Today was my last day in Arizona. I was moving along with my sister, Bella, to Forks, Washington to go live with our father, Charlie. Forks was located in the heart of the Olympic Peninsula, between the Olympic mountains and the Pacific Ocean beaches. I was actually excited to be moving to new scenery. I quite enjoy the gloomy atmosphere that is Forks. It's always raining there. Living in Arizona, we don't get much rain.

Saying goodbye to my mother, Renee, was hard though. We were really close. I was considered Renee's shopping buddy while Bella wasn't really into that stuff. Bella was more of a tomboy kind of girl while I guess I'm more of a girly girl. I guess that's where our differences lie. Bella and I, we're identical twins. But we were far different than looks were concerned. As I wore makeup like eyeshadow, liner, and mascara, Bella was more of a natural kind of gal. While I liked to dress up and sometimes wear a skirt, Bella opted for jeans and layered shirts. But we shared the same hair, long, dark brown, and curly, and the same shade of pale skin. No matter how hard we tried, our alabaster skin wouldn't tan. We will blend perfectly in Forks with the rest of the pale faces.

Mom dropped us off at the airport and off we were to Forks, a straight shot flight. We were in the air for about four hours before we finally landed at our destination. Charlie was waiting outside for us after we retrieved our luggage. Naturally, I was carrying more luggage on me than Bella was. I dropped all my stuff on the ground to give Charlie a hug, it's been a couple of years since we last saw him. Bella also greeted him and gave him a hug and soon, we loaded our luggage and we were off to Charlie's house. Bella sat in the passenger while I chilled in the back of the police cruiser, staring out the window, taking in the gloomy surroundings. Charlie attempted to make conversation to clear the otherwise awkward silence, commenting on how both Bella and I's hair have gotten longer.

"We cut it since the last time we saw you," she mumbled, fingering her dark hair.

"Guess it grew out again." Charlie said, his dark eyes similar to our own firmly on the road ahead.

Bella just nodded while I took a shot at the conversation. "So dad, how are you doing?"

"Just fine. I'm, uh, happy to have you girls here with me. That's really cool."

"Yeah, for sure," I agreed.

"How's your mom?"

"She's good."

Then the conversation ended like that. I sighed and gave a little smirk, thinking how much Bella and Charlie were alike, introverted and quiet. I took over from my mom's side more. I wouldn't say I'm always confident but I was more of a talker than Bella was. She was a woman of few words. Still, I loved her. We got along, most of the time anyway. To cure the silence, I took out my iPod and put on some Rihanna music. It was kind of funny listening to upbeat dance music Rihanna while my surroundings deeply contrasted. I once again looked out the window and saw us approaching a sign. The City of Forks Welcomes You. Population of 3,246. Welcome, indeed. The town was particularly uneventful. There was a diner, police station, convenience store, post office, and gas station. No malls here unfortunately. That was my main concern when Bella suggested we go live with Charlie. What am I supposed to do for fun around here? But where Bella goes, I go too. We stick together.

Charlie pulled the cruiser into the driveway of my new home. An old two-story house with thankfully three bedrooms and unfortunately, one bathroom. I remembered very vividly of Bella and I fighting over the bathroom when we were younger. Charlie was silent as we unloaded our stuff and helped us to our new rooms. My new room was right next to Bella's and I dragged myself inside to inspect it. There was a closet, thank God, and a dresser with a desk and a full size bed with dark blue blankets and sheets. That will do. I thanked Charlie and closed my door and began unpacking my stuff.

One of the problems I realized while packing was that a lot of my clothes were perfect for Arizona but not somewhere cold and wet like Forks. Lots of shorts, skirts, short-sleeved T-shirts, and dresses. At least I brought one pair of jeans and a jacket. I'd have to go shopping soon. I unloaded my books and movies I brought with me. I was a book and movie nerd. That's something Bella and I both have in common.

After I was done unpacking, I went downstairs and outside only to realize we had company. Bella followed suit and we were greeted by an older gentleman around Charlie's age in a wheelchair with long black hair. Standing right next to him was a teenager, maybe a couple years younger with the childish roundness to his face, also sporting long hair. They both wore contagious smiles, I had to smile back. I think I remember them from a long time ago.

"Bella, Anna, you remember Billy Black," Charlie introduced.

"It's been a long time," I stepped forward to shake the old man's hand. "How are you?"

"Great. Glad you two are finally here." Billy smiled. "Charlie hasn't shut up about it since you told him you were coming."

I looked at Charlie and Billy, obviously they've been friends for a long time. It was nice to see a smile on my dad's face. He needed to smile more.

"Keep exaggerating. I'll wheel you down the hill." Charlie playfully threatened.

"Right after I ram you in the ankles." With that, Billy took off after Charlie in his wheelchair, making me laugh, seeing them play as if they were kids.

The teenager stepped up with a shy smile and a bell went ding-ding-ding in my head. "You're Jacob, now I remember you."

"Yeah, hi, I'm sorry I have to guess, you're Annalise, right?" Jacob blushed, looking embarrassed at the fact he couldn't tell Bella and I apart.

"I'm Bella, she's Annalise." I played. Jacob briefly looked confused and Bella scoffed a little bit.

"No, I'm Bella and she's Annalise. But she prefers if you call her Anna or Lise." Bella corrected, ruining my fun.

"Okay, um…" Jacob laughed a little bit. "Well um, anyway, we all used to make mud pies when we were little."

"I remember." Bella and I said at the same time.

Bella pointed to Charlie and Billy, still messing around. "Are they always like this?"

Jacob shrugged. "It's getting worse with old age."

Just then, Charlie came back and patted the truck that I realized was just sitting there. It was an ugly as fuck truck. Charlie addressed us, "So what do you guys think of your homecoming present?"

"This," I pointed, slightly disappointed. I mean, I wasn't expecting a Porsche or anything but a beat up old truck? However, Bella actually looked excited and I saw a genuine smile from her.

"No way. This truck is for us?"

"Just bought it off Billy here," Charlie said.

"I rebuilt the engine," Jacob added.

"It's perfect." She beamed and I opened the door and crawled into the passenger seat only to be met by Jacob opening the door. We shared a look, maybe a little too long, and I moved over to let him in. So I was stuck in the middle between Bella and Jacob.

Jacob handed Bella the keys and briefly explained to us how to drive the truck. Yeah, I will be making Bella drive this piece of shit. She seemed happy enough anyway.

"Did you want a ride to school or something?" Bella asked politely.

"I go to school on the reservation." Jacob explained.

"That's too bad. It would've been nice to know at least one person." Bella responded back and I bumped her shoulder with mine.

"Hey, you have me." I told her.

Bella nodded with a glum smile and I sighed. Tomorrow was going to be our first day of school as the new kids and I could already sense Bella's anxiety about that. I just know that tomorrow will be okay and I believe good things are coming our way.
