There is something missing from our world. The amazing animals that time has left behind. But what if we could bring them back? What if extinction didn't have to be forever? were going back in time on a safari with a difference, as wildlife adventurer Nigel Marvin plunges into prehistory to rescue creatures on the brink of extinction. His plan is to bring them back to the safety of the present day to give them a second chance.
This time, Nigel is traveling back to prehistoric Mongolia to save the largest land mammal the earth has ever seen.
Welcome to the ultimate wildlife sanctuary, welcome to prehistoric park.
From Martha the wooly mammoth to a pride of saber tooth tigers, the prehistoric park is home to a multitude of prehistoric mammals as well as several modern day mammals from Cheeto the cheetah and a herd of elephants. But the park is ready for a few more warm blooded residents.
Nigel can be seen sitting in his jeep watching two Black rhinoceros through his binoculars. "These are our resident Black rhinoceros Zimbabwe and Kenya." The Camera view changes to Nigels binoculars point of view. "These beautiful creatures are slaughtered everyday for their ivory horns." he pauses, "So we have to have extra security around their enclosure incase of poachers." A ranger with a gun can be seen behind the rhinos as they graze. The Elasmatherium walks past the jeep towards the black rhinos. "Hes very happy here with his futuristic relatives."
Nigel saved the Elasmotherium during a visit to the ice age. Nigel now hopes to add another species of prehistoric rhino to the prehistoric park.
"Rhinos are such an amazing type of mammal that I've decided my next target species will be one of their many prehistoric relatives. With a history spanning millions of years there are several candidates from the mighty brontotherium to the famous wooly rhino but it has to be one of their most unusual and rather spectacular ancestors Paraceratherium, the largest land mammal to ever walk the earth.`` The elasmotherium snout releases a thick cloud of steam causing Kenya to move away from Zimbabwe.
"Paraceratherium didn't look at all like its relatives. It was hairless like Kenya and Zimbabwe but had no horns. Unlike the elasmotherium it lived in the open plains of prehistoric Mongolia and lived a lifestyle more fitting to a giraffe than a rhinoceros."
With Paraceratheriums impressive size Nigel is going to ensure their enclosure has enough space.
Bob can be seen at mammoth mount feeding Martha the mammoth and her adoptive african elephant herd family. He holds out a handful of fruit to the ice age giant who swiftly rakes it from him using her trunk, which makes Bob's face break into a smile. "I'll never tire of that," he says, visibly beaming.
"Due to the sheer size of the Paraceratherium, we've decided to expand Mammoth Mount by three times its current size.""this to allow them enough room to roam without wanting to break out of their enclosure like the titanosaurs did."
Bob begins to have flashbacks of the incident causing him to zone out, that is until Martha ruffles what little hair remains on his head.
"Oh sorry I must have zoned out as I was saying Nigel and Susanna think the elephant herd and the Paraceratherium have enough space here now to live here in harmony and the silver lining is all I have to do is expand the paddock and build a shelter for them to sleep in at night." He passes Martha the last of the fruit from his bucket and begins to walk down towards the holding pens.
Alough Bob may not need to build an enclosure for the Paraceratherium its highly unlikely Nigel will be able to resist the strange and wonderful creatures that inhabited prehistoric mongolia 25 million years ago.
Sussane is talking to Nigel as he loads up his jeep ready for his next mission, she is in full veterinary gear. "I thought I'd come by to wish you luck before you leave." She pulls down her mask so he can hear her better. He pauses "Thank You sussane how is Gill's treatment going?"
Gill is one of the Gilmosaur that Nigel saved from extinction. Unfortunately it was revealed that a tumor in her leg was cancerous and is now undergoing raidopharpy.
"Well it's coming up for three weeks into treatment so we have some time to go but so far she's doing ok." Nigel packs his journal into his bag as well as his flask. "Make sure to keep me updated, hopefully it won't be too long until the park is home to its second species of prehistoric rhino." Before Sussane can reply Bob calls out. "Well hopefully your new rhino won't produce as much dung as your first!" Both Nigel and Sussane look at eachother and laugh.
The Elasmotherium consumes around 300 pounds worth of food a day. By construction the Paraceratherium consumes 750 pounds a day. Meaning head keeper Bob may need to get a bigger wheelbarrow for his dung round…
Nigel goes up to Bob and whispers the news in his ear before getting into the jeep. Bob's cheery face scrunches up like a disposed of piece of paper.
"By heck Nige what am I gonna do with all that dung?" Nigel doesn't reply to his colleague But instead puts his foot down on the excelerator and plunges into prehistory. All that can be heard is Nigel shouting "Mongolia here we go again!"
"I've got an idea what we can do with all the dung Bob" Smirks Sussane.
Nigel has returned to the plains of prehistoric Mongolia however this time he is no longer in the late cretaceous period but the early tertiary period. Meaning he won't encounter any velociraptor or Electrosaurus but a variety of unique prehistoric mammals.
The jeep is speeding along a harsh desert environment unlike his last visit to mongolia there is no sand to be seen but endless plains of dry cracked barren earth. Scattered throughout are several isolated trees and shrubs. "This is brilliant, we've come back to prehistoric Mongolia. This time we are in the tertiary period, a time where mammals are well and truly in control now." he begins to slow down the jeep. "We've come back to the dry season so life here at the moment is very much survival of the fittest."
Luckily for Nigel the Paraceratherium has adapted to such a harsh environment.
"Due to the sheer size of Paraceratherium they are able to go several days without food or water much like modern day camels they can store the nutrients they need within their bodies the-"
Before Nigel can continue a large hunch backed animal smashes its head against the left hand side of the jeep.
"What on earth" screams Nigel swerving the jeep. However its not long before another of the same species appears and does the same thing instead this time smashing into the right hand side of the jeep causing it to spin out of control and crash into a tree.
It seems some things will never change in the Mongolia desert like Nigel being hunted by prehistoric predators.
Smoke is pouring out from the bonnet of the jeep causing the predators to stand back and sniff the air. Another two of the species run to join them. Wasting no time to make a run for it Nigel and his team climb up the tree.
It's not too long before the predators work out the smoke isn't a threat.
Just as Nigel climbs to safety the jaws of the repulsive looking beast misses Nigels foot by a fraction. "That was too close." pants Nigel who wipes sweat from his forehead with one hand whilst the other is clutching to a tree branch meanwhile the predators circle the tree.
Whilst Nigel tries to work his way out of his new found predicament Bob may be about to solve his thanks to Park Vet sussanne.
Bob and Sussane are now both at the elasmotherium paddock staring at a large pile of dung. "So then sussane put us out of our misery, what's your plan for all this dung?" asks Bob who's got his arms closed. "Well we can use it all for fertilizer as well as mosquito repellent." Bob tilts his head to the side, confused.
Subsistence farmers have been using elephant dung as a type of fertilizer for generations.
"Because they digest so little of their food, herbivore dung makes for excellent compost. This is. What is left is a pile of semi-digested leaves, grass and bark and fruit which is very good for soil." The Elazmathirum produces some more dung for sussanes idea. "Ok Sussane that's a great idea and will help expand the orchard but You've lost me with how some dino dung will stop mosquitos." Bob adds the dung to the pile as he awaits sussanes response.
"Well Bob. All you need to do is light up a bit of dried dung, and the smoke will keep mosquitoes away for the entire night. You might be concerned that the smell will be worse. But in fact it is quite a pleasant, musky smell, and is actually less offensive to your nostrils than the average spray-on repellent."
Sussane's walkie talkie crackles to life -"Sussane we need you at raptor rampart asap"
"Right I better be off Bob ,enjoy dung collecting." Sussane waves at Bob before getting in a jeep and is driven to the raptor rampart.
"Alright for some " sighs Bob as he attaches the dung to the back of his jeep.
Back in Mongolia Nigel is trying to escape from the jaws of a prehistoric predator. Whilst seeking refuge in a tree.
"We've been up here for a good thirty minutes now which has given me enough time to identify them as Enelodont." The large bulky beasts ram the tree trying to knock Nigel and his crew from it.
"They are bizarre looking animals. They have this muscular body with such slender legs, then that massive head with those elongated cheek bones and snout."
The largest of the Entelodont rams the tree once more this time nearly causing the camera man to fall to his demise. " They are omnivores meaning natural born survivors that will eat anything from flesh to veg to bones" The Enteldont ram again this time causing the tree to slightly tilt.
"They are absolutely relentless !" Nigel again wipes some sweat from his forehead. "They are distantly related to hippos but their closest living ancestor is the pig." The smallest of the four makes a jump at Nigel's feet, its jaws open revealing thick saliva attached to the jaws of its mouth.
"I'm a lover of all animals in all shapes and sizes but these have to be the ugliest of them all with a breath that could kill a trex! But these poor things are just trying to survive and are clearly dehydrated."
The largest Enteldont gives the tree another ram causing the trunk to begin to split.
"We gooners if they get this tree down." panicks Nigel
Nigel's luck seems to have run out; however a sign from above might just save him.
In the air a large flock of vulture-like birds fly overhead and begin to circle. The largest Entedon belows a grunt and runs toward the birds which causes the other three to follow suit.
Once they are well and truly out of the way nigel and his team makere way down from the tree which by now has seen better days. "That was a close one." sighs Nigel who is brushing himself down.
"There not as stupid as they look those birds are probably an early form of vulture, the entedon know that where ever they go food follows."
he turns to Danny one of the members of his team ."Get Bob to get a Titanosaur to tow to jeep back to the park so it can be prepared." Danny nods and sets up the portal. "Oh and Danny tell Bob to build a large enclosure suitable for a pack of large mammals, I think it's about time that park welcomes its first prehistoric pigs." adds Nigel grinning to the camera.
With Nigel's heart now set on saving the Enteldont from extinction, Head Vet Sussane is dealing with the park's latest issue, infighting within the pack of Velociraptors.
At Raptor Rampart Sussane can be seen jumping out of her jeep and joining her team who have a hose aimed down towards the raptors pit. "Get it on now!" she shouts causing Sarah to turn it on.
Sand and dirt fills the air as red and orange feathers dance in the chaos of Quinne and Agatha snapping at each other. The larger of the two Queeine pins down Agatha causing the smaller raptor to let out a screech.
The pain enrages the raptor and snaps at Queenie's neck. Its at this point the two are separated by a blast of water from the hose.
Agatha shakes herself off whilst Queenie runs towards vinnie who immediately begins to mate with her. Agatha runs into the enclosure's den.
Sussane is standing by the enclosures barrier."What we just witnessed is the two females fighting for the right to breed with are only male member of the pack Vinnie, its extremely rare for females to fight over a male but what I believe has happened is Agatha and Vinnie were mates before Nigel saved them and Quinnie had her own mate who died just before they were saved."
*A flashback shows the male raptor getting engulfed by sand*
Velociraptors are believed to have mated for life like many modern day birds. And with Queenie's partner no longer alive she has decided to go after Agatha's. Something she was not willing to give up without a fight.
"It must be the breeding season for them which is why they were fighting over Vinnie." she pauses. " With Queeine being the leader of the pack Agatha didn't stand a chance."
With several injuries obtained from Queenine, Agatha will need to be checked over by Sussane and her team.
Sussane is now on the enclosures bridge she places a tranquilizer dart into her gun then takes fire at Agatha. In the pit below Agatha lets out a squawk whilst in the background on top of the mini waterfall, an oblivious Vinnie continues to mate with Quinnie.
"Once she's Knocked out we'll remove her for a couple of days and give her a once over to make sure she's ok which will give Queenie and Vinnie enough time to hopefully give us some baby raptors." Agatha now collapses.
"I think I know how we can ensure both Queenie and Agatha get a chance to lay eggs." She grins at the camera as a knocked Agatha is placed in a trailer and driven to the vet practice.
Back in prehistoric Mongolia Nigel is hot on the trail of the Entelodont pack.
Nigel is now walking along the canyon in the forefront; the Entelodont pack can be seen running around the flock of large birds.
" it's crazy to think that a few million years ago we could have been standing right here saving the raptor pack." he chuckles at the thought. "We're at the peak of the dry season so we need to be alert as some of these animals have not had a fresh meal in months."
Most people walking towards a deadly food deprived predator unprotected would see it as a netaive but not Nigel he sees it as an opportunity.
A shrub provides Nigel cover as he looks through his binoculars. The camera now switches to the point of view of nigels binoculars.
The binocular shot shows the Entelodont pack running through the vultures in a circular motion chasing after a short haired rhino sized wolf. "I don't believe it Hyaenodon!"
Hyaenodon is another of prehistoric Mongolia's deadliest predators and one of the only to take on a pack of Entelodont.
The Hyaendont wipes its paw at one of the smaller Entelodont. Nigel zooms in revealing a large gray mammalian collapsed on the floor. "Now whatever that is has attracted these predators here."
The vultures continue to swarm the fallen creature whilst the Hyaenodon is backed up by another three of its kind. "This is now a fair battle. The vultures are still circling which gives me confidence that whatever the animal is has still got a fighting chance, I just need to get closer."
Nigel puts down his Binoculars. "These creatures are starving which gives me the perfect opportunity use myself as bait." He runs toward the fighting predators causing them to stop and turn their attention towards him.
He puts down the time portal sticks and activates them. The light of the portal as well as its whirling humming sound causes the Hyaenodon to make a run for it.
Whilst the Hyaenodon pack are scared off by the time portal the Entelodonts are no cowards.
"Ok it's show time ." and with that Nigel runs towards the charging Entelodonts. As he gets closer towards them it's clear what species the mammal is "Paraceratherium!" A young Paraceratherium can be seen lying on its knees with its neck down.
Nigel has found his target species. However this particular Paraceratherium is in a very poor condition. Nigel will have to think fast to ensure he survives to save it.
The largest of the entelodont is just behind Nigel. Sprinting towards the portal Nigel quickly deactivates it causing the swirling light of the 21st century to close in front of him.
Nigel turns, falling on his back just behind the portal. The Entelodont goes in for the kill leaping towards him with its jaws open salivating everywhere. With seconds to spare Nigel reactivates the portal and brings it back to life.
With nowhere to go but the future, Entelodont falls through the portal. The two entelodont that were directly behind the first follow suit also going through the portal. The smallest of the four stops in its tracks.
Nigel on the other side of the portal can just make out what's going on. The Entelodont cowers before plunging through the portal.
Back at the park Bob is about to receive a surprise.
Bob is driving his jeep with a empty trailer attached near the holding pens. He turns to the camera. "I've just come back from Dolly the Desmatosuchus enclosure to collect some dung for the pile."
The portal flashes back to life and brings with it the entelodont pack. "Close holding pen one now lads!" shouts Bob to his team. On que a young man and a girl with pink dyed hair pull down the lever containing the Entelodont pack. "
Bob goes up to the holding pen "What on earth are they?" before anyone can answer him the biggest Entelodont roars directly in his face. The stench of the beast causes Bob to gag.
With the Entelodont dealt with, Nigel must now try and save the young Paraceratherium from the dangers of the desert.
Nigel approaches the young Paraceratherium. Flies swarm all around the young animal whilst vultures circle above it. "This is what we've been searching for Paraceratherium, by the looks of it hes a young male I'd estimate around three years old but hes not small by any means hes the size of an adult african elephant."
The Paraceratherium releases a low below. "Hes just letting out a warning call not that hes in any state to do anything hes very dehydrated from the look of it." Nigel pulls his flask out of his ruck sake and pours water into the young Paraceratheriums mouth. The male takes it alough most falls out as he tries to raise his neck.
"If we can just get him to go through the portal sussane can treat him with some fluids." Nigel grabs the portal sticks and places them by the Paraceratherium. "Come on mate lets get you to safety, come on," Nigel gets up, puts his hand in his pocket and pulls out some berries. "Hopefully this will lure him."
The male takes them from his hand but struggles to make it to his feet. Suddenly the portal opens revealing head vet sussane.
With word from Nigels team getting back to the park about the young Paraceratherium, there's only one woman who can help save the young male from dehydration head vet Sussane.
Following her is a jeep with a trailer, ready to take the male back to the vet practice for treatment.
"Right team I'm going to need him sedated and loaded onto this jeep." A group of twelve men and women composed of both Nigel's team and Sussanne's staff help get the male into the trailer.
"Sussane!" beams Nigel "thank you so much!"
"Well you didn't think you were the only one who could time travel did you?" she giggles taking in for the first time that she's actually traveled to the ancient past before snapping back into professional mode. "Come on, we need to get back." They both follow the jeep as it goes through the portal.
The young male may have made it to the safety of the present day but hes not out of the woods yet as he needs urgent medical attention. The team have named him Bruno
We see a shot of the sun begging to set as the Paraceratherium is being taken past Agatha the velociraptors temporary pen at the vet practice.
Whilst Bruno battles to make it through his first night in the present day. Nigel goes to check on the Entelodont's new enclosure dubbed 'Entelodont Everglades'.
The sun has now set on the park. The Entelodont have been placed in a trailer and are being driven into their new home. It is located near the arizonasaurus enclosure and is a mix of marshy grassland.
"Release them now". Shouts Bob who's sitting with Nigel watching as they run around exploring their new habitat.
"They really are odd Nige." Mutters Bob.
"They are bizarre I'll give you that but they shouldn't be too much trouble just think of them as giant pigs." Nigel pours some coffee into a cup and passes it to Bob. "In fact they've been dubbed hell hogs".
"Well I can see why with their faces well what should I be feeding them?" He takes the coffee from Nigel. The large Entelodont is now rolling around in the mud.
"Trust me Bob they won't cause you any problems on that front they are omnivores so they will eat anything especially at the moment they are ravenous." The other three Entelodont begin to eat the roots of an old tree.
"Well that will be a first a creature that isn't fussy" Bob laughs and goes to sip his coffee forgetting its still hot burning his tongue.
"Careful Bob, it's still hot!" Warns Nigel two minutes to late. Bob rolls his eyes as Nigel laughs. Bob pulls out some dung from a bag and sets it to a light much to the disgust of Nigel who gets up and leaves shaking his head.
"What its natural mosquito repellent Sussane said to ''. Bob sits alone whilst the dung burns bright.
We get a shot of the sun rising over T. Rex hill, Matilda's shadow stands tall overlooking the park.
The next day Nigel goes to the vet practice to see how Bruno is getting on.
Nigel walks into the vet practice holding pens. There are a total of three pens all of which are indoor enclosures to reduce the risk of infection spreading. Nigel is wearing a face mask and gloves as a precaution.
He steps in a tray of disinfection as he enters. The first pen is temporarily holding Agatha who is doing well after her fight with queenie only receiving a few cuts.
"Morning Agatha." Comments Nigel as he passes her, she releases a sharp squawk at him.
The middle pen is housing Gill The Gilmosaur who has just had another round of radiotherapy. "Morning Gill." repeating the same gesture as he did mere moments ago. Gill bellows a grunt that cuts through Nigel.
The final is housing bruno. He is now standing and eating leaves from a tray drilled into the wall. He has a large IV drip attached to his left leg.
"It looks like you got there in the nick of time Nigel any longer and he wouldn't have made it." says Sussane who is looking through her notes.
"More like if you hadn't helped us" reminds Nigel who is overjoyed Bruno will be ok.
"I still can't believe I've been to the past!" she pauses to remanis before returning to the conversation. "I've been doing some research and after three years a mother will destroy the bond of her calf in order to reproduce again and I think that's what's happened here Bruno was left on his own for the first time and didn't do so well."
Bruno walks over to get some water to get some water revealing a light limp on his back right leg.
"I think that's why he has a limp. I think his mother had a new calf and kicked him out literally but its not broken so it should heal with time."
"Well that's great news as young Bruno is the first member of prehistoric parks Paraceratherium breeding program." Nigel gazes at the young Paraceratherium.
"Well we're going to need more than one juvenile male Nigel," says sussane in a sarcastic tone.
"I'm going to go back to when the Paraceratherium where on their last legs." Sussane joins Nigel in marveling in the wonder of the prehistoric rhino as the camera pans to the ceiling.
Nigel is now going back to the time where Paraceratherium was on the verge of extinction due to other large megafauna such as several newly evolved species of elephants migrating into Europe from Africa.
Nigel is driving through the same area as before however it is now pouring with rain. "We've arrived in the wet season alright it's absolutely pouring it down" fresh vegetation is starting to grow on the once lifeless trees and shrubs.
"We've had a research team go out a few days ago to scout for any signs of Paraceratherium and they have found a small herd of mothers." Lightning strikes lighting up the plains.
"It would be amazing to save a whole herd so we are going to make our way to where they have been tracking them."
With Nigel off the trail of a whole herd of Paraceratherium head keeper Bob is just completing his dung collecting for the week.
Bob can be seen in the titanosaur enclosure on a dump truck scooping up a mass pile of dung. "This beats a shovel anyday! With this lot the elephant herd, theo, dolly, the placerias herd, elasmotherium and all the other creatures here it's safe to say we have enough manure and mosquito repellent to last a lifetime."
He laughs to himself as he clears away the dung driving off to add it to his megga heap of dung in the orchid unaware hes also taken several football eggs buried within with him …
Whilst Bob is unknowingly making his life hard for himself Sussane is back at raptor rampart.
The Veterinary team can be seen releasing Agatha back into the enclosure. "It's all go here at the moment. Bruno is doing a lot better now so we're just waiting for Bob to finish the Paraceratherium house before we can release him into his new home."
"And Gill is still going through her treatment so fingers crossed." Sussane crosses her fingers to the camera. Danny loads the tranquilizer gun.
"So what we're doing today is reintroducing Agatha to Vinnie whilst removing Queenie." On que Queenie is shot with a dart. She shrieks jumping at the bridge before falling asleep.
"This will allow both of our females the chance to reproduce which gives us a better chance of breeding our own velociraptors." She takes a deep breath and releases it with a smile.
Back in Mongolia Nigel's wish of finding a herd of Paraceratherium is about to become a reality.
The rain is still coming down hard. The jeep is parked behind a large tree Nigel is standing on its roof as he watches two large females feast on the leaves whilst their young copy them.
"This is just brilliant. These two females are so large they must be around seven meters tall and weigh around eight rhinos." he wipes the rain from his face before continuing. "They are traveling at night as it's cooler like elephants and rhinos do today."
The larger of the female pushes away her calf who is trying to suckle for milk. "These calves must be around one years old as they are being weaned off their mothers milk and must now feed themselves."
The young calf watches its mother. "They will copy their mothers by using their lips to reach the leaves at the top of trees and shrubs much like modern day giraffes."
The smaller female sniffs a pile of dung. "Each Paraceratherium has its own unique odder so the female who will now be fertile is sniffing in search of a mate." Nigel gets off his jeep to get closer.
"These beautiful creatures can live up to 80 years of age there name is latin for near honed beast." The rainfall increases causing the young calves to run around the tree. "These calves will stay with their mothers until there around three years old before they leave to lead their own lives."
Without warning two large male Paraceratherium appear causing the mothers to stop eating and walk towards them.
"Now one of these males were spotted by my team yesterday apparently they were breeding with the females which can last on and off for around 35 hours, this is to ensure no other male can breed with them." The Two males square off at one another,
Due to their sheer size the only danger to a Paraceratherium is another Paraceratherium so if Nigel wants to save this small herd from extinction he must think on his feet. Back at the park Bob has completed the Paraceratherium house and is about to introduce its first guest, a recovered Bruno.
The Paraceratherium resembles a modern day giraffe house but is six times the size in order to contain the large mammals. Two stained glass windows are placed parallel at either side of the house. Bruno can be seen eating from a high up food basket. Head keeper Bob has his back to the paddock.
"We've got ten separate paddocks for each Paraceratherium to sleep in at night, then they come and go into them throughout the day. Their outside enclosure has been separated to allow one side for males and one for females." Bob scratches his head.
"Hopefully Nigel is able to save a Paraceratherium or two so it's not just Bruno contributing to the dung pile, not that he has yet." A large pile of dung falls onto Bob's head seeping into his shirt and down his back. "Bruno for pete's sake!"
With Bob receiving a thankyou present for his new home from Bruno, Nigel has to think fast in order to save the last of the Paraceratherium.
The two male begin bashing their heads into one another. "This is how the males will fight for the right to breed with a female; they will bash each other with those massive heads."
"The males have adapted skulls to withstand any major damage from these displays." The females go back to eating.
"Right operation Paraceratherium here we go." Nigel pulls out his walkie talkie "go guys go" he shouts. The time portal flares to life with several quad bikes speeding through to the past.
The quad biked drive around the males causing them to stop fighting. "The plan is to steer them through the portal ." The calves hide in between their mothers legs.
Quad bikes are often used to herd animals like sheep today but Paraceratherium is a first.
The smaller of the two males becomes so spooked it stands on its hind legs "goodness me this is amazing the sheer size of these creatures has not been seen since the time of dinosaurs."
The quad bikes now get in between the females causing the female and her calf to join the two males who are now running towards the portal. "It's working!" The two males charge through the portal as does one of the mother Paraceratherium and her young.
The park has gained four more Paraceratherium however during the commotion of the rescue the other female and her young have made a run for it.
The rain is dying down as the sun starts to rise. Nigel is driving in the direction of the mother Paraceratherium who has walked towards a lake.
"These lakes have been created from the sudden rainfall." The mother Paraceratherium crosses the lake in a few steps. Her calf watches from the lakeside.
"This is probably the first time the young calf has seen a lake." The mother has now crossed to the other side and calling for her calf to follow.
With the young calf too scared to take the plunge into the lake Nigel makes the most of this opportunity.
Nigel runs towards the young calf " Aren't you gorgeous, she's a female around a years old and she must be around a ton in weight." the young calf cries out to its mother.
"We need to get her through the portal to the safety of the park and hope her mother follows." One of nigels team sets up the portal.
"Come on, go through." The calf, clearly distressed, runs through the portal Nigel looks back at the mother "her maternal bond should be strong enough to get her to follow." Nigel follows the calf.
On the other side the other Paraceratherium are in separate holding pens. Bob can't get over the size of the adults. "They're huge!"
Nigel runs through followed by the mother Paraceratherium who is reunited with her calf. "She came through and we saved them all!" Nigel jumps up and down with joy.
Nigel goes up to Bob. "Well there's gonna be some more dung for you to burn Bob." Nigel chuckles.
Bob nods in agreement "eye nige there will be."
"And there's always Bruno Bob." casually adds Nigel.
" We don't talk about Bruno Nige, we don't talk about Bruno " Bob shivers, relieving the thought of cleaning all the dung out from his clothes. Leaving Nigel very confused.
The park is now home to a pack of hell hogs as well having a breeding programme for the Paraceratherium.
Bob is walking Nigel through the Paraceratherium house where all the Paraceratherium are in there overnight holding pens.
Bob talks to the camera. "So of course we have Bruno, then we have Percy, the smallest of them are adult males not that you can call him small."
He walks on to the next male "This is Perry the largest Male we have and currently the world's largest land mammal, Then we have Patricia and her son Nathan and last but not least Peggy and her daughter Lara."
"Love the names Bob" complements Nige. "They really are something."
"That they are Nige That they are." agrees Bob placing his arm on his old friend's shoulder as they gaze up at the prehistoric beasts. The camera pans out of the paraceratherium house window
With another species saved from extinction, Nigel can relax but not for long with the park's breeding season already started; it won't be long before the park has to deal with the aftermath…
The camera continues to pan from outside the window and down the trunk of a large oak tree all the way to its roots revealing several more of the football sized eggs begin to hatch...
Next time on Prehistoric Park
Breeding season is in full swing
*The Moas mating
Bob goes on a egg hunt
*Bob has a basket full of eggs
And Nigel flies with giants
*Nigel flying a small plane alongside a large flying reptile
Apologies for the delay. Unfortunately lifes been mad for me at the moment with a pandemic new job and no inspiration for a while it's been tough. Trivia time:The working titles for this were Mammal mania and Hell Pigs (back when the story was more about them). I promise to finish this series before 2023 which should be easier now I have the last two stories planned out. See you next time :D
