Halfa's are possibly the rarest of all ghosts known to their kind, as they have a human and a ghostly side. Having two sides, they can be seen as either good or evil or just as a plain annoyance. There is no exact cause of how a Halfa is created, but it is thought that a mass of Ectoplasmic energy, mixed with electricity, created in the powering up of what ghosts call a portal could be one of the causes as well as maybe a human getting caught in said portal creation. The DNA bonds are broken and the ectoplasmic molecules are fused, thus the creation of this being.

There are no known Halfas in existence but there are rumours that Halfas grow and mature, their powers start to show through into their 'human' side and they steadily become stronger. They are very hard to spot among others, yet when they feel like it, they can disappear and then reappear in their 'dead' or 'alive' forms. This is usually done in secret as they would not want to be discovered as being different. They are rarely in two places at once and must, therefore 'transform' to fool those that they do not want to find out about their state. They can have many enemies, and by contrast, allies.

Their power levels vary.

Harry sighed as the writing from the page started swirling and looked at up Hermione as she carried on researching and looking for any possible mention of Phantom. Immediately after Phantom had gone, they had chased after the Ghostly book of Ghosts and had discovered this chapter on Halfas. There wasn't much on the subject, just the two paragraphs and a picture of a girl dressed in a Japanese Geisha robe with the traditional hair style and split down vertically down the middle to show that the other side had white hair in the same style and the Robes colour was the green negative of the pink. Her eye, brown on the 'human' side was glowing and purple and the ghostly hand looked to be glowing in a green substance. That side also had a white outline around it.

"What have you found, Harry?" Hermione asked, finally looking up from the page that she was reading. Harry licked his lips and shook his head, wanting to make heads or tails of this new find.

"I don't know what to think." Harry replied, turning the book over and showing the page that he had found on the rare species of ghost. Immediately starting to read, Hermione flicked through the other book, looked back at it and said, "You thinking this, Harry. People can't be on both sides of life itself. It's impossible."

"What if it wasn't? I mean, we don't exactly know how Danny got here, and Phantom often disappears at odd times, only for Danny to appear and vice versa."

"It's just impossible, Harry."

"We don't know that. I mean, Danny's parents invent things that hurt ghosts, right? What if they created something that made a Halfa?" Harry told her, making her look up at him in question and then shrug.

"It just seems crazy, Harry." Hermione sighed, "Come on. We better get back to the Common Room. We can ask Danny about Phantom later."

Nodding, Harry closed the Ghostly book and packed it away into his bag, getting up and following Hermione out of the library and into the hallway. Looking about as another bout of cold hit them, Harry saw a glowing blur flying down the same hall and watched as it turned see-through and felt like he had just been plunged into an ice bath. Not a minute later, Nick was floating down the hallway and stopped in front of them and asked, "Ah, Harry, Hermione. You haven't seen Phantom, have you? He said that he would go on patrol and keep a look out for Peeves. He's got us all helping him."

"I think he just went through me." Harry gasped, regaining his breath, coughing slightly and looked to Hermione as she did the same and replied, "I thought you'd be used to it by now."

"It's not quite the same as walking through a ghost like Nick." Harry answered, Looking at Nick and quickly adding "No offence, Nick."

"None taken, young Harry." Nick replied, amused and shook his head before sighing and replying, "I'd better catch up to him. Clockwork only knows who'll be out tonight. My guess is Professor Umbridge."

"Yeah, we better get back to the Common Room." Hermione said, grabbing Harry's arm and pulling him away, skirting around Nick as he went on his way. Harry waved silently and walked with her, going through their usual passageway and passing the Baron and Myrtle, who had decided to come out of her bathroom for a little while, talking and floating around as if on the lookout for something as they emerged and turned onto the right corridor for the Gryffindor Tower.

Ignoring the ghosts as they went the opposite way, Harry looked to the floor and said, "Why d'you think it's impossible for there to be a Halfa? That book explains it all."

"No, it doesn't. How do we know that that book isn't a joke made by Fred and George? It's just so impossible." Hermione answered, letting go of Harry's arm when he twisted it to get loose. Catching up with the girl, he nodded, yet the thought wouldn't leave him as he brought out the map once more, cast the spell that activated it and looked for Phantom's name somewhere on the map's surface.

"We don't know that, though. We saw Danny's reaction to that word when Ron said it out loud." Harry told her, noticing the mentioned boys name in the Astronomy Tower and folded the map up into his pocket but not before saying the words that wiped it.

Hermione still looked sceptical as she nodded and looked back at him, saying, "It could have just been a word that Phantom told him. Do we really know if that ghost is one."

"You better believe it, Gryffie." Came a cackling voice from above them both, causing them to look up and see the very poltergeist grinning like someone who knew more than the two-thirds of the Golden Trio did. Swooping down, Harry saw the glint of mischief in his eyes before the pest yelled out, "STUDENTS OUTSIDE OF CURFEW! STUDENTS IN THE CORRIDOR!"

Both humans froze as footsteps ran towards the source of the ruckus and saw ghosts come from the walls, surrounding them all, Danny Fenton running along soon afterwards, out of breath and redfaced. Looking about and seeing Peeves hovering above them, Danny glared, his eyes flashing in anger for a minute before he stepped towards the duo and grabbed them, saying, "I thought you were back at the common room."

"Like you're one to talk, Phan-" Peeves started to say before he was shut up with a, "I swear to Clockwork, Peeves, one more word and I will sic the Fruitloop on you if you don't shut the fuck up. Right now!" from a neon green-eyed Danny Fenton.

I should be getting ready for the day ahead, but thought of sharing this with you first. Enjoy please and do the usual. Oh, and I am so sorry for Danny's mouth. I'd written this eons ago and forgot about it.
