Hey guys

Hope you guys liked the last chapter

Extremely sorry for a late update

Alright so let me clarify something about the suggestion I have decided to use for my story.

That reader was not a Maya basher, but it was an interesting suggestion which I have sort of mixed with the idea of Riley and Maya having a small fight about their lives moving way too fast. It's not always easy to navigate through the changes in your life and that's why Riley and Maya are even arguing right now. If you check the previous reviews, then you can see the suggestion.

Till the end of Girl Meets World, we always saw Maya being Riley's first priority, but as you grow older things start to change. As you grow older, you change and that is what is sort of happening with Riley where Lucas is becoming more important to her than Maya. It's normal for any person to make his/her partner their first priority as their relationship grows stronger.

I don't want to spoil the story, but you will soon understand why Maya is acting weirdly when as Riley's best friend, she should be happy about the Rucas wedding.

PS: There is a poll on my profile based on one of the suggestions I was given so if you guys like the idea then please vote so that I can try to write the story accordingly.

If you don't want me to use it, then either let me know in the comments or message me personally about the same. I am still open to suggestions or requests if any of you guys are still interested.

Previously:

The dress shopping is complete for the Rucas Wedding.

The next morning Lucas and Auggie got a small bag ready so that they could spend some time in the park as planned the day before while Riley gets ready.

They join everyone for breakfast when Maya says, "Riles today we are going to spend some time together because we finally have a day to relax today. No wedding talk today because we are having a best friends only day."

Riley replies, "Peaches, I appreciate the idea, but I actually already promised Auggie that I'll spend some time with him today."

Maya says, "Oh, no problem. I'm sure Auggie won't mind if you postponed those plans."

Riley looks conflicted so Lucas replies, "It's alright Riley. Auggie and I will spend some quality brother time today, won't we buddy?"

Auggie looks at Lucas who discretely gestures to say yes so, he nods in agreement.

Riley sighs in relief and leaves with Maya for whatever plans her best friend had in mind for the day.

Lucas sees that Auggie looks a bit down because of the events of the day and asks, "Hey Aug, how about we work on your baseball skills today, huh?"

Auggie immediately perks up and runs to get his baseball equipment which makes Lucas smile.

Topanga says, "Thank you for handling the situation so well"

Lucas replies, "I know that Riley didn't want to hurt either Auggie or Maya's feelings. I could easily handle Auggie, so I told her to go with Maya. Besides, I love to spend time with my new buddy."

Cory says, "I know Lucas, but still thank you. Auggie doesn't really like Maya very much because she usually ruins his plans with Riley, so I'm glad that he has you now."

Lucas nods understanding and replies, "I'll have a chat with him about it later"

Auggie comes out with his baseball equipment and then leaves with Lucas for the park.

At the park, Lucas teaches Auggie how to properly grip and swing his bat before throwing him some pitches to practise. He then teaches the little boy how to throw the ball properly so that they can get the batters out.

After some time, they decide to take a small break and remove the food they had packed in the morning.

Auggie nervously asks, "Hey Lucas, can I ask you something?"

Lucas replies, "Sure buddy"

Auggie asks, "Don't you feel bad when Riley cancels her plans with you because of Maya?"

Lucas chuckles lightly and replies, "I had a feeling we would be having this conversation. But to answer your question, honestly, yes I do feel bad, but it's not like it's Riley's fault."

Auggie says, "Of course not. It's Maya's fault."

Lucas notices that Auggie had said Maya's name a bit rudely and replies, "Maybe, but you shouldn't be mad at her for that."

Auggie asks, "Why not?"

Lucas replies, "Because then you end up hurting Riley. Your sister knows that you feel bad because of Maya's actions, but she also knows that you are mature enough to understand the situation and act accordingly."

Auggie asks, "Why do we only have to understand? Why can't Maya do that for once?"

Lucas replies, "Well for starters, you are much more mature than Maya is sometimes. I understand where you are coming from because even I have had to modify my plans with Riley according to her wishes. I know that it's not a good feeling but there is no point in cribbing over the issue."

Auggie says, "I just hate the fact that Riley always thinks about Maya before herself whereas Maya only thinks of herself. If my sister wasn't like that then you both wouldn't have had to go through that whole triangle nonsense. If Maya was confused, Riley could have tried to help her without breaking up with you and hurting both of you."

Lucas sighs and replies, "Auggie don't think like that. It's the past so let it remain there. I promise you that Riley has learnt how to be selfish for her own happiness."

Auggies says, "How are you not mad at Maya for starting this confusion in the first place? I mean she started it with the whole Riley thinks of you as a brother when she was pretending to be her."

Lucas sighs and replies, "I'm not mad at Maya because it's not completely her fault. We all are to blame for that situation. I obviously wasn't the best unofficial boyfriend because of which Riley had doubts about our relationship. Riley didn't think to ask me about my feelings which resulted in the triangle being dragged for way to long and Maya was just plain confused."

Auggie says, "Even if you were allowed to speak, I doubt Riley would have believed you if Maya ended up getting hurt."

Lucas chuckles, "Ain't that the truth"

Auggies asks, "Do you even wish that you both didn't have to go through all that pain?"

Lucas sighs heavily and replies, "Sometimes yeah, but then I realize that Riley and my relationship is much stronger now because of that phase we went through. Yes, we got hurt back then, but now we know how important we are to each other. We both know what it's like when we aren't together so we will fight to stay together. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

Auggie says, "I guess so, but I would have preferred it if I didn't have to see my sister and my brother hurting because of a stupid third person"

Lucas replies, "I understand Auggie, but you also need to understand that if you are willing to fall in love, you also have to be prepared to be hurt as well. You can't have one without the other. The hurt helps you grow as an individual and as a couple. That's the beauty of life."

Auggie smiles and says, "I guess I understand it better now. I have to admit that you're already pretty good at giving life lessons. I'm sure that you'll be a great teacher someday. I wish I could be in your class."

Lucas replies, "Thanks buddy. I haven't decided which class I want to teach so maybe I'll decide to teach in your grade. Besides I'm going to be your brother in law so if you want, I could give you special lessons at home."

Auggie says, "I'll prefer your lessons over my dad's"

Lucas replies, "Your dad is a really good teacher buddy"

Auggie says, "I know but he's also my dad"

Lucas lets out a laugh and replies, "Alright I think I get your point, but it'll do you a world of good if you did pay attention in his class."

Auggie says, "I'll keep that in mind. I had a good time with you but it's getting late now so we should be getting back home."

Lucas nods and packs up everything before the two boys start walking back home.

They boys enter the house to find Riley waiting for them.

As soon as Riley sees them, she runs up to her little brother and says, "I'm so sorry about today, Bubba. I didn't want to cancel our plans, but I didn't expect Maya to plan something so suddenly."

Auggie replies, "Riley it's alright, I understand. Besides, I had a really good time with my brother. We played baseball and now I'm sure that I'll impress the coach with my skills so he will have to put me on the team this year."

Riley says, "I'm glad you had a good time. I wish I could have been there."

Auggies smiles and replies, "Lucas and I had a heart to heart conversation and he taught me a pretty good life lesson so it's all good."

Cory comments, "Starting early now, are we Mr. Friar?"

Lucas chuckles and replies, "I didn't actually plan on teaching Auggie anything, but it just sort of came out. I'm just glad that I could help my little brother."

Cory says, "The most important life lessons come unexpectedly. I'm sure you'll make a great teacher in the future."

Riley asks, "What did you boys talk about?"

Lucas replies, "Well, that's between us brothers"

Riley retorts, "I'm your future wife"

Auggie replies, "Like my favourite brother in law said, it's between us brothers"

Riley says, "He's your only brother in law"

Auggie replies, "Doesn't matter and we're still not telling you"

Lucas chuckles watching his fiancée have a baseless argument with her little brother.

Topanga, having had enough of the senseless argument, says, "Quit fighting you two. I want some peace and quiet in my house. Now we're going to have an early dinner so that Lucas and Riley can reach their dorm on time."

Everyone sits at the dining table almost immediately.

During dinner Lucas asks, "What did you do with your Peaches today?"

Riley replies, "Well Maya decided to have a spa day today so that we could relax after our shopping trip yesterday"

Auggies says, "I'm glad you got to relax properly today. And don't worry, we'll spend some sibling time later on. Right now, you just concentrate on your wedding."

Riley jokingly replies, "You're just saying this because you want Lucas to officially and legally become your brother"

Auggie teasingly says, "Of course That's the best part of this wedding."

Cory and Topanga are happy to see the siblings joking around after the morning incident with Maya. They both were worried that Auggie might be very hurt, but it looked like Lucas had managed to fix the situation.

After dinner, Lucas and Riley bid their family farewell and headed back to their college.

Alright so Lucas seems to be starting pretty early on the life lessons
