Chapter 14: Worried About Harry
Hermione knocked on Dumbledore's office door. She poked her head in for a moment.
"Oh Hermione, come in my child."
Opening the door, Hermione walked all the way in. Dumbledore automatically knew something was wrong.
"What is it, my dear?"
"I am worried about Harry, sir." Hermione said.
Dumbledore leaned back against his desk. "What are you worried about exactly?"
Hermione sighed. "He is a parselmouth, sir. I've heard the other students talk about him. They are afraid of him."
"Are you afraid of him?" Dumbledore asked.
Hermione instantly shook her head. "He is my brother and my best friend."
Dumbledore smiled at this. "I am pleased to know you are not."
"Are you and mum afraid of him?"
Dumbledore shook his head. "No we are not. Not even Severus is."
Hermione smiled. It faded quickly though.
"What is it?" Dumbledore asked.
"I wish we knew what was going on, dad. I don't want the school to shut down."
Dumbledore placed a hand on Hermione's shoulder. "You shouldn't focus on things like that, honey. You just need to focus on being the clever girl I know you are."
Hermione smiled. "Will you keep my brother safe?"
"Always." Dumbledore said.
Hermione wrapped her arms gently around Dumbldore. "Thank you daddy. I love you."
Dumbledore held onto Hermione. "I love you too, Hermione."
"Thank you for keeping me safe all those years."
Tears formed in Dumbledore's eyes. He looked at the door to his office. McGonagall just walked in with Harry. She smiled as Hermione hugged him. And something told him that she heard what their little girl just said.
"You are welcome, my child." He said, kissing the top of her head.
