Hello, I am named Charlotte Jane Davies. I turned 11 today because it's my birthday. I know I am supposed to be excited and happy but no one congratulated me or even gave me a present this whole afternoon. It has been pretty normal for me now so I feel nothing. Mummy and dad were busy arguing when I was singing happy birthday for myself.

I dislike my dad. Dad always makes a fight first and if something doesn't follow as he wishes, he would storm. I've also got no friends at all. School kids usually avoid me or tease me. They say that my mum is a witch or something.

How is that possible? My mummy is just an ordinary woman who is in her 30s!

I told mum about this but she didn't show a hint of looking hurt nor angry.

Anyway, something really interesting happened tonight at supper. Mum made me my favorite casserole with extra cheese. She even baked me a birthday cake. It was very tasty and creamy. Mummy and dad surprised me with a brand new polaroid camera I've always wished to have. I thanked them and took my birthday cake picture. It felt great.

Before homework, as is my habit, I checked the mailbox if something came. I stretched out my hands inside the mailbox. I felt something! I grabbed whatever it was and pulled it out quickly. It was a light envelope that had a red stamp named Hogwarts. I carefully opened it and read them.

I was very concerned. I ran to my mum and gave her the letter. Mum read it for what seemed like forever and finally gazed at me. "I thought you're just a muggle…" mum muttered. I was once again confused. "Mum, what do you mean?" I tugged her sleeves. Mum didn't move for a few seconds. "Well…" mum sighed and began to share her biggest, darkest, and deepest secret.

Mum's name is Emmeline Pomfrey. She was born in autumn to a wizarding family. She said she had no brothers or sisters. Mum grew up as a cheerful and beautiful girl by her parent's full love and care. When she turned 11 in 1971, she got the same exact letter as mine on her birthday. And of course, her parents were thrilled to see their proud daughter going to Hogwarts school finally. Mum told me about the sorting hat. She got sorted as Gryffindor. My mum said she had a really nice friend named Lily Evans who was a red-haired girl.

Mum said she was doing great in school until she graduated. Lily was in love with a boy called James Potter. She said James Potter was a bully to a boy named Severus Snape. Mum pitied Severus. Mum moved to a muggle world and met my dad. It was impossible to see Lily because Lily was in a wizarding world. She only heard that Lily gave birth to a son the month before I was born, which means Lily's son is the same age as me!

I hope I can see the Potter boy soon! Mum said she will take me to shop for my preparation for school tomorrow. Dad reluctantly agreed, congratulating me. My mum said I don't need to do my homeworks anymore. I quit my previous school, not receiving any goodbyes from my classmates but I was happy enough. I can't wait for tomorrow to come!

Today was bizarre! Mum took me to London and we went to a place called Diagon Alley. Mum went to Gringotts Wizarding Bank. There were tons of unhuman-like creatures. Mum told me they were goblins. Goblins were busy moving papers and leading people like me to somewhere. Mum suddenly gasped and pointed at a boy and a…giant?

"Hagrid!" Mum exclaimed joyfully. When the giant heard his name, he turned around and eyed mum, mouth opened. "Emmeline!" Hagrid said. Mum hugged Hagrid even though she was half the height of the giant. "This is yer daughter, eh?" Hagrid smiled at me. "Y…Yes, Hagrid. She is Charlotte. She got the letter so I am here to get some stuff." Mum replied. "Little Emmeline has a daughter already!" Hagrid chuckled. "And…who's this? Is this your nephew?" Mum looked at the startled looking boy. This boy had brilliant green eyes, black untidy hair, glasses, and an exact light-bolt scar on his forehead. He was looking at me and my mum. "He…Lily and James'...yes…son…Harry…" Hagrid whispered to mum and I only caught those words. Mum's eyes almost bulged out. "Lily's son!"Mum looked at Harry with a twinkling eyes. "Hi, do you know my mum?" the boy croaked at mum.

"Know your mum! Me and your mum were best friends forever, Harry." Mum looked like she might cry. "This is my daughter, Charlotte. We call her Jane usually. I hope you both can be friends, too." "Hi, J…Jane." Harry stammered. "Hello, Harry." I almost said it under my breath, too shy to speak. Mum chuckled and talked with Hagrid for almost an hour while me and Harry exchanged awkward glances every minute, trying to avoid eye contact.

Me and Harry shared basic facts about ourselves. When mum was back, Harry greeted me. "See you on the train. You've got really nice looks, by the way." Harry waved. I blushed very little. I know I was pretty but I didn't want to mention it to brag. I have golden brown hair, chestnut brown eyes, cupid bow's lips, and a duchess nose. This is embarrassing to say, but I have some freckles. Mum says freckles are OK but I feel bad about it.
