"So what team are you on?" I asked Damian.
"I was waiting to see what team you were on," he laughed.
"Well… I'll be on whatever team Jazmin isn't on."
"Sounds good to me," Damian said.
We began walking off towards the woods where Chiron had started gathering us, Damian's arm around my shoulder.
"How will we know what team Jazmin is on?" Damian asked.
"Like that," I pointed to Jazmin who was strutting around waving the red team's flag like she owned the place.
"Blue it is then."
"Hey!" Leo yelled as he ran up to us, "what team are you guys on. You're probably on the same team aren't you? Or are you doing that coupley thing Annabeth and Percy would always do?"
"We're on the blue team," Damian stated.
"And for the record, we're not a couple."
"You're not?" Lei asked, confused, "You guys sure do act like one." And with that he ran off.
Damian started to stare at me. "You okay?" I asked.
"I-I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"If you say so."
I watched as Jazmin stared at us as we walked closer to the crowd. "How did the rivalry between you two begin?" Damian asked.
"Well it really started when I smacked Zeus, and Aphrodite got mad, then Jazmin wanted to get back at me for her mom, which she did by helping Devan kidnap Jamie and telling me he was dead. It ended with her being smashed into a wall and being stuck there for… I think three days."
Damian stared at me, awestruck. "I have absolutely no words for that."
"Really? I thought I told you that already."
He just simply shook his head.
Just then a bell rang, signaling that the game had begun. We ran off toward the woods, what we didn't realize is that we were hand in hand.
Once deep into the woods, we started to slow down. "So what's our plan?" Damian asked.
"I don't know, wonder around until we run into someone?" I shrugged.
"Sounds good to me." After walking around for a while, Damian turned to me.
"Hey Trish?"
"Yeah."
He took a deep breath. "Why did you say we weren't a couple?"
I stopped. "We're not, are we?"
"No, but wouldn't you want to be?"
"I, uh, I don't know how to respond to that."
"Oh come on Trish, it's a simple yes or no!"
"Hey don't be so loud, and jeez, I basically just met you."
"But we have spent all that time together, surely you feel something, don't you?"
I just stared at Damian as my eyes began to droop.
"Don't you!?" He said a little bit louder.
"Yes! Fine, yes, b-but I can't. Showing affection does not come naturally for me, it never has. Even with my family, I had never told them I loved them, and even now, I don't know if I still would. I wouldn't let my own family hug me and then blame it on being 'afraid of being touched'. Jamie was the only one I have ever shown affection to, and it was only one time when I kissed him."
"Wait, you kissed him? Is that why you went back down there?"
"Hey, he was also my best friend!" I argued.
"If you can't show affection then what is this!" Damian yelled, holding up our intertwined hands.
"I never said I couldn't show affection, I said it doesn't come naturally for me," I corrected.
"Oh come on Trish, I like you, No I L-," I placed my free hand over his mouth.
"Don't say it, please don't say it," I begged.
"Why?"
"It's nothing personal, just don't say 'love', I've heard that word misused a thousand times before, we don't have to dive in because we got all of the time in the world to say love, just don't say love."
"O-Okay," Damian choked.
Since we were on uneven ground, it wasn't hard for me to lean up and plant a small kiss on Damian's forehead.
"Now," Damian said, "Are you going to let go?" He once again raised our hands.
"Nope," I said as I gripped harder onto his hand.
"Holy Hades, could you be any more annoying," a voice said behind us, we turned and were face to face with Jazmin and three other people. "Seriously, we could hear you a mile away."
"Hello Jazmin," I said coldly.
She just smiled. "Now," she commanded.
Instead of the group attacking us, they attacked Jazmin. Her screams filled the air.
"What are you doing?" I yelled. "Leave her alone."
I pushed through everyone and knelt down beside Jazmin, I don't care how much I hated her, this wasn't right.
"Trish, we should get out of here," Damian warned.
"B-but they just attacked her."
"No Sutton," Jazmin crackled, "you attacked me."
"What?"
"Trish, let's go," Damian said as he pulled on my arm.
"Wait, no."
"Yes, Trish, now! She's trying to frame you!" He managed to lift me up off my feet and pull me away. As we were running, I caught a glimpse of a familiar son of Apollo's face.
