6: solo finish

`Scan failed`
: Jasmine staired in shock at the message that had popped up when she had tried to see what elemental type this pirate was. Logically she suspected this boss was a water type, but she had wanted to be sure. Only to see this.
"What does that mean?"
Jasmine had no time to ponder the mystery, because the pirate lunged at her with the sword in his hand.
Squeaking in surprise, Jasmine jumped back out of his reach. Nearly bumping her head on the platform above her. To Jasmine's surprise the pirate stumbled as he swung his sword.
"That means he's not a light elemental then" she thought. "Although that begs the question of why he is trying to use a sword if it is not his primary weapon type."
Jasmine dodged to 1 side as the pirate swung his sword at her again.
"I wish I knew his elemental type" she thought. "Oh well, I'll just have to use another method to take him down."
Dodging another sword swing, Jasmine jumped up to a platform above the pirate.
"You think you can escape my wrath! Feel my power" he yelled lashing out with his sword, and sending a wave of water at Jasmine.
"Well, I got my answer" Jasmine thought as she jumped from platform to platform dodging the water. "Now I just need to get close enough to hit this guy."
This continued for a few minutes. Jasmine jumping along the platforms 1 level above the pirate. Who would send waves of water after her.
Fortunately, or unfortunately all things weather good or bad must come to an end, and this time was no different. As Jasmine jumped from 1 of the platforms, she hit her head on the platform above her. Sending her tumbling back down toward the pirate. He wasn't expecting this, and so he had sent his latest wave of water at where he expected her to land. Instead, she landed only less then 2 feet from him with her arms windmilling in an effort to keep her balance.
"Bloody hell" she breathed as her right fist crashed into the pirate's sword arm. Along with sending his sword flying, she also heard a snap as his arm was bent at an unnatural angle. She blinked as she realized she had broken his arm.
`45 damage.
Right pirate's right arm is broken.
All attacks with this arm have a 50 percent penalty to hit. `
"YOU BITCH" he screamed. For the first time losing his composure.
For her part Jasmine was stunned. She hadn't realized her strength was enough to break bones, and or limbs. Up to this point all her enemies had either died from the hit, or they had just shrugged it off. Jasmine made a note to herself to be careful with her strength in the future.
While Jasmine stood stunned the pirate had grabbed an axe from his belt, and with a mighty swing slammed it into Jasmine's back.
`Jasmine takes 15 points of damage. `
Jasmine pitched forward under the power of the strike. Pain like nothing she felt before lanced throughout her body. For just a moment she wondered why this attack hurt more than the beatings she had received from her relatives, but she dismisses the thought as she saw the pirate preparing another swing.
Jasmine waited for just the right moment to duck under the swing of the pirate's axe so she could counter with her own devastating punch. however, the pirate evidently anticipated her action. for as Jasmine went to deliver a punch to his arm, the pirate brought his other hand up holding a small hammer, and smacked Jasmine in the stomach.
Surprise attack.
`Jasmine takes 20 points of damage.
Jasmine is at less than 30 percent health. `
Jasmine stumbled back from the force of the hit. Noticing her hp had dropped to 10.
"I can't fail here" she thought. I need to clear these dungeons to learn how to defeat Voldemort".
As Jasmine readied herself for another charge, she felt something stir inside her.
"You already know what to do".
"Don't let this fake push you around."
"You control the element with the greatest strength".
"Now unleash that witch only the air can block".
As though in a daze Jasmine clutched her right hand into a fist, and cocked it back. As she stood there her fist started to glow. Turning toward the pirate she prepared to charge.
"You think I'll let you punch me? Then I'll show you just what happens to a knotty seadog".
Still in a daze Jasmine walked toward the pirate, who pulled back his axe in preparation for smashing Jasmine's skull. However, when Jasmine reached a point 2 feet from the pirate, she stopped walking and looked up.
Fearing that someone else had come to bother him, the pirate looked up as well, but there was no one above them.
He soon learned why you should always keep an eye on your opponent, as Jasmine unleashed an attack he had never seen before.
"SKY ... UPPERCUT" she yelled smashing her fist into the pirate's chest.
The force from the punch launched the pirate strait upward. Nearly hitting the ceiling. Before falling back to the ground at nearly terminal velocity. Needless to say, the pirate smacked into the ground with enough force to break every bone, and take enough damage to Faid out of existence.
`Pirate takes 300 damage.
Boss defeated.
Alert next level possible`
"Level? I hope there is some information in the notebook Pre left me about this topic."
Shrugging Jasmine dismiss the notifications about the ending of the boss fight, and jumped down through the open trapdoor that had just appeared.

Meanwhile back in Hogwarts Jasmine's battle with the pirate had been broadcast to all 4 common rooms thanks to Minerva McGonagall. It had surprised many that Jasmine was taking on someone who could use an axe even better than Hagrid, and many girls wished to join her on her next quest.
In the Slytherin common room Drako Malfoy had sat staring at the battle in shock. He had always believed that Jasmine was below him in every way possible to this point. However now he saw her not only take a hit like a true champion, but return those hits with vengeance. Drako knew he had to tell his father about this at once, and he just hoped Jasmine wouldn't take her frustration out on him. Just because she hadn't done it to this point didn't mean she wouldn't do it later.
In another part of the room a pair of sisters watched in stupefaction. One had long platinum blond hair. The others were brown, and cut short.
"Have you ever seen anything like this before Daphnie?"
Daphnie Greengrass shook her head. "No, I haven't Astoria" she replied, examining her younger sister.
"I wish I could join her on whatever quest she's trying to complete" Astoria sighed.
Daphnie looked up from examining her sister. "I think you should dream about that in bed Tory."
Tory scowled, but obediently rose to her feet. "Will you let me know how this battle ends Daphnie?"
Daphnie was about to reply when they all heard, "SKY ... UPERCUT!".
Looking over Daphnie's eyes widened in surprise as Potter sent the pirate she had been fighting skyward.
"I think we just saw Potter win her fight" Daphnie said dryly. "I'll let you know tomorrow if we learn anything else."
Tory hugged her sister. "Thanks, Daph". With that Astoria walked into her room, while Daphnie watches the charmed wall.
"Maybe Potter can help us with our problem".

In the Ravenclaw common room there was excited chatter. More than 1 claw had heard about Jasmine Potter's strange new powers, and they had also heard she would be looking for more partners.
It was unfortunate Padma's sister had been chosen first, but that didn't stop the claws from hoping 1 of them would join her later.
Cho Chang and her friend Marietta Edgecombe sat quietly. Unlike the others of their year and those older, these 2 understood just what it was Miss Potter was facing. Cho's father had been allowed to try out the elemental gamer power, but he had fallen to the darkness and the power had been ripped from him. The problem with that action was that it had also ripped his natural magic from him at the same time. Because of this Cho's father had been cast out of the family. Fortunately for Cho this was years after she had been born, and so she wasn't affected too badly.
"Do you think we could help her?"
Cho looked up at her friend's words.
"I think it is our duty to see to it that she never falls like my father did."
The 2 girls watched until Jasmine defeated the pirate, and then quietly made their way to their shared room.

In Hufflepuff there was silence as Jasmine fought against the pirate. Many of the students hoped she would lose the fight. Then maybe she would drop out of the tournament and allow 1 of theirs to be in the spotlight for once.
For a while it seemed they would get their wish. Jasmine was taking hit after hit from the pirate's axe, and hadn't landed a hit of her own after breaking the pirate's sword. Any thoughts of Potter being put in her place were violently dispelled as she unleashed a devastating punch that sent the pirate flying upward.
Susan Bones and Hana Abbot watched from the side lines as the common room descended into chaos. Both girls belonged to families that had an alliance with the Potter family. Both had tried to talk to Jasmine both separately and together every year since starting at Hogwarts. However, they had been blocked by Ron Weekly that first year before Halloween, and then by both Ron and Hermione Granger every time after that. The 2 girls hoped with Jasmine's new abilities that they would be able to finally renew the alliance between their families.
Both girls continued to watch as Jasmine walked through the door that had appeared when the pirate fell, quite literally.

In Gryffindor there was stunned disbelief. None of the students, except maybe Parvati Patel, had seen Jasmine deliver any kind of hit like the punch she landed on the pirate. At first, they had cheered when Jasmine broke the pirate's sword, but were quickly silenced when the pirate started using an axe. Ron and to a limited amount Hermione had been pointing out how Jasmine was nothing without them.
That idea was shattered when Jasmine sent the pirate upward with nothing but her fist, and only 1 of her fists at that.
Lavender and Parvati sat together smiling at the wall Professor McGonagle had charmed for the common room. Parvati was even happier that Jasmine was making progress in her solo dungeon. She couldn't wait for her first solo dungeon to manifest.
"Do you still want to wait Lav?"
Lavender looked thoughtful. "In truth I decided to join your team 2 days ago, but something tells me I need to wait."
Parvati turned to her friend in surprise. "You think someone else needs to join Jasmine before you do?"
Lavender nodded. "I have no idea who it is though."
Parvati hugged Lavender. "I guess we will just have to wait and see won't we."
Lavender nodded as the 2 girls continued watching Jasmine as she made her way through the dungeon.

Jasmine landed on a platform in mid-air. In front of her stretched a group of platforms, each with a letter inscribed in the middle of each.
Glancing around Jasmine found a sign attached to the side of the platform she was standing on.
"Only 1 Hogwarts house founder has a name that references a bird of prey. Jump from platform to platform spelling out this founder's name."
Jasmine looked thoughtful as she staired out across the platforms.
"Let's see" she muttered. "Gryffindor references a griffin, but though a griffin can fly, it's not a bird of prey."
"Slytherin references a snake, and Hufflepuff doesn't directly reference any animal. Much less a bird of prey."
"This just leaves Ravenclaw."
Returning her gaze to the platforms in front of her Jasmine looked for a platform with the letter "r" on it. Locating the platform a few seconds later she prepared to make her way across the platforms to the door she could see in the distance.
"let's see" she said to herself. "First R". With that Jasmine jumped to the platform with a "R" on it.
"Next a".
looking around she spotted the platform with an "A" a little way off. Taking a running start, Jasmine sprinted down the length of her current platform, and jumped to the next 1.
Glancing around she found a "V", but noticed the "E" was next to the platform she was standing on. Obviously, she would need to jump to the "V", and then back to "E" before she could continue forward.

In Ravenclaw the students watched in surprise as Jasmine proceeded to run and jump across platforms suspended in mid-air. What surprised them the most was the fact that the order she moved across the platforms spelled out their founder's last name.
"I think Potter has been holding back on her intelligence" Marietta said in the silence that had descended when it was discovered what the platforms were spelling out.
There was general agreement around the common room at Marietta's words. The claws quieted as Jasmine stepped through the door at the far end of the room.

"Hay now" Jasmine thought to herself, "what is this?"
In front of her was a wall of flames. The room was 10 by 10 square feet, and the wall took up maybe 4 feet on its own.
The wall of fire stretched from 1 side of the room to the other.
Where the door had been was now a wall with 4 levers. Each lever had a picture of some kind of creature one it.
The first lever had a picture of a basilisk coiling around a tree branch. This basilisk was nowhere near the size of the 1 she had faced in the chamber of secrets her second year. "Oh look" she squealed. "it's so much cuter when it's not trying to kill me."
– Separator –
In the Slytherin common room students looked at what Jasmine was looking at, and several fainted when they saw a picture of a basilisk.
"I guess the rumors our second year weren't all false" Tracy said looking around at the wizards who had decried anything Potter had done over the years.
– Separator –
The second lever had a picture of a dementor.
"Hay! that looks like the 1 that boarded the train at the start of my third year."
– Separator –
In the Gryffindor common room Neville whimpered as he recalled that chilling moment. If the dementor hadn't been focused on Jasmine, he was sure it would have sucked out his soul. After all he was closer to the door of the compartment then Jasmine was.
– Separator –
Jasmine found as she looked at the next picture. It showed a werewolf in the act of chasing 3 shadowy individuals through a forest.
"For some reason, this reminds me of when Professor Lupin forgot his wolfsbane potion at the end of my third year."
– Separator –
Cho and Marietta looked at each other in surprise at Jasmine's statement.
"How do you think they avoided being bitten?"
Cho shrugged.
"No Idea. What worries me more is the number of dark creatures Jasmine has faced while here at school."
Marietta nodded as the 2 girls watched Jasmine turn to the last lever.

Jasmine blinked when she saw the last picture. It showed a short man flying on a broom against a huge dragon. What was odd about this was the fact that the man had messy raven black hair, emerald green eyes, and a lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead.
"Who is this" she asked herself. "Could I have a brother? If so, how is it we both have the same scar."
She thought about it for a minute, and then shook her head.
"Somehow I doubt anyone could have missed 2 of us walking around. So that means this is a picture of a possible future. The only real difference is the person in the picture is a boy, and I'm a girl."
That was when the light bulb went off in Jasmine's head.
"This is a picture of the first task. I have to face a dragon. I hope if anyone is watching someone tells Cedric."
– Separator –
Susan Bones gasped as she realized the same thing Jasmine had. She needed to warn Cedric about the dragons.
Pulling out parchment and ink, Susan wrote a quick note explaining what she had seen, and warning Cedric about the first task.
– Separator –
Nodding to herself Jasmine reached out and pulled the right most lever down. With a flash of light, the wall of fire disappeared, and a door was revealed on the back wall.
"I hope this door finishes this dungeon" she muttered as she walked across the room, and opening the door walked through it.

An: and finally, this chapter is done. In the next chapter we will see the results of Jasmine's first solo dungeon, as well as skipping to the first task.
This won't be Jasmine's only solo dungeon, but the rest won't be anywhere near as long as this 1 was.
I'm curious to know if anyone spotted what the pictures in the last puzzle actually stood for. The last picture comes very close to spelling it out, but I don't know if it was too much or not.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the chapter, and I will see you all next time. Hopefully it won't take as long to get it out as this one.
