Chapter 6
Please Read!: Ok, so it's poll time so please send me a message in the review section with your answer. Do you guys want Sean and Harry, or Sean, Nick, and Harry? Your answer would influence how I proceed with the story :D.
Harry
Harry, of course, gave them the wrong address when they insisted on dropping him off directly at his apartment, and he gritted his teeth in frustration when they also insisted on waiting until he was inside. Luckily there was no sign of life coming from the home he'd pointed out to them, and with a simple Alohamora, he entered the place without looking back.
He looked out the window and waited for the two men to leave, but the car didn't move and he frowned in irritation. He quickly locked the front door before looking around the room and then closing his eyes. He focused on his own apartment before turning on the spot.
He reappeared in his room, knowing that the thugs wouldn't have gained access to his place due to the wards being up. They were quite subtle due to the many unknown factors surrounding the Wesen, but he was glad to see that the wards still affected them as they should.
A slight compulsion in the ward made any would-be intruders think that they had accomplished their goal of getting in, but that they found nothing. Harry was half tempted to simply open the door to confront them, but that wouldn't solve anything either so instead, he cast a repelling spell to make them leave.
Something inside him felt like rebelling at simply letting them go like that, but he knew that it shouldn't be much longer before the castle was completely fixed. He also didn't want to create a situation that might cause the thugs to turn up at the Spice Shop, so it was better to lay low for now.
He watched until the thugs became bored and left. The unsettling feeling in his chest wasn't leaving anytime soon though and he gritted his teeth in frustration as old memories resurfaced. The feeling of having his safe zone invaded was something he'd dealt with quite often in the past. Almost to the point where he would have developed PTSD if Draco hadn't put a stop to it at that time.
He squished it down and resolutely removed his shrunken chest from his neck before placing it on the floor and enlarging it. He had some research to do.
Sean
He watched as Harry entered the house, but Nick stopped him as he made a motion to start the car. He turned to the Grimm, only to find the man frowning at the house, "This isn't what Rosalee described when I asked her about where he lived a few days ago. I don't know how he gained access to the house just now, but I know he doesn't live there."
Sean looked at the house, and sure enough, none of the lights had been switched on. Which was one of the first things a person would do when getting home after dark. He motioned for Nick to exit the car and together they walked up to the house.
They didn't get far though, because one of the neighbors saw them as they were taking out the trash and waved them over with a smile. The old man told them that the family that lived in the house had gone on vacation and that they would only be back in a week or two.
They thanked the old man before returning to the car and giving the house another glance.
Both Sean and Nick somehow sensed that Harry wasn't in the house anymore and that was when Sean noticed a slight pulling feeling in his chest. He almost wanted to ignore it but given his heritage, he knew that it wouldn't be a good idea to do so.
Instead, he turned back to Nick, "Do you think Rosalee would give you Harry's address?"
Nick shook his head, "I doubt she would. We were supposed to drop him off at his home so she would find it suspicious if we call her to ask for his address. She would immediately realize that Harry didn't want us to know where he lived, otherwise he wouldn't have lied about it."
Sean frowned and his chest gave another slight pull. He glanced in the direction it came from and motioned for Nick to follow his directions. He could see that the Grimm was extremely confused, but he followed the directions nonetheless.
They ended up in front of a normal-looking apartment building but something about the building sent a shiver through Sean's body, and by the look of the goosebumps on Nick's arms, he wasn't the only one that felt the weird electricity in the air.
They parked slightly down the road, just in time to see two suspicious men coming from the back garden of the apartment. They were obviously Wesen, but it was as if they were in a slight trance as they walked away from the building. So much so, that they walked past his car without even glancing toward them and Sean caught a glimpse of his brother's brand on one of the men's wrists.
A shiver of both dread and anger crawled up his spine, but Sean forced himself to wait until the cronies left before he rushed out of the car. Nick followed close behind him, but it was only to grab his arm, "What the hell is going on?"
Sean lightly shrugged Nick's arm off as he motioned in the direction the two men went, "Those were two of my brother's men. They haven't set foot here in quite a while so I can only guess that my brother is up to something."
Nick frowned before his eyes widened in realization, "You think that this might have something to do with Harry?"
Sean nodded, "Nothing involving the area's local Wesen community has happened in the last couple of weeks, except Rosalee's introduction of her new assistant at the Spice Shop. I can only imagine that my brother would jump at the chance to have an insider in his employment, seeing as he was unsuccessful in recruiting you."
Sean's brows raised in surprise as the Grimm's gaze suddenly became deadly, and the abyss hidden in his eyes seemed to become more pronounced. That deadliness was something that caught Sean's eye even before Nick became a Grimm, and it made him relieved that the Grimm focused that energy and drive on protecting people, rather than something else.
Sean glanced back towards the apartment. He didn't even know if Harry really lived in the apartment before them, but he decided that he would find out. After all, it wouldn't do to leave without making sure that whomever they had visited was alright. He also couldn't deny that Harry was quite a sight when he seemed to be annoyed and a part of him really wanted to see him more.
And there was no doubt that the other man was definitely going to be annoyed if they appeared at his doorstep after he managed to evade them, which was something Sean intended to get answers to because no normal human could travel so far so fast. Not even one with knowledge about the Lost History and the techniques the Wesen ancestors used during those ages.
Harry
He tried to ignore it, he really did. He even wondered whether he could change some of his wards to keep certain people out the same way it kept out those people with ill intent, but in the end, he sighed, packed everything back into his chest before shrinking it once more, and walked to the door.
He didn't know how the duo managed to find him, but Sean was bound to recognize his brother's men and he would rather spend a few minutes assuring them that he was fine than ignoring it and maybe having his door kicked down. Even if a Repairo can fix it easily enough.
He glanced through the window and was surprised to find that the two men seemed to be quite worried as they walked towards the door, and not just the worry you show when you find out that something happened to an acquaintance you know either.
He set that thought aside as he opened the door with a sigh and crossed his arms as he leaned against the side, "You know, I am pretty sure that stalking is against the law, even for the police." He paused slightly before continuing, "Unless I am suddenly a wanted criminal of some sort?"
Both men were quick to shake their heads and Nick motioned in the general direction that the goons from earlier had taken, "We saw a few suspicious men in the area and wanted to make sure that they hadn't done anything."
Harry raised an unimpressed brow, "No go, try again."
Sean sighed and removed his wallet before taking something from one of the flaps and handing the paper over to Harry, "This is my brother's mark and it is the same mark that the men from earlier had. We think he might be trying to recruit you to be his spy inside the Spice Shop."
Harry's eyes narrowed in irritation before he grabbed both men by the shirts and pulled them inside before shutting the door and leaning against it for a few seconds after handing the paper back to Sean, "Let me guess, you want me to do just that, but instead of reporting to him, you want me to report to you."
Thoughts of Severus and everything he had sacrificed as a spy, ran through his mind, and he felt a wave of dark anger boiling up from within him. He refused to be some puppet in another person's game! He…!
His thoughts were cut off as he noticed the frowns of displeasure on both Nick and Sean's faces, and it was Sean that spoke up, "Actually, it's the opposite. If they are trying to target you then maybe it would be better if we set you up in a safe house for a while. Eric is ruthless when it comes to something he wants and he wouldn't hesitate to kill you if you refused."
Harry blinked at the two men in confusion for a moment. He was completely caught off guard by the way the duo worked and it seemed as if he was constantly misinterpreting their actions and words. Something he would have to remedy soon, seeing as they seemed to be the 'good guys' in this new world that he now resided in.
He briefly glanced towards the dining room table where a letter lay. It contained an update on the construction progress of Peverell Castle. Maybe he would be able to use one of the wings while they were still working on the rest of the castle.
He turned back to the two men, "I will make alternative living arrangements if that is truly the case, but I refused to be locked away in some safe house for who knows how long."
Nick seemed like he wanted to argue, but Harry shook his head, "I already have a place that I can go to and I can assure you that neither your brother nor his minions would be able to find it."
Sean stepped forward, "We would need to see it to determine whether that is truly the case. Eric has many people working for him, both human and Wesen, he could easily use any one of them to infiltrate most, if not all, places."
Harry smirked, "I would love to see him try."
He could practically feel the curiosity pouring from the duo and he gave in to that little voice in his head that wanted to shock the two in some way. He didn't like that they seemed to think that he was helpless, and although he wasn't completely ready to reveal his magic yet, there were still certain things that he could do to dampen their strangely protective behavior.
He grabbed his keys and phone before walking towards the door and turning back when he noticed that the men weren't following him, "Well? Did you want to see it or not?"
The two men immediately followed him and they waited as he locked up before walking towards Sean's car. Nick motioned for him to get into the front seat as he took the back and Sean got into the driver's seat. Both men turned to him and Harry gave a mental chuckle as he removed a compass-like object from his pocket.
It was one of the objects that had been left with him in his vault and it was the only reason he had managed to find Peverell Castle in the first place. He set it on the dashboard and cheerfully turned to the two men who were looking at him as if he might be crazy, "Follow the needle's directions, it will guide you."
He settled back and closed his eyes as if to take a nap. Sean hesitantly started the car and followed the direction that the needle was pointing and it wasn't long before he felt their shocked gazes on him as the needle fluidly changed directions to show them exactly where to go.
Who needs a GPS if you have magic?
