Chapter 3: House Elf?
Today was the first day of school. Students will be showing up later this evening. Hermione and Harry were hanging out in the quad.
"Tell me more about this House Elf, Harry." Hermione said.
"Well…" Harry paused as he recalled what happened earlier that morning. "A House Elf by the name of Dobby showed up in my room telling me that I should go back to the Dursleys and not attend school this year."
"Have you told Dumbledore?" Hermione asked.
Harry shook his head. "He wouldn't understand."
"You don't know that, Harry."
"Let's wait a little longer. I don't want to worry him or McGonagall." Harry said.
"Very well." Hermione said.
Hermione sighed as she laid down on the maroon and gold blanket.
"Are you alright Hermione?" Harry asked.
"I keep thinking that this is a dream."
"What do you mean?"
"Me being Dumbledore's daughter. You, now being my brother. It feels like a dream."
Harry laid back as well. "I've only been a Dumbledore for a week. It feels so much better than the previous life I had before."
Hermione smiled at Harry. Just then Dobby popped right in front of them, causing the siblings to draw their wands.
"Dobby?"
"Hello Harry Potter. Hermione Dumbledore." Dobby nodded to the two.
"What are you doing here?" Harry asked, lowering his wand.
"Harry Potter must return home." Dobby said.
"Dobby, Harry isn't leaving. Dumbledore adopted him." Hermione said.
Dobby was stunned to hear this. He began using the book to hit himself in the head with. He felt the need to punish himself for not stopping it sooner.
Hermione yanked her book back as Harry checked over the elf.
"Are you alright?" Harry asked Dobby.
Dobby nodded his head. "You must stay safe, Harry Potter."
And with a snap of his fingers, Dobby was gone. Hermione and Harry exchanged looks before they got up and headed for Dumbledore's office.
"Whoa easy." Dumbledore said, holding up his hands. "What's the hurry you two?"
Hermione was ready to explain, but Harry stopped her. For some reason he decided not to tell Dumbledore.
"We're playing tag, sir." Harry said.
Dumbledore raised an eyebrow. He knew of the Muggle game called tag. Many of the younger witches and wizards played it. Although, something told him that Harry was keeping a secret.
"Very well. No playing inside the school. I don't want you two running in the halls." Dumbledore said, sternly.
"Yes sir." Hermione and Harry said in unison.
Harry took Hermione by the hand, leading her back to the quad to where the blanket was.
"Why didn't you tell dad, Harry?" Hermione asked.
Harry sighed. "Him and mum could be in danger, Hermione."
Hermione stayed silent as she helped Harry fold up the blanket. They both were not paying attention to what they called McGonagall and Dumbledore.
