Once Sarah had adjusted to her injury and was in less pain, she was able to better adapt to helping take care of Emmy more, with Elliot and Olivia's help. They'd set up a makeshift changing table next to the couch, and because Emmy was only four weeks old, Sarah spent a lot of time holding her on the couch.

Liv laid blankets out on the floor, so that Sarah could also sit on the floor and play with Emmy when she was awake.

"She's such a content baby," Olivia marveled, as they watched Emmy stretching out her arms and legs.

"She really is," Sarah agreed. Emmy loved being held and immediately snuggled into whoever was holding her. Eli and Noah loved getting to hold her when they got home from school and Elliot cuddled with Emmy as soon as he got home from work.

"I was really angry about getting suspended," Olivia said, "but I love having the extra time with you and Emmy. Noah was slightly older when I adopted him, so I haven't gotten time with a newborn like this."

"Do you have a date for Noah's adoption hearing yet?" Sarah asked.

"In six weeks," Olivia responded. "He is so excited. And Elliot is thrilled."

"You've done an amazing job blending your families," Sarah marveled. "You make it look so natural."

"Thank you," Olivia answered. "It's gone much more smoothly than we expected. I'm grateful."

Olivia smiled at Emmy, as Sarah bent down and kissed each of Emmy's toes. "I love you, Emmy Rose," she murmured. "I love you so much."

Sarah nuzzled Emmy's dark hair, which was already starting to curl a little. "She looks so much like you," Olivia said.

"That was one of the only things I worried about," Sarah admitted. "I wanted her so much, but I worried what it would be like if she looked like the assailant. She doesn't though. She's her own self. And she does look exactly like me as a baby."

"I've been thinking about contacting my nurse Alex's friend," Sarah told Liv.

"The one who also had a baby after being assaulted?" Liv asked.

"Yeah. Alex gave me her contact information before I was discharged and told me she was happy to connect if I wanted to. I do but I'm not sure if I'm ready yet," she admitted.

"You don't have to do it right now," Liv responded gently. "You just had her a month ago, and you have a broken foot."

"I think I'm scared of her getting labeled with my assault," Sarah said. "Even though I know Alex's friend wouldn't, it's like by meeting her, I'm making that association."

Olivia said, "you are so loving towards her. It doesn't seem like you connect her to the assault at all."

"I don't think I do," Sarah said thoughtfully. "After getting over the initial shock of finding out I was pregnant, I'd been thinking about having a baby and wanting one for so long, being pregnant felt completely separate."

"I've never asked you," Sarah asked Liv hesitantly. "We've spent so much time with you. Does it bring up pain for you about your own childhood?"

"It doesn't," Liv said honestly. "Maybe a little when we first met, and I thought about who my mom could have been with support and therapy. But seeing your love for Emmy and what an extraordinary mom you are has been healing."

She reached over and hugged Sarah. "I'm so glad to have you in our lives."

"Thank you," Sarah responded. "Me too."
