As soon as the doors closed Scotty's smile vanished, his eyes squinted closed tightly.

Not to mention the string of Gaelic swear words which poured silently from his mouth.

"Don't start this again, I've got too much to do." Scotty grumbled quietly as he placed a hand on his ankle.

The truth was, Scotty had injured himself when he had taken his 'wee' tumble, down on the planet below.

The Scotsman had landed on his ankle extremely awkwardly and almost instantly it had begun to hurt.

It wasn't just the normal pain you got when you twisted your ankle, this was something else.

And the Engineer knew this.

But there was no way Scotty was going to admit that, he just knew that McCoy and Kirk would get too much of a laugh out of it.

Besides, there was too much work to do all over the ship which Scotty was responsible for completing.

Also every section of the ship had something that needed either replacing or fixing, or on the odd occasion both.

Scotty believed he didn't have time to be sick or injured, so he just ignored it.

Deep in the back of his mind Scotty knew doing this was wrong and very stupid, but he just pushed that thought aside.

"So much to do, the ship can't be without her CEO. I'm meant to keep this silver lady together and that's what I plan on doing."

Slowly getting up from his desk, Scotty felt the pain in his ankle intensify almost instantly.

Swearing in his head, Scotty limped his way down to Engineering. Trying his best to hide his ever growing pain from the crew.

On the odd occasion, other Officers did look over at the CEO with concerned looks, but a glare from Scotty made them look away.

Scotty knew that no one would question him about his current limp, that was of course until he got in to Engineering itself.

Waiting for the Scotsman was Keenser, who was stood on top of a crate, tapping his foot impatiently. "Late." He called.

"Aye I know I am, sorry wee man got caught up in me paper work as normal." Scotty was trying to put on a smile.

However, Keenser could see right through that. "Hurt?" The Alien questioned sadly, as he hopped down off his perch.

"Of course the lad would tell instantly." Scotty grumbled to himself, but he still put on his little act.

"I'm fine laddie, come on we've got work to do." Scotty patted his long time friend on the shoulder before limping away.

Keenser was still not convinced, but he couldn't really argue with Scotty, the man was his Commanding Officer after all.

But there was one thing the little Engineer could do, that was keep an eye on the stubborn Scotsman just to make sure.
