Morning came slowly it seemed, my dreams mixed with frightening images and sounds.
But eventually, the sounds turned into the sweet melody of bird songs, and I awoke to a new morning.
It was a rare day off, and following my usual routine, I had a shower, made a cup of coffee and picked up the morning paper.
As I read, my eyes went straight to an advertisement -
"Do YOU want an interview with God? Do you want a chance to 'talk things over'?"
It continued to give instructions to "meet God" at the local park at 1pm that day, to have the interview.
I rolled my eyes but couldn't help but feel a little intreuged... I mean, God wouldn't want to see my personally, but it would be nice to ask some questions about rubbish stuff that happened in the world, just out of curiosity.
I then began to giggle to myself at the absurdity of believing for a moment that this could be God.
It was more likely a religious leader looking to bring interested people to hear their sermon I'm the middle of the park.
I glanced over at my Dog, Lex, and smiled. Dogs - they were perfect!
"Well Lex, shall we go to the park today?" I asked.
Immediately, he jumped up, tail wagging fiercely.
He snuggled in and licked my face, craving affection - of course I responded immediately, giving him all the love I could muster.
The morning was uneventful really - we had breakfast and watched TV - I told myself I wasn't really going to the park to meet God, I was only taking Lex out.. but as the time crept closer to 1pm, I couldn't help but keep glancing at the clock.
Eventually, I got Lex ready and left for the park at 12.50.
It was only a 5 minute walk, and Lex thoroughly enjoyed himself as he ran through the trees.
Suddenly, he yapped at me and ran round me excited, almost willing me to follow him - I did so, curious, and then I froze when I spotted an isolated area, seemingly separate from the whole world...in it was a table with a chess board on, 2 chairs... and a man sitting with his back to me. Already his aura was that of a respected fellow...maybe like a serious school master, or a strict Father.
I gulped, feeling afraid for a moment.
My head was filled with memories of my wrong-doings and my self doubt. I then shook myself, and scolded myself for being foolish - of course it wasn't really GOD sitting there...it was just a man. Perhaps he was an interesting man, but yes...definitely just a man.
Lex yapped again and ran towards him with glee, immediately jumping up at him.
I froze again - why did Lex react like that?
Dog treats...that had to be the answer!
So, taking a deep breath, I approached...
