Chapter 6
A tense few seconds went by until his strong, cool voice broke through. "Aimee, hey, are you alright?"
Relief flooded through her. "I'm fine, I just…wanted to talk to you." She felt a lump start to form in her throat. "I missed you."
He couldn't ignore the hurt in her voice, and felt a rush of guilt for not getting in touch with her sooner. "I missed you too…I'm sorry I haven't called."
Aimee sighed lightly also feeling badly. "It's okay, I told you I was gonna be busy, I could've called you too." She said with a sniff.
"I…was afraid if I called you, I wouldn't be able to stop myself from coming to see you." Brooklyn admitted.
She gave a light chuckle. "I get it, I was afraid that if I asked you to come someone might see you and you'd be in danger. I kinda forgot I could just call you on this thing."
"Same." He said with a half-smile. "Sorry to make you feel like I didn't care. I thought I was protecting you."
"I do feel very safe." She said with a smile, "but I'd feel safer in your arms." She finished.
He let out a harsh breath. "Oh Aimee…I'd do anything to have you in my arms again. You have no idea."
She felt a delicious thrill at his words. "Oh yeah? You're not the only one who's had a hard time with it." Feeling brave she added. "I miss your touch."
Brooklyn was suddenly very glad he had decided to take this conversation in private in the place he and Broadway had talked previously. "I…wish I could touch you now. I'd show you just how much I've missed you."
She shivered slightly. "I…really want that. I want you to show me."
"Now?!" his strangled voice came through, causing her to laugh. "No…I wish we could but I have and exam tomorrow morning and I can't be up all hours of the night no matter how tempting it sounds."
He let out a shaky breath and said. "I get it, it's so good to hear your voice again."
"Yours too, I'll give you a call when my exams are all done." She said, feeling a yawn coming on.
"Sounds like you should get some sleep. Sweet dreams Aimee." Brooklyn said.
"Good night…Oh Brooklyn?" She asked quickly, bursting with what she was about to tell him.
"Yeah Aimee?"
"I wanted you to know I'm doing my final project on the history of Gargoyles." She said proudly.
His face split into a wide grin. "That's great babe, I can't wait to read it." He exclaimed.
"Of course, I'll let you know when it's done." Yawning again she said. "Good night Brooklyn."
"Night babe," he said clicking his communicator off.
Feeling more tired by the second. Aimee clicked off the communicator and placed it back on her nightstand. She lay back on her pillow awash in a sort of light-heartedness that she hadn't felt in days.
Brooklyn hopped back down to join his clan-mates, they must have noticed the goofy smile on his face because Broadway said, "Looks like someone's in a good mood."
"Yeah, just talked with Aimee, you were right Broadway." Brooklyn said with a grin.
"'Course I am, I'm always right." He puffed.
Brooklyn just sighed shaking his head. "Here we go…"
That morning he greeted the dawn with a smile instead of a scowl.
It had been nearly two weeks since the Quarrymen had put their plan into motion and had yielded no results. Every time a call came in it was someone trying to claim they were friends with Gargoyles or knew someone who was and when they were investigated it was either a dead end or an unstable individual who really believed they were friends with a Gargoyle.
Needless to say, John Castaway was beyond frustrated. "Someone must have tipped them off." He'd said to his followers. "If I find out it was one of you punishment will be swift and without mercy…"
Nobody spoke which only infuriated him more. "We're going to have to put our other plan into motion. I had hoped to use it as a last resort but I have taken the liberty of starting construction on a new building downtown. It is the perfect place to lure the Gargoyles into a trap." He proceeded to explain his plan unaware that there was indeed a spy in the midst recording his every word and transferring it to Mr. David Xanatos.
Xanatos had made true on his word that he owed the Gargoyles for saving his son. If he could find out Castaway's plans for getting rid of the gargoyles then he would do everything in his power to prevent their destruction.
Upon hearing the trap Castaway was designing he quickly thought of a plan of his own to save the Gargoyles from an untimely demise. Maybe then, his debt to the Gargoyles would be repaid.
He watched his son Alexander play with Lexington and knew he'd made the right choice in having the Gargoyles as allies instead of enemies.
Aimee felt like she was going crazy, she had two tests left still had to finish her essay on her final project and very little time to do it all. She didn't want to call Brooklyn and be distracted but at the same time she thought she would explode if she had to read one more paragraph from her textbook.
She flopped down on her back and stared at the ceiling, her thoughts drifting back to Brooklyn. She was about to give in and call him when her cell phone started ringing. Clicking TALK she said, "Hello?"
"Hey sweetie," the voice on the other end said, causing her face to brighten.
"Hey dad! Ugh I'm glad you called, I needed something to distract me from my mountain of work." She said smiling.
"Oh that's right, I guess you'd be in the middle of exam week." He father said, "Don't work too hard, remember to take a break sometime."
"I know dad, oh I've got so much to tell you. I'm met someone!" She froze, the words had just tumbled out before she could stop them.
"That's great sweetie, from one of your classes?" he asked.
She was going to have to lie; as much as it pained her to do so she couldn't compromise Brooklyn's safety any further. "Yeah, he jumped in and saved me from a guy who was attacking me when I was on my way home." At least that part was true.
"You were attacked? Are you alright? Did you tell the police?" Her father's panicked voice asked.
"Yes, yes and yes. Don't worry dad, I'm totally fine, like I said, he saved me and then the police were called." She said, hoping he wouldn't pry much too further.
She heard a sigh of relief before he spoke again. "Good, I'm glad. You're seeing each other now?" he asked.
"Yes, well, as much as we can. He uh…works the night shift and sleeps during the day." She said.
Her father chuckled, "I see you've got your work cut out for you then." He paused. "I've got good news, I'm nearly finished here and I'll be returning home soon."
"That's great dad, I'm looking forward to seeing you." Aimee said with a glad smile on her face.
"Yeah, should be a couple more weeks. Anyway I'll let you get back to work now."
"Thanks dad, talk to you later." She said.
"Bye sweetie,"
"Bye," she clicked the phone off and gave a soft sigh. She would one day have to tell her dad the truth about Brooklyn but for now she'd wait. The Quarrymen had to be taken care of before she told anyone else about him. She cared about him too much to do anything more that could possibly endanger his life.
It was days later when Brooklyn and the others found themselves in an altercation with between two groups of gang members downtown. It was a difficult battle; the men were armed with all kinds of weapons. Although the gargoyles more than made up in strength against them they were still outnumbered.
Broadway, Angela and Lexington were trapped behind an overturned car trying to avoid heavy gunfire. Brooklyn was engaged with a couple of men armed with a knife, a laser gun and even a crossbow. He was doing his best to avoid their attacks but the guy with the knife had managed to get the jump on him and slashed his left shoulder.
Eyes blazing, he tossed the man over his shoulder causing him to crash into the brick wall behind him. He used his tail to trip the other two. He was about to jump towards the others when he felt a sharp pain in his leg. He roared and looked down to see an arrow protruding from his upper thigh.
"Sonofabitch!" he cursed, and stalked back over to the man holding the crossbow while ignoring the pain. He ripped the weapon out of his grasp and crushed it to pieces. Then lifting the man by his collar he threw him back against the brick wall. The man let out a cry and sagged to the ground, unconscious.
"A freakin' crossbow…really?!" Brooklyn griped as he limped away.
By now the police had arrived and with their help, the three others had managed to subdue most of the attackers. They looked up in alarm when he made his way over.
"Oh. God, Brooklyn are you alright?" Angela cried upon seeing him.
"I'll be fine, just gotta pull this damn thing out." He groaned knowing how much that was going to suck. He was about to do just that when Broadway cried out.
"Wait! You'll bleed out if you do that. It's better to wait until you can bandage it right after." He said.
Lex nodded in agreement. "We'll patch you back up at the castle." He said.
"Actually guys, I got a better idea, I know someone a lot closer who can help." Brooklyn said, noticing a sign for Columbia University.
"Alright man, go get fixed up, just call us so we know you're okay." Broadway said as he and the others finished grabbing gang members and turning them over to the police.
Brooklyn gave them a nod and then started to ascend the building. The cut on his shoulder was mostly superficial but arrow was lodged pretty deep in his leg and was starting to throb.
He grunted in pain, making his way to the top. He could spot Aimee's residence building just a couple of blocks away. Spreading his wings he caught and updraft and made his way there. He had a feeling she wouldn't mind him dropping in for a visit.
Indeed, she was still awake and just finishing up her final assignment. She had just clicked 'save' when she heard the tell-tale sign of foot steps outside her screen door. Her heart leapt into her throat as she jumped up to see him…only to gasp in horror at the state he was in.
"Oh my God, Brooklyn!" she cried upon seeing him, blood trickling down from his shoulder and his leg. "Jesus Christ, what happened to you?!"
He limped his way inside and she helped him to a chair. "Honestly! Who even uses crossbows anymore?!" He exclaimed, hissing in pain as she examined his leg.
"And the shoulder?" she asked, running to the bathroom for the first aid supplies. She kept them well stocked after the first time she'd patched him up.
"Knife, it was a gang fight, the guy got the jump on me that's all." He muttered.
It was clear to her that no matter how strong he had appeared to be, he was not invulnerable. It made him more human in her eyes and her heart broke seeing him in such pain and discomfort.
She sat on the edge of her bed with the supplies. "Okay, this is gonna have to come out. Then I'll bandage it up." She said.
Brooklyn gave her look of understanding. "I'll do it." He said, "God, this is gonna suck so much…" he drew in a breath and pulled, crying out in pain as the arrow was ripped from his flesh. "Shit…" he uttered, breathing harshly.
Blood began pouring out of the wound and Aimee had to work quickly laying on several large bandages to staunch the flow. She then wrapped gauze around his thigh, tying it so that it was snug but not too tight. She wiped the rest of the blood off of his leg with a wet cloth. "There, now let's see about that shoulder."
The arrow was discarded in her garbage can and she started to clean his shoulder wound with the same wet washcloth. After it was only just oozing blood she wrapped a smaller bandage there and secured it with medical tape. "Now…do you hurt anywhere else?" she asked.
He pretended to look deep in thought. "Now that you mention it…I do think I'm hurt here." He said pointing to his finger.
"Aw, do you need me to kiss it better?" she asked with a mischievous gleam in her eyes.
"Yes please…" he said in a low voice.
She took his hand in hers and laid a soft kiss on the pad of his finger. She felt him shiver slightly. "Anywhere else?"
He gestured to his palm. "Here…" he said, letting out a sound of approval when her lips touched the sensitive skin there. "Also, here." He said, his hand hovering over his chest where his heart was.
She pulled the chair closer so that her legs were in between his. Being mindful of his injury she placed a hand on his chest and kissed him once, and then a couple more times. "I think I see something here." She murmured, kissing the hollow of his throat. She felt him swallow, his arms clutching her shoulders now.
His breath caught when he felt her lips move from his neck, and down the length of his beak. It was a sweet torture and the dam nearly broke when her lips just barely grazed his. Unable to take anymore he pushed her back onto her bed and covered her body with his own. He attacked her mouth then with a deep groan, wrapping his arms under her body.
She returned the kiss with the same ferocity, pushing her fingers into his hair and one hand splayed on his chest. She moaned when her felt his lower body work its way between her legs pressing right against her core. That felt so good, she ended up involuntarily pressing her hips up into him to adjust to this new position.
He released a low growl at that and started pressing deep open-mouthed kisses on her neck and chest above her breasts. He placed one hand on her flat stomach and pulled a way for a second, silently asking her if he could continue.
She nodded in the affirmative and moved his hand to her breast, sighing in pleasure as he gave it a light squeeze.
Well those felt amazing Brooklyn thought as he gently palmed and rubbed his hands over her chest. He could feel little nubs hardening with his touch, that was new. He flicked one of them with his thumb and was awarded with a sharp moan. "Ah! Don't stop." She cried.
It was pretty easy to understand that she really liked it when he touched her there. Gargoyle males did not have any for there was no need for them. It was both fun and extremely arousing to play with them.
Pretty soon she was panting with desire and pressing her hips up into his hardness. He wanted her badly then, he would bury himself in her and…
"Ouch! Damn it." he cried, bumping his thigh on her knee that she'd try to raise up to give him better access.
"Oh shit, I'm sorry Brooklyn." She said placing a hand on his face. "I totally forgot, let me see."
He was still hard when he rolled off of her so she could check. Blood had managed to soak through both of the pads and she'd need to change them for some fresh ones.
"Let me just quickly change these and then we can do something about your um…problem." She giggled and bounced off the bed to grab some fresh bandages. She then knelt between his legs and quickly unwrapped his wound. The blood flow was a lot less she noticed with satisfaction. She discarded the old wrappings and replaced them with new ones.
"Now…lets see what's under there." She grinned placing her hands on his belt buckle.
Holy shit, she was serious. Brooklyn's hand immediately flew out to still hers. "You don't have to do that…" he said nervously.
Aimee raised her eyebrows at him. "Well that's good, because I want to. You've been through hell tonight Brooklyn. Let me make you feel good." She lightly brushed his hand away.
His breath caught in his throat as he choked out. "Okay…" and added. "Hope you're not too shocked by what's under there."
She started to undo the belt and quipped. "I've seen a dick before Brooklyn."
Laughter burst forth at her comment. "Yeah, a human one maybe."
She palmed him through the fabric of his loincloth causing him to groan in pleasure. "Feels pretty much the same to me."
Words failed him now as she undid the belt and slowly lowered the piece of cloth down his hips. It was a bit of a chore getting it out from under his tail but in a few moments he lay before her bare as the day he'd been hatched.
He gave her a nervous smile. "So…?"
She took her time examining him and while yes it did look human, at the same time it was uniquely him. The shaft was the same colour as the rest of his body, but faded into a lighter pink near the tip. She also noticed with amusement that so were his testicles, they too looked much like a human male's.
"It's incredible, just like the rest of you." She breathed, and let her hand skim across his length causing him to twitch slightly.
This was more than Brooklyn could've dreamed, this beautiful girl touching him there was just about the best thing ever to happen in his thousand years of being alive.
Suddenly she removed her hand and retrieved a small bottle of liquid from the drawer in her nightstand. "What's that?" he asked.
"Just some lube, believe me, this stuff makes all the difference. Welcome to your first hand-job." She grinned and squeezed some onto her palm.
She positioned herself on his uninjured side then and let her hand close around his shaft. He was not so big that her thumb and her finger couldn't touch but definitely larger than she'd had. It was extremely smooth and twitched at her touch. She gave him an experimental thrust and moved her hand from base to tip gauging his reaction.
His breath hitched and he gave a slight moan. "Holy shit." He gasped.
"Feel good?" she asked, giving him another couple of pumps.
"Hell yes." He breathed.
She continued and said. "You're going to have to tell me what you like and you're not going to tell me to stop."
His breathing had quickened, and he was trying very not to dig his talons into her bed sheets. "Tighter…" he managed. "Faster."
She tightened her hand a bit more and increased her pace, enjoying the little sounds and expressions he was making. "Like this?"
He groaned, "Fuck" he cried out. "Feels, so good…" One of his hands found its way to an abandoned textbook digging into it with his claws.
Aimee continued her ministrations, placing one hand on his chest to feel his smooth skin there. "Come for me babe," she said softly.
Another gasp. "Almost there," he said in a strangled voice.
A few moments later his body tensed and he came with a deep moan ending in a growl. Hot fluid coated her hand as she slowed her pace, feeling his body shudder in pleasure. She could feel his heart pounding as she released him, smiling as his heaving breaths and awestruck expression.
It took another thirty seconds for Brooklyn's breathing return to normal and for him to form actual words. "Wow…" He gave her a look of total admiration just then, but noticed her sticky fingers. "Sorry about that…"
She just smiled. "It's okay, sex is messy." She slid off the bed and walked to the bathroom to give her hands a quick wash. She then crawled back beside him, laying his her hand on his chest and one leg over his hips.
He gathered her into his arms just then and captured her mouth with his. He tried to pour as much passion and appreciation into it and was rewarded by a soft moan. "That was amazing...thank you." He said finally.
"Glad you liked it." She said, feeling like she could use a release herself, but it could wait.
He seemed to be struggling over his words then. "Did you…can I? Would you like me to do that for you?" he asked.
She blushed at the absolute adorable way he had offered to return the favour. "I would love that but I think we gotta call it a night. I still have to proof-read this paper." She said giving him an apologetic look.
He kissed her again, trailing from her lips to her neck and gave her chest one final squeeze. "Next time then, I want you to show me exactly how you like to be touched…" he said in a low voice.
She felt a rush of desire and could almost feel herself getting wet all over again. "Okay…" she said, kissing him deeply.
Brooklyn retrieved his loincloth then and re-did the belt. "Uh, sorry again," he said, gesturing to her nearly shredded textbook.
She laughed, and tossed it in her recycling bin. "It's okay, I was done with that one anyway."
He kissed her once more, offering a sheepish smile. "Good night." Still walking with a slight limp he made his way to the door. "Until tomorrow." He said.
"Tomorrow." She echoed and watched him fly into the night.
End chapter 6
A/N So...thoughts on that? I thought it was a pretty good scene. Also I do think the crossbow is a really cool weapon but not if it's lodged in one's thigh.
