Pretty sure there will be edits on this. It's ten chapters and I'm a terrible beta. - The plot won't change though, and I'll try to put up a new chapter before I do it.

The principals of the Sunnydale Slayers and the Sunnydale Blood Suckers eyed each other warily. The school board's decision to combine their schools would have been better received had they waited until summer break. They would have had time to worry about locker space, scheduling of extracurricular activities, and any conflicts that might arise among their students. As it was, the council had voted it in and left it up to the principals to see things ran smoothly.

Snyder, the Slayer's principal, cleared his throat. "I guess we could appoint a few seniors to be school representatives. Maybe put them in charge of any problems arising from the merger. It should prove useful to them..." he trailed off for a moment. "In fact, I think I know of just the three students that should meet with your fine group of kids."

Flutie nodded before raising an eyebrow. "Fine group of kids? I think I know of some delinquents that could benefit from the responsibility."

Snyder instantly smiled and held out his hand. "I think we're going to get along just fine. My delinquents will meet with your delinquents and it will be a valuable experience for all of them."

Buffy turned to Riley with disbelief. She'd known about the possibility but hadn't taken it seriously. "You mean they're going to close our school when we're in the middle of our senior year?"

"That's what Snyder said. Officially it has to do with saving money, but there's a rumor going around that the mayors, both Drac *and* Wilkins are trying to use us to get an environmental dome."

The seventeen year old frowned before rolling her eyes. She couldn't care less about the dome that would allow vampires to walk in the sun. What she cared about was her senior year. "Too bad they didn't merge the Blood Suckers and Initiatives." She shifted out of the way of the janitor. "That would have been something I could have gotten behind."

Riley nodded as they walked into the senior lounge. "That would have been good," he murmured before dropping his books onto the scarred coffee table and turning to her with a sigh. "Snyder's volunteered you, me, and Xander to meet with a group of Blood Suckers."

She turned to him incredulously. "Why?"

"Maybe because he thinks we egged his car a couple of weeks ago."

"We didn't do it."

"I know, but we got detention for it," he muttered.

Angel put his feet on the table and made himself comfortable. "The Slayers are coming to *our* school?" he repeated.

"Yeah. We're going to school at night and they're going to use it during the day." Spike put out his cigarette in the ashtray and shrugged. "It sucks, but some of the higher-ups think it might help us get the dome."

Cordelia snorted and rolled her eyes. "Having happy meals share our school won't help us get the dome."

Spike lifted an eyebrow before turning to look at her. "It gets better. They've scheduled a meeting between representatives from our school and the Slayers to hash out any 'problems' we have, and Flutie's volunteered the three of us to be Blood Sucker representatives."

"Gee," Angel deadpanned, "Flutie picked us? I feel so honored."

"Speak for yourself," Cordy disagreed as she shot him an annoyed look before giving a shake of her head. "You know the Freaks will have a field day with this don't you?"

"Probably," Spike agreed grimly as he thought of the other school. "Too bad they're not the ones getting saddled with the humans."

Silence fell before the bell broke it, and they reluctantly got to their feet before heading for their classes.

Friday Night - 2 days later

Cordy opened the cooler and took out three bottles of blood to pass around to two of her oldest friends as they waited in the gym.

"Is it necessary to drink blood in front of them?" Flutie asked as he eyed the clear bottles that left no doubt as to what was in them.

Cordy shrugged. "We don't know how long this will take, and I thought it would be nice if we had refreshments."

Spike took a long swig and grinned at Cordy. "I like the way you think pet. Is there more?"

"Sure."

Flutie walked over and grabbed Angel's bottle. "It's straight blood, isn't it? Because if you kids think I'll let you get by with drinking alcohol at this meeting, you're sadly mistaken."

Angel smirked as Cordy handed him another bottle before she turned back to her principal. "We wouldn't think of trying to get anything by you, Mr. Flutie," she answered scathingly.

"You'd better not." The principal set the bottle down and looked up at the sound of the gym doors being pushed open. He smiled at the humans, even as the blonde in the lead stopped to stare at the bottles of blood his students were drinking.

"What?" Xander asked when he bumped into Buffy. She stumbled a few steps forward before he saw what she was looking at. "Gross," he muttered.

"What's the problem Summers?" Snyder glanced at the vampires before glaring at her.

"There's no problem," she mumbled as she walked over to sit on the bleachers before pulling hamburgers out of a paper bag and handing them to Xander and Riley.

Cordy choked on her blood. "They're going to eat dead animals in front of us?" She glared at Flutie who shrugged and moved to stand beside Snyder. Cordy frowned and angrily slammed the top of her cooler down.

Angel's gaze was riveted on the blonde as he watched the guys move to sit on either side of her. She took a bite of her burger and his nose wrinkled with disgust, but he didn't turn away.

"Well, now that we've all been fed maybe we can get on with the meeting?" Snyder glared at his students before turning to look pointedly at the young vampires.

"Sure," Buffy spoke up coolly. "Where should we start?"

Her principal cast her a sharp look. "Both schools will have rallies next week to discuss the integration and how it will work. Right now we're simply trying to get an idea of any complaints the students might have. Are there any complaints Ms. Summers?"

"Yes," Cordy broke in triumphantly as she looked at Flutie. "We think sharing our school with humans will cause it to attract bugs and vermin."

"Please explain that Ms. Chase," Flutie asked with annoyance as he turned a piercing stare on her.

"They eat solid food, pieces get left behind, and we get bugs and vermin."

"While it's true the lunchroom is in the process of being modified, I highly doubt we'll have bugs and rats at the school Cordelia. Humans are more than capable of cleaning up after themselves."

Buffy scoffed as she picked up her burger and took a bite before looking over the Blood Suckers with narrowed eyes. A surprisingly good looking brunette was watching her, and she looked back before giving a soft snort. "Chupacabra," she murmured with a roll of her eyes before watching as a slow smirk curled his lips. A moment later, she realized all of the vampires were looking at her.

Flutie cleared his throat and shot a hard look at his students before turning back to the humans. "Were there any other concerns?"

Riley held up his hand and centered his attention on Snyder. "Some of the sports teams don't like the sun screen over the field."

"The screens around the school are used to keep late evening and early morning sunlight from harming the students Mr. Finn. I hardly think they will impact our games." Snyder continued to look at him before looking over all of the teenagers. "Now if we've gotten your concerns out of the way, I think it's time to discuss the rules."

"Rules?" Spike asked.

"Rules," Flutie stated flatly. "You know what the word means don't you Williams?"

Spike scowled, and Snyder turned back to his students. "As school representatives, it'll be up to you to solve any conflicts the students might have." Silence fell as he watched the teenagers look at each other unhappily. "Now that you seem to understand more about what's going on, let's begin with the main goal. There will be no malicious competition between Slayers and Blood Suckers."

"Define malicious," Xander shot back.

"I will attempt to make it simple enough so everyone here can understand," his principal stated coolly. "There will be no violence in the name of school spirit, or any misled vampire/ human aggressions... In fact, I'll say that any school rivalry between you will result in detention."

Buffy dropped her hamburger wrapper into the bag before settling back against the bleachers. "What about our school logos," she asked with a hint of sarcasm, "do we have to leave them off the walls too?"

Snyder turned toward Flutie. "Unless you have some objection, I don't see the harm in putting up a couple of logos for our school."

"Your school sign, trophy case, and a few logos will be fine Ms. Summers," Flutie agreed before turning to his students. "Any act of violence against a human will not be tolerated. You're naturally stronger than they are and that needs to be taken into consideration when dealing with them."

Cordy put her empty bottle back into the cooler before looking at her principal. "There won't be any dealing with them. We won't even see them at school."

"Ms. Chase," Flutie started disapprovingly, "this is the Slayer's new school. I believe integration between you would be beneficial to all concerned... And in that spirit, they will be allowed and encouraged to attend our dances and sporting events if they are so inclined."

"Great." Cordelia glanced at Spike and Angel. "We're going to be welcomed to *their* events at *our* school. This is way more sharing than I want to do."

"Me too," Buffy agreed. "I suggest we keep school events separate and dissolve our group."

"That was... cute Ms. Summers. If you're done wasting our time, may we continue?"

"No. You said we were speaking for our school and as far as I know joint events weren't part of the deal."

Flutie motioned to Buffy. "Is this the girl you told me about?"

"Yes." Snyder looked at the blonde with irritation. "She's the only student I've had in five years that's failing physical education."

"Hey! That's not fair." Buffy noticed the smirks the Blood Suckers were giving her before turning back to her principal. "I can't help it if it's my first class of the day and my alarm clock doesn't work."

"I see. So you're telling me no matter what your first class was you'd be failing it?"

She didn't reply. She hated phys ed but did show up for it about half the time. It was so like Snyder to throw it in her face.

"I understand you're also not doing well in science," Flutie spoke up.

"That explosion wasn't my fault. I was just mixing two chemicals that..."

"That the science teacher told you not to," Snyder finished. "If you'd been paying attention, you would have known that." A moment later, he turned to Flutie. "Do we still have a deal?"

The taller man nodded. "We can give it a try." He turned to look at his students. "I think McCormick's first two classes are science and phys ed so he could make the transition easier."

"What?" Angel and Buffy asked at the same time.

Snyder turned to her with a frown. "Ms. Summers, I've informed Mr. Flutie about your less than exemplary achievements and he's generously offered to let you take phys ed with his students at a time of day when your alarm clock shouldn't be a problem. He's also allowing you a chance to better your knowledge of science, and I might add, at some risk to his students, by allowing you to sit in on their first period science class. I realize this will involve two science courses for you, but I feel it's necessary for your grades to improve."

Buffy stared at him. "You..." she broke off and shot an uneasy glance at the three teens sitting a few feet away. The bleached blonde went into game face, and she turned back to Snyder. "I'll get a new alarm clock. Be on time every day."

"I've already discussed this matter with your mother, and she's agreed it's the best thing to do." He glanced at Flutie. "Blood Sucker classes run from Sunday night until Thursday night, and I believe school starts promptly at eight pm."

Flutie nodded, and Snyder turned back to her. "Of course you won't be expected to come in for double gym classes, which the Blood Suckers attend five days a week. Your first Slayer class will begin at 9 am with Algebra."

"You can't make her do that," Xander broke in before motioning at the Blood Suckers. "They could hurt her."

"I seriously doubt she'll be in danger, Mr. Harris. If I were to be worried, it would be for the safety of her science class, which has not yet come to the section in their textbooks on dissection."

A silence fell, and Buffy frowned before slumping against the bleachers.

"There's one more thing," Flutie spoke up, "the locker situation. There aren't enough of them." He turned toward his students. "We're going to request all articles be removed from your gym lockers so they can be reassigned to the Slayers."

"You can't do that," Cordy protested. "How do you expect us to put all of our stuff into one locker?"

Buffy rolled her eyes. "How do you expect us to go through the day without *any* lockers?"

"We shouldn't have to give you our lockers, our school, or let you sit in on our classes. In short, you shouldn't be here."

"And you think we want to share your school?" Buffy asked incredulously before her eyes narrowed as she noticed the brunette's outfit. Cordelia was clearly into following the latest fashions, but to Buffy's eye, her tasteful outfit was ruined by the red lace-up boots she was wearing. "You can't even color coordinate. You'd have to be blind to put those boots with that outfit."

"My fashion sense is impeccable!" Cordelia growled.

"For what?" Buffy almost snapped. "Someone that's blind?"

"Ms. Summers, will you kindly control your need to talk about fashion?" Snyder asked with a glower.

"I didn't start it."

"Buffy," Riley warned quietly before a silence fell and Snyder turned to Flutie with a look of long suffering.

"I must apologize for Ms. Summers's behavior. Her sense of fashion aside, I'm certain your classes will be beneficial to her."

"I feel I must apologize for Ms. Chase's behavior as well. Her attitude is hardly geared toward a peaceful transition."

"You'll still accept her into your classes won't you?" Snyder asked with a hint of anxiety.

"Of course. I'm sure she'll get along with *most* of our student body." Flutie shot his students a hard look before walking over to Buffy. "We're more than pleased to have you in our classes, Ms. Summers." He motioned toward the dark haired teenager sitting a few feet away. "This is Angel. I'm sure he won't mind looking out for you over the next few weeks."

Spike choked on a laugh, and Xander and Riley turned to him.

"Spike, right?" Riley asked.

"Right. And you're the Slayer's quarterback, Finn isn't it?" Riley nodded, and Spike looked at Xander. "I have to admit I don't know who you are though."

"Xander Harris," he answered. "And I'm more of a fan of the Freaky Fang's quarterback, Henry Ness."

"Don't suppose you mean Heinrich Nest?" Spike asked.

Riley rolled his eyes before glancing at Xander. "Smooth," he muttered.

Angel looked at them with narrowed eyes before walking over to offer his hand to Buffy. "And you're Buffy right?"

She met his eyes challengingly as they shook hands. "I'm surprised you got that out of all the *Summers* comments."

"I noticed it," he answered before he went back to his side of the bleachers.

A week later, Friday night:

"Please tell me this isn't happening." Xander closed his eyes before looking back at the 'fumigation notice' taped to the door. "We go to Blood Sucker High next week, we've got tons of homework, and the Bronze is closed." He scowled and rubbed at the back of his neck. "Sadly, this seems normal for my life."

"It's just more of the 'screw you' we've been getting all year," Buffy answered before a silence fell.

"We could egg Snyder's car," Xander joked when the silence drug on.

"Not me," Oz disagreed. "Devin said he put security cameras around his house." Another silence fell as they took that in.

"Good to know." Xander glanced over the deserted parking lot with a sigh. It wasn't like there were a lot of things to do in Sunnydale.

"We could go to the Blood Well," Willow spoke up quietly as she squeezed Oz's hand. "I'm pretty sure they serve humans."

"That's Blood Sucker territory isn't it?" Riley asked.

Willow nodded, and Xander rubbed at the back of his neck before looking at Buffy. "Your call Buff," the brunette stated without enthusiasm.

Buffy frowned as they all looked at her before rolling her eyes. There were four teenage hangouts in Sunnydale, and there were four schools... each claiming their own turf. Technically the Blood Suckers and Slayers weren't enemies, but they weren't friends either. In fact, the two schools tended to ignore each other. Going to the Blood Well would probably be fine... except for the gross factor. Making up her mind, she took a last look at the fumigation notice taped to the door of the Bronze before sighing and giving a shake of her head. "I guess it beats going home... and the Suckers have to be better company than the Initiatives right?" she asked uncertainly.

"Right," Oz deadpanned.

"Then let's give it a shot," she answered before starting to walk toward the bar that was a couple of blocks away.

"Angel," Spike bumped his friend's shoulder, "you'll never believe who just walked in."

The brunette turned to see the five humans. "I wonder what they want?"

"Don't know, but maybe you should find out since you're the one taking care of her."

Angel shot him a look and shook his head. "I don't have to watch out for her until tomorrow night. Right now any human in here is entertainment."

"Well, this was a fun idea," Xander murmured as he looked around the vampire crowded bar. "Why don't we just hang 'lunch' signs around our necks?"

Buffy waited until the bartender walked over. "Five cokes... in cans," she ordered uneasily and did her best to ignore his knowing look as they all dug money out of their pockets to pay for them.

"The music's good," Willow volunteered as she glanced at the band.

"Yeah, it is," Buffy agreed as she looked over the crowded dance floor and full tables.

"We always have a full house when The Bleeding Hearts play." The bartender set five cokes on the bar and started to give everyone their change.

"Snappy name," Riley muttered, and the older man's smile grew wider as he watched them head toward the only table not taken.

"Don't look now, but our vampire friends are here from school." Xander motioned with his head off to their right, and the other four turned to look.

Spike held up a glass of blood in salute before taking a drink and smirking. Angel just leaned back and watched with amusement.

"At least the bitch... 'what's her name' isn't here." Buffy turned back toward the empty table with a frown.

"Cordelia," Riley supplied as they sat down before he glanced up and tensed. "We're going to have company," he hissed before Buffy and Willow jumped as cool hands pressed into their shoulders.

"Do you mind?" Buffy brushed the hand off before turning to look at the vamp behind her. He was about her age... and looked like a nerd.

"My name's Jonathan. Would either of you ladies like to dance?"

"I don't," Willow's voice squeaked, and Oz reached out to take her hand.

"And you?" He looked at Buffy.

"She's with me," Riley stated.

Jonathan scowled before pulling a chair over to their table and looking at Buffy. "You know I'm a vampire right?" he asked before adding enticingly, "A blood sucker."

They all looked at him curiously. "We sort of guessed that," Xander answered as he studied the geek with a frown.

Jonathan didn't take his eyes off the blonde. "Humans like vampires."

Riley snorted. "About as much as we like rabid animals."

Spike smirked and Angel grinned as they settled back to continue listening to the conversation.

"Buff..." Ethan murmured with surprise as he and Ripper abruptly stopped their trek to the game room. "What are you guys doing here?"

"The Bronze is closed," she answered as she gave him a dark look. "Now what's your excuse?"

"We're just... making new friends," Ripper answered with a faint smile before he looked pointedly at Jonathan and then back at her. "Just like you are."

Jonathan looked up from where he was seated at the table. "Aren't you the guys that said she was into kinky sex?"

Buffy's head jerked up before she got to her feet with a scowl and started toward the two Initiatives that had been thorns in her side for years. She was almost over to them when a cool hand caught her arm, and she quickly pulled away before turning to look at Jonathan. "I know what you want," he told her in a low voice, "and I'm available."

She stared at him as Ethan and Ripper broke down in laughter. A moment later, Ripper straightened. "Um... we... uh we're just going to start a game of pool... so if you'll excuse us?" He grabbed Ethan's arm and pulled him into a back room.

"Maybe we should just go," Riley spoke up quietly as he got to his feet and glanced over the curious looks they were getting before looking back at her pointedly. "This is the Blood Sucker hangout Buff, and you're going to have to go to school with them. Let's not make it worse than it is."

"I've told her I can do everything she wants." Jonathan broke in with exasperation. "I'm pretty sure she doesn't want to leave."

"Yeah, I do." She turned to look at her friends. "Give me a few minutes, and *stay here*," she ordered before heading for the door Ethan and Ripper had disappeared through.

She was pleasantly surprised when she noticed the room was empty except for the two guys she was looking for, and she turned her attention to them after she'd entered. "Hey Buff," Ethan greeted with a wide smile. "Want to play a game?"

"Wouldn't dream of it," she answered as she started toward them, and watched as they started toward her. "I just came back to let you know everyone liked the pictures you guys put up on your facebook pages a couple of weeks ago."

They stopped and looked at her suspiciously. "So you know about that?" Ripper asked.

"Oh yeah. I mean, you both looked so... dorky, it was almost cute."

Ethan nodded to acknowledge the prank had caused them more embarrassment than they would have liked. "I suppose it was your geeky friend that hacked our accounts, Buff?"

"They looked like old yearbook pictures to me," Buffy answered. "Wherever would we have gotten a hold of them?" She shot them a smirk before turning to leave and stopped when Ethan grabbed her arm.

"You know Buff... there's something about you going to school with vampires that just makes the rest of my senior year perfect," Ethan told her as he stepped closer.

"Yeah," Ripper murmured as he moved up behind her and slid an arm around her waist. "Somehow the thought of you surrounded by Blood Suckers just makes me all tingly."

"All tingly huh?" she asked with a scowl. "Well, maybe I should take care of that for you."

"Now you're talking," Ripper answered as he dropped his head down to hers and pulled her tighter against him. "Ethan and I have always liked you, Buff."

"Really?" she asked as she looked up at Ethan who was standing in front of her now, his hands biting into her hips. He grinned, and she gave an innocent smile before kneeing him and spinning to face Ripper, who abruptly released her and backed away. "Just for future reference," she growled as she stared threateningly at Rupert Giles before turning back to Ethan Rayne, "I don't like you." A moment later, she started out of the game room before slowing uncertainly and then stopping when she saw the two vampires leaning on either side of the door.

"Nice shot," Angel murmured before pushing away from the wall and starting toward a pool table.

Buffy only glanced at him before looking back at the bleached blonde that was still standing near the door. A moment later, she started forward again, and Spike watched with interest. "You know you can play a game with Angel and I don't you?" he asked silkily as he watched her stop when she was about five feet away from him... and the door leading out of the room. "We'll even let you take the first shot and break our balls," he stated with a wicked grin before motioning to the pool table Angel was setting up.

"Maybe later," she answered as she carefully shifted around him and back into the main part of the bar.

Angel glanced at Spike with a smile as the bleached blonde walked over to the table. "So... do you want to break our balls or do you want me to?" he asked.

Spike smirked as he went over to pick out a pool cue. "I want to play pool mate... not sure what you're talking about."

Angel rolled his eyes before glancing over to where Ethan had dropped onto the floor with Ripper crouched beside him. He shook his head and turned his attention back to the game.

There were whispers and soft laughter when Buffy walked into the science room at 3 till 8 on Sunday night, and she did her best to ignore them as she looked over the tables before making her way to the only available seat. The blonde girl already sitting at the table glared at her viciously, and Buffy uneasily pushed her chair off to the side to leave more room between them before sitting down.

"Ahh... Ms. Summers," Flutie greeted with a pleasant smile as he walked into the room and over to where she was sitting. The laughter in the room increased. "So good to have you here on your first day. I trust everything's going well?"

She nodded and watched as he looked shrewdly at the scowling girl beside her before looking over her head toward the back of the room. "Angel," Flutie called. "I'm sure Mr. Rollens wouldn't mind if you volunteered to be Ms. Summer's science partner." Angel looked at him, and Flutie motioned toward the honey blonde beside Buffy. "You're welcome to take this seat." He turned his attention to Harmony. "And you're welcome to take his," he added as he looked at her with disapproval.

Angel glanced at the teacher as he slowly got to his feet before picking up his books and exchanging seats with Harmony.

"Now that everyone's settled in I'd like to officially welcome Buffy to our classes," he stated as he looked threateningly over the other students before looking back at her. "And if you need anything, Ms. Summers, just let Angel know and I'm sure he'll be more than happy to help you out." He smiled at her before shooting a warning look at the brunette next to her. "Right?"

"Right," Angel agreed as a few more snickers ran through the room.

The bell rang, and Angel waited for her to pick up her book before heading out of the classroom. "You remember where the gym's at don't you?"

"Of course I remember where it's at." She shot him an irritated look. All of the Slayer high school students had toured the school last week, found their lockers, got an idea of where the rooms were at. "As a matter of fact my locker's in the..." she trailed off and frowned as her face started to turn red.

Angel raised an eyebrow. "What?" A sudden mischievous look crossed his face as he noticed her embarrassment.

"Umm... my locker's in the... guys changing room."

Angel smiled. This had potential. "And your gym clothes are..."

"In the guy's locker room." She went silent for a moment before adding, "They're not going to let the gym classes change until after the bell rings so we can pick up our books." She looked up hopefully. "Is that how you do it?"

He shook his head. "We pretty much change when we get to the gym."

"Oh."

He shoved the doors open and strolled into the gym. "Looks like everyone's changing. Do you want me to get your clothes?"

"Locker 333. The combination's 8-12-22"

Angel started to walk toward the changing rooms before turning back to look behind her with a smile and giving a shake of his head. "Be nice Spike."

Buffy whirled around to see the bleached blonde standing behind her in game face. "What's the matter luv? Did I scare you?"

"No. Of course not. I'm used to seeing deformed... things... come up behind me."

Spike smiled and let his game face melt away. "Before we get done with you, you will be luv."

Angel's smile widened before he turned to follow Spike into the changing room. "I'll be right back."

"Well look who showed up." Cordy walked out of the girl's locker room with a group of girls around her. "What was your name again? Was it Buggy or something?"

Buffy gritted her teeth. "Buffy."

"Like I was saying, *Buggy* is failing phys ed, so as a punishment to *us* we have to have her in *our* class."

She was about to comment when Angel walked out with her gym bag and handed it to her. "Um... thanks."

"No problem." He left to change, and Buffy went in the opposite direction.

She walked out of the locker room a couple of minutes later and grinned at the reaction her shirt was getting. It was a slayer's school shirt that proudly showed a stake being shoved through a heart on the front and 'Slayer' in bright red letters on the back. She stopped smiling when she noticed Snyder and Flutie were having a conversation just outside of the gym doors.

"Twenty-five laps," the coach called, and Buffy looked up with surprise before slowly starting toward the gym floor. "Summers, you do ten."

She nodded and watched as Snyder glared at her through the glass on the door before leaving.

Angel was on his fifth lap when he noticed the person he was trying not to trip over was small, blonde, and had the fastest heartbeat in the gym. He grinned. She was in pretty good shape for someone flunking the class, and for a moment he wished he could take the time to enjoy the view, but she was going too slow for that. He carefully moved around her and sped up. It would be fun to see how many times he could out-lap her.

Buffy finished her 10 laps and sat on the bleachers before watching the vampires run their 25 in just about the same time it had taken her to do 10.

One of the gym teachers walked over and smiled. "Welcome to the class, Ms. Summers. We're playing baseball and you might want to grab a coat if you brought one since we play outside."

"Outside... but it's got to be about 50 degrees out there."

"You should have been warned. It doesn't bother our students, but if you want to change back into your regular clothes you can."

She nodded and walked back to change into her jeans before sliding into her coat.

Angel and Spike were picked for team captains, and Angel picked around her on purpose. He wanted to play against her, not with her.

"I'll take the human," Spike stated.

"Her name's Buffy. Use it." The coach looked at Angel. "Take the field."

They were tied with about ten minutes left of class when Buffy got up to take her turn batting. "Try to hit the ball this time blondie. It's what the game's about." Spike leaned back on the bench and looked at her challengingly.

Buffy looked back with a scowl. She knew how to play baseball... although she was off her game tonight, but taking a class with *vampires* could do that to you. She leaned down to lock eyes with the guy that had been taunting her for the last 40 minutes. "I bet I can hit balls better than you."

"Ms. Summers?" Coach Sullivan was looking at her with a frown. "Anytime you're ready."

She moved away from Spike and walked up to the plate. Angel raised an eyebrow and looked at Spike questioningly before pitching the ball to Buffy. She let the first two go by without even trying to hit them. On the third, she determinedly slammed the ball into the fence.

"Home run," the coach called as the class watched her jog around the bases.

"Unbelievable chit," Spike ranted as he was changing in the locker room. "She said she could hit balls better than me..."

"Well, you didn't hit a home run tonight." Angel pulled on his jeans. "So technically..." he broke off with a large grin as Spike snarled and shook his head.

"Hit balls..." the bleached blonde snorted. "I'm not sure she wasn't threatening me."

Angel smirked as he pulled his shirt over his head. "I think you two would make a cute couple. Have you thought about going steady with a human?" A low growl answered him, and he looked at his friend's game face with amusement. He'd never given humans much thought one way or the other, but having this one in class might be fun.
