. When that mouth reached his ear and a tongue dipped out to trace along the curve of Nick's ear, Nick trembled and Delaney chuckled.

"Have you ever lain with a man before, Nick?" Delaney asked softly, his fingers making quick work of Nick's belt.

Nick felt the brush of cool air greeting him and realized he stood bare of all of his clothes. How, he was unsure as his was so distracted by the other man? Nick shook his head no, wanting to be honest. The glint in his blue eyes dared the blonde to stop and Delaney smirked in understanding, having no urge in doing so. Nick wrapped his arms around Delaney's shoulders, suddenly finding himself lifted up by muscular arms and carried to the pristinely made bed covered in silk. Nick discovered that he enjoyed the feel of silk against his bare skin, the fabric cool against his backside as he equally enjoyed the warmth of Delaney covering his front. Something hard and searing pressed against his inner thigh and Nick's gaze flickered downward to see Delaney's erection.

"I shall have you tonight, Nick, but I plan to savor my time with you," Delaney whispered against Nick's lips, pressing another kiss to those lips and dipping his tongue inside to caress against Nick's as those clouding blues locked back onto his smoky grays.

The words were a spoken promise and if Nick's arms tightened just a little bit more around Delaney, the blonde did not comment on it. Delaney only deepened the kiss and hummed in delight as Nick responded back.

.:oOo:.

The sound that tumbled past Nick's lips was a mix between a moan and a sob as for the fifth time that night he was taken by powerful thrusts that slammed into his prostate with relentless strikes. His vision blurred from the burst of euphoria lighting up his entire body, his sense of being exhausted to the point that darkness began to creep into the corners of his eyes. Nick cried out as his orgasm rocked through his system, his body too spent to offer further release while his inner walls were coated once more with liquid fire.

Through the darkening of his vision, Nick could have sworn those lustful gray orbs flashed silver as Delaney's face seemed to merge into some other being. The change was swift and gone in an instant, quickly being brushed off as Nick faded into a blissfully deep sleep. As he carefully slipped free of the brunette's limp body, Delaney scanned Nick's toned form covered in love-bites and evidence of their carnal actions. Gray orbs strayed to fingerprint-like bruises decorating the insides of Nick's thighs and along his slender hips. Delaney frowned, having used a bit more strength than he had meant to with the Grimm.

Stepping from the bedroom, Delaney grabbed a wet cloth from the bathroom before moving back to Nick's side. As Delaney gingerly began to clean Nick's body, he could not help but lick his lips as a sigh escaped the brunette even in sleep. Gray eyes flashed silver and a sliver of arousal shot through Delaney. Unable and unwilling to fight back his instincts, Delaney leaned down and nuzzled the smooth inner thighs splayed out before him. Moments later he took Nick into his mouth and the brunette's back was arching off of the bed as blue eyes shot open and a hoarse moan broke free.

.:oOo:.

"Burkhardt, are you okay?"

Stifling another yawn, Nick turned to his captain. He absently noted that Captain Sean Renard was just as tall as Delaney. His heart fluttered at the thought of the blonde man and Nick found himself smiling while responding to his concerned captain.

"Never better actually," Nick stated and for once since everything with Juliette happened, he was being honest with himself and those around him.

Sean's brow rose and the raven exchanged a curious look with Nick's partner Hank Griffin who only shrugged, just as lost to what had caused Nick's sudden change. Three weeks ago, Nick was sad and ladled with grief, because Juliette could not remember him and had practically evicted the brunette from their home. Now, Nick was happy and seemed to even be excited about something…less tense too.

"Why?" Nick questioned, glancing at his boss and partner with a slight frown of confusion.

Hank scratched the back of his neck and grinned as he spotted a mark barely hidden by Nick's collar.

"So, did you and Juliette finally get back together?" Hank asked instead, motioning towards his own collar while eyeing Nick's.

Nick's brows furrowed.

"No, of course not. She's seeing someone else," Nick stated as though that little piece of information was the most obvious in the world.

To the brunette, it was. To the others…not so much.

"What?" Sean voiced, his own brows furrowed as he stepped closer to his two subordinates. "Then…you are seeing someone too?"

Hank nodded, agreeing with their captain's words and wanting to know just as much. Nick was smiling again.

"Yeah," Nick admitted, sighing as thoughts of Delaney filled his mind again.

"Oh god, you're in love," Hank groaned sarcastically, sharing a relieved look with Sean. "It sickens me, but I'm glad for you man."

Nick rolled his eyes and tried to go back to the file he was reading before his captain and partner started to question him. He yawned again.

.:oOo:.

Monroe sniffed the air around his friend, catching Nick's attention and causing the Grimm's face to scrunch up in such a way that showed his amusement and discomfort in the action.

"Monroe, knock it off. Why are you stiffing me?" Nick inquired, giving the Blutbad a light shove.

They were supposed to be on a steak-out of sorts for a wesen prowling the mountainous region in Portland after a geologist was killed. Monroe gave Nick's shoulder one last, deep inhale before a lightbulb seemed to turn on above the man's head.

"Succubus!" Monroe exclaimed, grabbing hold of Nick's shoulders.

The grip caused Nick to flinch and he fumbled with Monroe's arms in order to get his friend to let go.

"Ow, Monroe! What the hell?" Nick grunted, finally yanking himself free and taking a step back. "What has gotten into you?"

Monroe buried his fingers in his curls, staring wide-eyed at Nick with his mouth gapped open.

"Oh man…dude," Monroe murmured.

"What?" Nick demanded, growing irritated at the lack of answers. "And what do you mean succubus?"

"She's got her claws in you deep, man. Nick! How long have you been sleeping with a succubus?" Monroe asked, slightly panicked for his friend's wellbeing.

Nick's brows furrowed.

"I haven't been sleeping with a succubus, Monroe. I haven't lain with a woman since Juliette," Nick stated and Monroe actually whimpered.

"In—Incubus…, oh no."

"Answers, Monroe! Now!" Nick shouted, finally fed up and needing to be let in on whatever the Blutbad knew that he did not.

"Nick, don't freak out," Monroe ordered softly.

Nick gave Monroe a pointed look, muttering under his breath about the only one freaking out at the moment was, in fact, Monroe.

"This…guy you've been seeing," Monroe started, taking a deep breath and exhaling. "He's an incubus."

"No, he isn't," Nick stated blandly, unimpressed.

The first time Nick was able to meet someone and move passed his heartache with Juliette and here comes Monroe voicing some absurd assumption. Could Nick not just be left alone and enjoy being with someone that makes his happy. He voiced this to his friend and Monroe had the nerve to stare at him with pity.

"Nick…how long have you been seeing him?" Monroe asked gently, wanting to reach out to his friend but knowing it would be unwelcomed.

He tucked his hands into the pockets of his slacks instead.

"Going on a month," Nick told him with a shrug, eyeing the area around them for the reason they were there in the first place.

"Ho-how much sex have—."

"None of your business!" Nick interrupted with a shout, his cheeks growing warm.

Monroe blushed with embarrassment, but he needed to ask.

"Do you find yourself craving him all the time?"

Nick glared and turned away from Monroe with a huff, running a hand through his short locks before turning back to face the other man.

"Just as much as anyone else would their partner. What are you saying, Monroe? That I can't be happy, because once I am, it's some wesen out to kill me?" Nick questioned, his voice starting out strong but slowly weakening as his shoulders slumped.

Monroe stepped forward, finally placing his hands on Nick's shoulders in comfort.

"No, you more than anyone deserve to be happy, Nick. I'm just saying that…I can smell your partner and he's definitely not human," Monroe stated. "That doesn't mean he's out to kill you…hopefully."

Nick frowned at Monroe, blinking once, twice, and then sighed heavily.

"I knew he was too good to be true," Nick whispered, looking down while thinking of all of the time he has spent with Delaney.

Nick really could picture spending his life with the man. Delaney was thoughtful, caring, intelligent, strong…Nick cut his thoughts off as a rustling sounded nearby. He and Monroe quickly gave chase.

.:oOo:.

"Delaney?" Nick called out as he quietly stepped foot into the blonde's apartment.

His eyes immediately went to the view outside the floor to ceiling windows. The high-rise apartment was in the heart of Portland and gave way to a beautiful sunset over the city. Nick's sense of smell picked up the mouthwatering scent of grilled meat and heard someone moving around in the kitchen. Walking down the entranceway, Nick turned the corner and spotted Delaney pulling something out of the over. Gray eyes spotted him and Delaney's mouth quirked up at the corners. Nick found himself smiling back.

"Ah, you're early. I wanted to have all of this done before you got here," Delaney stated, setting the rack of herbed and garlic vegetables on the counter before stepping around to greet Nick with a kiss.

Delaney caressed the side of Nick's face as he slanted his mouth over the brunette's. Nick's fingers grasped the sides of Delaney's dress shirt, the blonde seeming came straight home from the office and started cooking.

"Smells good," Nick murmured, his eyes fluttering closed as Delaney's mouth trailed along his jaw and down his exposed throat.

"Hmm, you do," Delaney agreed, nipped Nick's neck playfully and earning a chuckle from the brunette.

"Mhm, no, we have to talk," Nick stated, half-heartedly pushing Delaney away as the blonde moved to wedge Nick between himself and the kitchen counter.

Delaney leaned back in order to meet Nick's eyes, but stayed pressed up against him. He ran his fingers along the side of Nick's face before trailing his hands down that lovely back. Nick swallowed as Delaney's hands stopped to rest on his lower back, dangerously close to cupping his ass. Those fingers…Nick pressed his forehead against Delaney's shoulder, before seemingly shaking his head clear and leaning back again.

"What is it that we need to talk about?" Delaney asked when it appeared Nick was having trouble speaking.

"You're an incubus," Nick blurted out and could have cursed Monroe, his cheeks warming at his lack of tact.

Delaney licked his bottom lip, relenting by nodding his head in agreement. Nick tensed up, freezing as his blue eyes stayed on gray orbs.

"Do you mean to kill me?" Nick asked softly, wanting, no needing to know the truth. "Is that why you approached me in the bar that first time?"

Delaney's brow rose and those lips that Nick loved touching him rose in amusement. Delaney's hands began to roam and Nick found his thoughts beginning to drift. He twisted out and away from Delaney, opting to stand out of reached. Delaney would have pouted, but refrained from doing so. Instead, he went over to the stove to cut off the heat and remove the steaks from the skillet.

"No, I don't wish you dead, Nick. I enjoy being with you too much to have you die on me now," Delaney said truthfully, plating up the rest of their meal before taking their plates over to the small dining table. "When I approached you in the bar that time, I did not realize you were the Grimm every wesen in Portland was whispering about."

Nick silently gulped, watching as Delaney went back into the kitchen to grab a bottle of chilled wine and two glasses. Those lovely grays eyes were on him again, watching him closely.

"Then…when did you realize? When did you know I was a Grimm?" Nick asked, remaining where he was as Delaney poured them both generous amounts of wine.

"Oh?" Delaney tilted his head in mock thought, his smirk widening as he looked at Nick. "When I deflowered you."

Nick's face flushed and heat shot up from his toes all the way to his ears. Delaney chuckled, loving how the pink hue brought about the scent of arousal.

"Now, come and enjoy dinner. You'll need your energy for what I have planned tonight," Delaney voiced, holding out a hand.

Much like that first moment they met in the bar, Nick hesitated only slightly before slipping his hand in the slightly larger one. He let himself be pulled flush against Delaney's muscular form and even accepted the man's devouring kiss with enthusiasm. Nick's last thought before settling down for dinner with Delaney was that if he were to die by the hands of an incubus, he might not mind it being Delaney.

.:oOo:.

The bell above the shop's door sounded as Delaney entered Exotic Spice & Tea with a list of items he was seeking. A brunette woman standing behind the counter smiled in greeting, carefully setting aside a large glass jar filled with some type of dried plant.

"Hello, welcome. I'm Rosalee, how may I help you?" She asked and Delaney took a list from his pocket and handed it to her.

"Just a few things for a tea," Delaney stated, catching her brow raising as she read the ingredients he needed.

"You experiencing sleep issues?" She asked skeptically, already moving around the shop collecting everything on the list and placing each item in separate bags.

Delaney nodding, scanning the room in curiosity.

"Something like that," Delaney answered out loud, passing her the funds after she rang up the amount.

She bit her lip as she watched him secure the bag in one hand.

"Sir…I don't mean to pry, but…those ingredients make for a powerful sedative," Rosalee voiced, wringing her fingers together. "The valerian root alone would do the trick."

"Rosalee, between wesen to wesen, how often does just valerian root do the trick?" Delaney inquired.

She seemed to relax then, her smile coming more easily.

"Well, true. I was just being…"

"Cautious?" Delaney asked, returning her smile with his own. "No, I fear this is all for myself."

Rosalee leaned her hip against the counter, crossing her arms in thought.

"May I ask why?"

Delaney chuckled.

"I fear it is the only way for me to keep my hands to myself," Delaney stated and her lips parted in an 'O' fashion.

"You're an incubus," She stated with understanding. "And your partner…they're human?"

Delaney nodded. Rosalee's features softened even more.

"Do they know?" She asked, motioning towards the bag.

"No, and they don't need to."

Nodding, she watched as he left. Footsteps came from the back and she turned to greet Monroe, who immediately froze and started sniffing the air.

"Rosalee, a succubus was just here!" Monroe exclaimed, causing Rosalee to laugh.

"Wrong, it was an incubus," Rosalee stated, pleased that he had finally gotten something wrong when it came to his sense of smell.

Her words seemed to make Monroe even more tense and his eyes flickered around.

"What did he buy?" Monroe asked, looking around as if that would give way to his answer.

She tilted her head, but told him.

"Valerian root, belladonna, yellow lady's slipper, and poppy extract…oh, and some spearmint leaves. Why?" Rosalee asked and watched as all of the blood seemed to leave Monroe's face.

He pulled out his cellphone, quickly dialing a number.

"I have to tell Nick," Monroe muttered.

"What? Why? Oh…he's the human partner."

.:oOo:.

Nick sat in his SUV parked beside Delaney's in the apartment's parking deck. His mind focused on Monroe's phone call, informing him of the possibility of being drugged by the incubus. Nick recalled hearing Rosalee in the background, speaking of her meeting with Delaney, but unable to comprehend what it was she was saying as Monroe franticly told him not to go to Delaney's and most certainly not to accept any food or drink from the man. Of course, Nick was coming to Delaney's if only to confront the blonde. He was…he was just working up the nerve to do so.

Exhaling nervously, Nick straightened his spine and exited his SUV before making his way to the elevator. He entered the code Delaney had given him a month previous when Nick's comings and goings became more and more frequent. Nick absently thought about the overnight bag he kept in the blonde's bedroom and the spare toothbrush in the bathroom designated just for him.

"Fuck…," Nick sighed, running a hand down his face. "When did I move in?"

The elevator dinged before its doors opened and Nick made the short distance to Delaney's apartment. Taking out his keyring, he unlocked the door and silently stepped inside. The lights were dimmed and a soft melody drifted throughout the entire apartment. Nick would have smiled at the romantic atmosphere if not for Monroe's warning.

"Delaney?" Nick called out hesitantly, his eyes scanning the apartment the further he entered.

Not a sound other than the soft music was heard. The living room was empty, as was the kitchen and office area. Walking towards the bedroom, Nick slowly pushed open the door and stood there for a moment just staring at the figure splayed out on the bed. A cup of tea long gone cold sat on the bedside table half empty and it was only the rising and falling of Delaney's chest that told Nick the man was alive. He suddenly realized that the tea was never about drugging Nick. Delaney had drugged himself.

"Delaney!" Nick shouted, rushing over to the blonde's side and cupping his face with concern. "Delaney, wake up!"

Fumbling with his cellphone, Nick struggled to call Rosalee while trying to wake the blonde. His heart raced in his chest as his pats to Delaney's cheeks and his harsh shakes to the man's shoulders did not rouse him.

"Hello?"

"Rosalee, he won't wake up!" Nick all but shouted at her through the phone.

"Nick…I know."

Nick froze mid-shake, his cellphone almost slipping from his grasp.

"Nick, he's wesen. The herbal tea he drank was to sedate himself for the night," Rosalee told him.

Nick's brows furrowed.

"Why would he want to do that?" Nick asked, his blue eyes narrowed on Delaney's peaceful expression.

A sigh was heard.

"He wanted to give you a chance to rest. He told me that it was the only way for him to keep his hands to himself," Rosalee stated. "My guess, is that he did not want to push you."

"Push me? Push me in doing what exactly? Delaney hasn't forced me into anything," Nick demanded, sitting down on the edge of the bed with one hand still caressing the side of Delaney's face.

"Nick, he's an incubus. Incubi and succubi feed off of life force during sexual acts. He probably realized how weary you were becoming and did not want to endanger you," Rosalee told him, before muffling the line to tell someone to be quiet. "He seems to really care about you if he is willing to go to the extent of sedating himself."

Nick swallowed, quietly tell Rosalee goodnight before ending the call. Setting his cellphone down beside the cold cup of tea, Nick began to undress. Bare, he walked to the other side of the bed and climb in beside Delaney, nuzzling the man's bare chest as Nick shifted as close as he possibly could. With one leg slotted between Delaney's and his arm curved over the blonde's chest, Nick closed his head to the sound of Delaney's heart beating. When did he come to love this man?

.:oOo:.

"I don't believe that is a good idea," Delaney stated nonchalantly as he stirred a parmesan base sauce that was to go with the grilled garlic lemon chicken and pasta dish he was cooking.

Nick watched him fondly for a moment from his spot at the island bar in the kitchen, his chin propped up on one hand while his other swirled his bottle of beer. He had started stocking up on beer as all Delaney seemed to have in ways of alcohol was wine and whiskey.

"And why is that? It's not like I haven't seen you woge before," Nick stated absently, his eyes drifting down the line of toned muscles and over broad shoulders.

Amused gray eyes caught Nick's and blue eyes glimmered with humor. Nick grinned, taking another swallow of his beer.

"When?" Delaney inquired, going back to cooking.

When Nick had asked if Delaney wanted him to cook, the blonde had declined, wanting to cook for the brunette and stating how soothing Delaney found cooking to be.

"During our first night together. I was passing out from my fifth orgasm when I saw your eyes glow silver and your face change slightly. Other than that, I cannot recall what you look like woged and I'm curious," Nick stated, opening his mouth to accept a taste of the sauce-coated spoon.

Delaney dipped his head and slanted his mouth over Nick's, kissing the man languidly and getting as taste mixed between Nick's essence and the creamy sauce. He gave Nick's mouth a teasing lick before pulling away. Nick licked his bottom lips as if savoring Delaney's taste, actually contemplating on not finishing his beer in order to let Delaney's taste linger on his tongue. Setting the spoon aside, Delaney placed his hands on the countertop while meeting Nick's gaze. Slowly, as not to frighten the Grimm into reacting violently, Delaney woged.

Gray eyes that were already stunning turned silver and honey blonde locks faded into platinum. These two changes would have been nothing to Nick if not for the bone-white horns curving out the top of Delaney's forehead and a sharp smirk aimed at him, all of his teeth razor sharp. Despite the change, Nick's body quivered with need as pure hot arousal shot through him. Nick shifted on the barstool, his pants uncomfortably tight and Delaney woged back into his human appearance.

Delaney reached over and cupped the side of Nick's face, his thumb brushing the brunette's bottom lip. Nick's tongue peeked out, catching a taste of Delaney's thumb and the blonde growled, his fingers moving further into Nick's hair and tugging him forward over the counter. The kiss was wet and bruising, all teeth and tongue. Nick moaned, his own fingers tangling in Delaney's blonde locks. They continued on like this, not in any rush to part. Only when the smell of food beginning to burn did they part way, Delaney with a curse and Nick a breathless laugh. Yes, he loves this man.
