As always, Hermione was the one who woke me up."Morning." I squeaked, as a yawn spilled out from my mouth. Almost without thinking, I just walked straight out to the common room. Hermione looked terrified. Few seconds later, I realized I was out without my robes! You could ask me, what's so wrong with just wearing pajamas to the common room?
Well… my pajamas are very revealing ones. I sleep with very short pants and a sleeveless shirt! To make things even worse, there was Percy, Harry, Ron, Neville, Seamus, Dean, and many more. Ron wheezed and turned red. Harry looked away, blushing, Percy tut-tutting irritably, his eyes shut. Some of the older ones whistled, still staring at my revealing body. I froze for a minute, blinking. Hermione hung my robe on my shoulders, rather harshly. I rushed to my bedroom, too embarrassed to look at the boys' faces.
I slumped on my bed miserably, turning very, vey red. Hermione followed in, taking a long breath. "Jane, are you fine there?" Hermione sat beside me. I quickly rubbed my face and said, "Y…yes, I am fine. The boys would think I've gone mad by now." "No they won't." Hermione assured me.
After Hermione persuaded me for 10 minutes to go out, I was able to get my body out of the girl's dormitory. Ron and Harry were grinning when they saw me with the robe. I sighed with relief and grinned back at them. We headed to the Great Hall for our breakfast. At the moment, I wasn't really feeling like eating so I only had a warm tea. Ron was definitely eating a huge amount of scrambled eggs.
As we headed to our bedroom to change our clothes, Draco joined us. Ron gave Draco a weird look. I tried to act as kind as I could to Draco. "Hello, Draco!" I said cheerfully. Draco forced himself to give a smile to me!? Draco glared at Harry, then at Ron. "I think Draco has something to tell me. I'll go with Draco and talk first." I said loudly as three people could listen. Harry, Ron, and Hermione walked away.
I touched Draco's shoulders to tell him I was back. "So,' I breathed. 'D'you have anything to tell me?" Draco looked sort of nervous. "C..Can we be friends?" Draco muttered, avoiding eye contact. My mind raced. "'Course we can be friends."I smiled. Being friends with a Slytherin boy felt very weird. "Y…You really will be my friend..? No one likes me."Draco said, surprised. "I reckon someone wants to be friends with you!" I shrugged like it was nothing difficult. "Do you want to sit together during lunch later?" Draco said. "As you wish." I nodded with a smile.
We did our charm lesson with Ravenclaw today. Ravenclaws are very wise and quick. I often wonder why Hermione is not on Ravenclaw. It took me straight 30 minutes just to hold the wand properly while Hermione was already doing 5 kinds of different charms. Gryffindor got an extra 15 points thanks to Hermione's excellent skills. After our lesson, I told them about Draco. "Are you nuts! Why do you even want to be friends with Malfoy?" Ron hissed. "No one wants to be friends with him and…I just feel bad for him. He needs someone." I said firmly.
It was lunch time. Harry and Hermione sat opposite me and Ron. Then, I remembered I should sit with Draco for lunch, too. I looked around for Draco and spotted him somewhere on the corner. I rose up from my bench and headed to Draco. "Hey, come sit with me." I said, tugging Draco's robe gently. When I brought Draco, Ron's face turned angry red. Harry looked uncomfortable and Hermione was just ignoring Draco. "It's OK, they're just…" I whispered. Draco sat beside me awkwardly.
No one gave Draco attention. I began to talk with Draco. "So Draco, can you tell me about your life? I'm a half blooded one by the way." I said as I forked my boiled potato. DRaco stared at his food for 5 seconds. "I…am a pure blooded wizard. I've got no brothers or sisters." Draco said, still staring at his food. I gazed at Ron who has 6 siblings. Ron shrugged. "Hey, me too! I've got no siblings at all." I cheered.
"I…actually have a house elf named Dobby. He was my only friend before I came to Hogwarts. I hate to see Dobby always getting threatened by my father. I hope Dobby's fine." Draco turned his mournful gaze at me. His spine-chilling cold gray eyes looked like a puddle of tears. His silky blonde hair lost its color. It looked kind of white rather than yellow. His mournful gaze was too much for me. I swallowed an instant surge to give Draco a warm hug. "How very depressing…Let's hope your dear friend Dobby is doing good." I said softly and warmly. He was still not eating. "But Draco, I think you should have your lunch. You're going to starve." I remarked worriedly. Draco shook his head slowly. "I…can't eat." Draco sulked.
I took Draco's spoon and scooped a spoonful of tomato soup. "Come on, eat, Draco." I gently whispered. I swung the spoon near Draco's mouth. Draco looked at me and ate the soup when I pushed the spoon inside his mouth. Several students gave me a shocked, surprised, or mixed look. Ron gasped, Harry's mouth open, and Hermione's hawk-like eyes bigger. I completely ignored them."Great job! You'd better hurry so you'll have your dessert." I smiled. Draco's very pale cheeks turned peachy.
