Chapter 1

"Alright my love, promise to be good?" A light skinned woman cupped her 11 year old daughter's face.

"Yes mother," the girl smiled at her as her mother kissed her forehead. Her mother looked at the girl just staring, the two looking almost alike.

"You're going to have such a good time at Hogwarts, and perhaps you'll probably be in the same house as I was. I mean look at you, while just as lovely as when I was your age," The girl's mother continued to smile at her.

"What am I chopped liver? Am I not going to do well?" Up walked a light skinned boy who is the same height as the girl only slightly taller. "Maybe I'll be smarter than any Ravenclaw at Hogwarts," The boy continued to boast. The woman grabbed the boy and pulled him into a hug, "Mother stop you're going to wrinkle my robes."

"I'm going to miss all of you," The mother hugged her children. "Andesite you can see your friends on the train, please help your siblings get the trunks." The mother turned to a teenage girl with light skin and brown hair wearing the Hufflepuff uniform.

"Mother, they know how to get on a train they've been on a train before," Andesite rolled her eyes as she walked over to her mother. Her mother stared at her until Andesite sighed, "Fine," she pointed her wand at the Twin's trunks. "Accio," The trunks then slid towards them.

"Very good darling, you are getting so much better," her mother smiled. Andesite smiled, feeling proud of herself. "If only your father would come out of a study for a minute to come say goodbye to his children, oh well he's a busy man. I'm pretty sure he wishes you both the best of luck."

CHOO CHOO

A whistle blew as the Hogwarts express pulled into the station,"Alright my love, this is it. Slate, look after your sister and Andesite- ANDESITE!" She snapped at her teenage daughter who was not paying attention, "Look after your siblings, and you have your permission slip for Hogsmeade?" Andesite pulled out the piece of parchment paper; showing it to her mother before putting it back in her robes, "Very good, now have a wonderful 3rd year," she watched her oldest daughter get on the train; then turned to her two youngest. "You two have a great time, you're going to love it I promise."

"Goodbye mother," Slate waved, pulling his sister onto the train.

"Goodbye we'll see you for Christmas," the girl smiled at her mother one last time before getting on with Slate. The last bunch of children got on the train as it began to move, the kids waved outside the windows to their parents, "Want to sit together?" The girl asked her brother.

"Sure", Slate said, leading her to an empty booth. However, as they entered three boys pushed by them. "Hey what gives?!" Slate yelled at them.

"You snooze, you lose mate," a Dark skinned boy said smugly.

"I'm not your mate, and we were here first," Slate glared. The boys laughed, one of them laughing at him.

"I don't see why we can't all sit here," the girl tried to diffuse the situation. The boys remained silent for a minute, until the girl spoke up again; " I'm Maribelle", she smiled nervously. The boys remained quiet, looking as if she had slapped them.

Slate cleared his throat, "I'm Slate." He stared at them until a brown skinned boy leaned forward.

"I'm Carter," the boy gave the twins a small smile, he then nudged the shorter boy next to him.

"Wesley," he winked at Maribelle, "How are you doing love?"

"Quite well," she looked him up and down.

"Wes why must you be gross 24/7," the dark skinned boy rolled his eyes.

"You're right I'm sorry, are the weekends good for you then?" He said before laughing, Carter laughed, hitting his arm.

"And you?" Slate looked at the dark skinned boy, "What's your name?"

"Xavier," He replied before looking out the window.

"What are you trying to be with the tall, dark and mysterious look?" Slate scoffed. "Emphasis on the dark." Everyone in the booth looked shocked, then burst out laughing.

For the rest of the ride the boys joked around getting to know each other, Maribelle however had fallen asleep; her mind began to wonder if her mother had gotten home ok, then wondered how Andesite made the friends she made. Her mother said it was good that Andesite had made male friends, because apparently she had basically become a woman; Maribelle didn't want to become a woman, it seemed terrible except mother let her sister wear very nice gowns to the convention and boys always admired her. Would boys admire her? Did she want them to?-

"Twin," she was shaken awake by her brother. "We're here," He said, getting their luggage.

"Slate you coming?" Xavier looked back at him.

"I'll be there in a minute. I'm helping my sister," Slate replied, reaching for his trunk.

"I suppose her legs and arms don't work," Xavier smirked before leaving the booth with Carter and Wesley. Maribelle, feeling embarrassed, Grabbed her trunk and tried her best to carry it out.

"Let me help you", Slate grabbed her trunk from her. "You don't have to prove yourself you know, i mean you are a girl Xavier was just joking."

Maribelle said nothing as she followed Slate off the train, the twins caught up to Xavier, Carter, and Wesley; they were standing with other first years waiting in front of the train as a very tall wizard with a long, shaggy mane of hair and a wild, tangled beard walked to the front of the group. "Welcome to Hogwarts, I'm Rubeus Hagrid, game keeper and keeper of keys. I'll be taking you lot across the lake," he smiled at them before leading them to a lake where there were at least 100 boats, Hagrid helped the first use into the boats. Maribelle held Slate's hand as they made their way to a boat, Slate helped her in before getting in himself; when all the students were seated the boats then started to move across the water. Maribelle stared at the school as the boat got closer, it was huge it seemed bigger than her father had described.

"Merlin I'm going to get lost in there, I'm going to be late for every class," Slate sighed in distress.

"Maybe they'll give us a map," Maribelle shrugs, continuing to look at the school. "What house do you think you'll be in? Do you think we'll be in the same house?" She looked at her brother who just shrugged.

"Not sure, I'm between Gryffindor and Slytherin," He narrowed his eyes.

Maribelle raised an eyebrow, "Slytherin? Why Slytherin?"

"I don't know, I'm just trying to have an open mind, maybe try and join the dark side," Slate laughed to himself; Maribelle rolled her eyes before turning back to the view.

Before they knew it the boats had reached the other side of the lake, the first years started carefully getting off and getting back to land; the children followed Hagrid to the doors of the school.

Once they got to the entrance there was an older witch standing at the door, "Welcome first years, my name is Professor McGonagall; please follow me I'll take you where you'll be sorted." The students followed the professor into the school, Maribelle along with some of the others looked around in awe. She looked at Slate who was looking around, until Carter came up to them, "Mate what happened, why didn't you ride with us?"

"I thought it was only two to a boat," Slate let go of Maribelle's hand to look at Carter.

"Nope you could've had up to four people," He shrugged, before grabbing Slate's arm; "Come stand with us."

Slate looked at his sister, Maribelle gave him a small smile, "It's ok you can go," She watched her brother walk off with his new friends. McGonagall led the group into a large room filled with other students, some looking much older; the professor walked the first years down the aisle until they came to a stop in front of an old wizard and a table filled with other witches and wizards.

"Welcome girls and boys, I am the headmaster Albus Dumbledore, if you'll please stand in a line before coming up to be sorted; Professor McGonagall," Dumbledore gestured to her. McGonagall set a stool where the headmaster was and had an old looking wizard's hat in one hand, she then started calling students up one by one to be sorted; each one looking happy or upset with the decision the hat had made. Maribelle stared into space wondering where the hat would put her, was she even Ravenclaw material? Would it be okay if she wasn't? Maybe she was more of a Hufflepuff or a Gryffindor, that'd be okay right? If she were a-

"Maribelle Fyre," Professor McGonagall called. Her heart almost stopped, Maribelle slowly started to make her way towards the stool trying to ignore the stares she was getting. She sat down past everyone at the doors of the Great Hall afraid to meet anyone's eyes, however out of the corner of her eye she saw someone wave, it was Slate; she smiled waving back feeling a bit of relief.

"Hmm," she heard the hat as if it were a thought in her head. "Another Fyre, your bunch is a tricky one; you all used to have the same goals but always ended up in different houses, different places, and had different futures. You're especially tricky, your mind is everywhere; though you don't know it this is where you belong," the hat paused for a moment then shouted "Better be RAVENCLAW!"

Maribelle smiled as an applause came from the students sitting down, she looked over at Slate who smirked giving her a thumbs up; Professor McGonagall pointed her to the Ravenclaw table. When she walked over there the Ravenclaws shook her hand as she walked to an empty seat at the table, she sat down watching the other students get sorted.

"Slate Fyre," McGonagall called. Slate walked up there a smile on his face, he sat there for a few minutes when the hat shouted,

"GRYFFINDOR!" Everyone cheered as Slate ran over to his table, the other Gryffindors welcomed him as if they were seeing an old friend.

"Quiet down," Dumbledore smiled "There are still many that need to be sorted."

McGonagall called up more students, most of them were Gryffindors or Slytherin, very few were Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff.

"Kind of makes you feel special doesn't it," a brown skinned girl with box braids smiled at her, she looked like she was Andesite's age.

"What do you mean?" Maribelle asked.

"Knowing that very few make it to Ravenclaw yet here we are," the girl said proudly. " Adelaide Clark, 4th year" she held out her hand. Maribelle was hesitant at first, her mother had always talked about not wanting their family's germs to rub off on her.

"Maribelle um first year," Maribelle shook Adelaide's hand.

Adelaide smiled, "I know, I love your name."

"Thank you," Maribelle blushed before turning back to McGonagall.

"Carter Novak," she called

"GRYFFINDOR!" Carter went to sit next to Slate who gave him a high five.

"Xavier Majors"

"GRYFFINDOR"

Xavier flashed Maribelle a smirk before sitting down, she was very confused; if he was going to be this annoying all 7 years she didn't want to be this close to the Gryffindor table, "Adelaide," she looked at the teenage girl. "Do we have to sit with our houses?"

"I mean no, unless you can find somewhere else to sit," Adelaide said. "Something wrong? I know Gryffindors can be noisy."

Maribelle scanned the other tables, she didn't even know if she would fit in at Ravenclaw, "No it's nothing."

"Twin hey," she felt someone tap her on the shoulder, Maribelle turned to see Slate; "They can't keep us apart, they tried;" he smiled, making her laugh. They touched hands for a second making her feel safe as she always did around her brother.

"That your boyfriend?" Xavier snickered.

"No?" Maribelle said, growing slightly annoyed, "We're siblings."

"Doesn't seem like it," he looked her up and down, raising an eyebrow. Maribelle blushed, turning around.

"You are gross, we're twins," She heard Slate laugh.

"Oh so you guys must be really close," Carter laughed.

She heard footsteps walk past her, "Guess who's a Gryffindor?!" She heard Wesley's voice, the boys cheered. "What'd I miss?"

"Maribelle wants to shag her brother," she heard Xavier say.

She put her head down trying to ignore their laughter, "I love Hogwarts already."

After the feast the prefects led the first years to their houses, Maribelle and the rest of the new Ravenclaws stood outside the Great Hall, as two older pale students walked to the front of the group, one was a girl with red hair while the other was a boy with blonde hair.

"First and foremost we just want to congratulate you all for getting into Ravenclaw," the redheaded girl smiled at them. "My name is Hilda Avery and this is Simon Carrow, we're 6th years and we'll be your prefects; if any of you have questions don't hesitate to ask."

"Now if you'll follow us we'll show you to Ravenclaw tower," Simon said before beginning to lead the younger students to a room full moving stairs, "This is how you will go to and from Ravenclaw house everyday; be careful not to stand on a staircase too long they tend to move," Simon explained as they all walked up the stairs and waited for it to move to a floor. The stairs finally stopped, and the group followed the prefects off and walked through a doorway.

"Don't worry we're almost there," Hilda assured them as they made their way across a bridge, Maribelle looked out at the view; she could see the lake that they had crossed and even saw Gryffindor Tower. Being up there made her feel like a giant like she honestly thought it was amazing. Soon they made they're way to the other end of the bridge, then walked up a spiral of stairs before stopping in front of a large door with an eagle shaped door knocker, Simon went and knocked on the door with the knocker.

The eagle opened its beak and a voice then came from the door, "What came first? The Phoenix or the Fire?" Hilda was about to step forward but Simon stepped in front of her.

"Easy question, the phoenix," Simon answered with confidence.

"Incorrect," the eagle replied.

"Well this is embarrassing," Simon turned red, "Um Hilda?" He looked at his partner.

She rolled her eyes and stepped forward knocking on the door. "Where do vanished objects go?" The knocker asked.

"Into non-being or everything," Hilda said as the door opened, "Come on in everyone." The first years walked into a large circular room with arched windows, it had tons of chairs, tables and sofas; almost everything was an elegant blue color. "This is the common room, where you'll be studying, chatting etc," the first years were about to look around but Hilda caught their attention. "Now, now there will be plenty of time to look around tomorrow, professors are very serious about curfews; girls I'll show you your dormitories, and Simon if you forgot the boys dormitories are to the right," she smirked at him, he rolled his eyes before leading the boys away.

Hilda walked down a hall with doors on each side of the two walls, "Alright ladies these will be your dormitories from now till your last year, make sure you choose your dorm mates carefully; boys are not allowed in your dorms and you are not allowed in the boys dormitories, ok well there are five to a room, I will help you if you need me."

The girls then began to rush to a room, Maribelle was practically shoved by multiple girls; she stood looking for a room to enter, she wasn't one for shoving. It seemed the girls either knew each other already or had already become friends on the train, Maribelle picked up her trunks before taking a deep breath, she then speed walked into a room almost falling into the room.

"Merlin's beard are you alright?" She heard a voice, Maribelle turned to see a brown skinned girl with tight curls sitting on one of the beds while a pale skinned girl with brown hair sat on the bed next to her.

Maribelle stood up straight, "Um yes sorry-"

"Sorry yourself, you look like you came in from..from- a crazy place," the brown skinned girl shook her head as she folded the piles of clothes on her bed.

Maribelle cleared her throat before making her way to an empty bed, "I'm Maribelle, Maribelle Fyre;" she placed her trunk on the bed opening it.

"I'm Tabitha Flint," the pale girl smiled.

"I'm Elise O'dair," the brown skinned girl continued to separate clothes and put them in drawers.

"Pleasure to meet you both," Maribelle smiled, taking out a white nightgown, the door then slammed open.

The three girls looked to see a light skinned girl with faux locs standing in the doorway, "Please tell me there's less than five in here," she tried to catch her breath.

"I believe three is less than five," Elise put the last of her clothes away.

"Thank Merlin," the girl rushed to the empty bed across the room. After putting her trunk down she examined the bed and the curtain hanging from the bed frame, "I really don't think blue is my color;" she sneered at the curtains.

"And who do you think you are Miss picky pants?" Tabitha looked the girl up and down.

"Celeste Lavoie," the girl put her locs in a ponytail, she turned to Maribelle; "You're very pretty."

Maribelle blushed, smiling, "Thank you". The door opened again.

"Another one?" Elise sighed, sounding annoyed.

Hilda walked in with a dark skinned girl with short hair pulled into a ponytail, "Look there's only four in here, girls meet Nathalia Welsh; alright I'll be on my way have a great first year," She smiled before leaving.

"Hello," Nathalia waved, making her way to the last bed. "Couldn't find a single room most of them were full-"

"I don't want to hear your life story, I'm going to sleep," Elise turned her lamp off before pulling the covers over her head.

"Good night I guess?" Celeste raised an eyebrow before putting a bonnet on, "She's right though we should turn in, um we'll get to know you in the morning Nathalia how's that sound?" She looked at Nathalia who was just very confused.

"Ok?" She responded before putting her things away.

"Would you like some help?" Maribelle asked.

"No thank you," Nathalia smiled before going back to her clothes.

Maribelle laid down in the bed slowly drifting to sleep, She wondered how Slate was getting along with everyone; and if he was happy with his new friends. He seemed happy and Maribelle tried to be happy for him, but it was hard; she just felt so alone, they were in the same school but it felt like he was so far away. Maribelle felt as if she was gonna cry, she tried to sleep but being in a room full of strangers wasn't helping, she wanted this night to be over.
