"Helloooo nurse!", me and Yakko said as she came to the waiting room to pick us up for the day's session with Scratchy.
"Boys", said Dot as usual. This time she really shouldn't. But it's ok, I forgive her. She had no idea that would never happen again and that these sessions would never be the same again. None of us did.
"You come with me, kids", said Hello Nurse as she lead us to Scratchy's office. We followed, me and Yakko looking lovestruck.
We came in. "Dr. Scratchensniff, the Warners are here for a session. You kids be good.", said the nurse and left. But somethimg was odd. We saw that Scratchy was there at his desk, quiet, his elbows on the desk and his head in his hands. We slowly walked to the couch and sat down.
"What's wrong Scratchy?", asked Yakko. "Have we done something wrong again?", I asked. He looked at us and sighed. "I have to shov you something", he said as he got up and brought a jar on the desk. We were confused. What was this? Was it some hard task he didn't want to do with us? Before we could ask, he spoke up. "Someone brought this here and the nurse says that they told her it was for some experiment. You have to put your hand into this jar and test the substance. Yakko, you go first", he said.
Yakko got up and went to the desk. We were all excited. He came to the desk, opened the jar and put his left hand in it. And that's when it happened.
We heard a loud yelp of pain coming from our brother. He quickly held his hand back and shook it. We all gasped. "Yakko!", me and Dot yelled and ran to our brother. Everyone had a worried expresion on their faces. "What's wrong Yakko?", Dr. Scratchensniff asked. All we could get from our brother was one awful word repeated. "D.I.P.! D.I.P.!", Yakko yelled. We looked at his hand. Sure enough, it was burnt. Then me and Dot looked at eachother, and saw the same expression on our faces. Anger and worry. Then we turned to Scratchy. "Toonists!", both of us said angrily at the same time.
Dr. Scratchensniff quickly called Hello Nurse. When she came in, she had a worried expression on her face, even more worried when none of us greeted her the way we usually did. "What's wrong?", she asked. "Do you remember when you brought this here?", asked Scratchy. "Yes, what happened?", she asked. Then Yakko spoke up. "Well, I was the first one to test this thing, and when I put my hand in it, it turned out to be...", he trailed off and showed his left hand to her. She took his hand and got a closer look. She gasped. "Oh no! We have to fix this before it's too late! You guys come with me". We followed her to the emergency room where she put a gause on Yakko's hand. "There. Now you can go home. You need some rest", she said. "Why? It's not like I've broken something or like I'm sick", said Yakko. "D.I.P. is dangerous. You may feel better now, but you still have to rest to keep it under control", said Hello Nurse.
As we were walking towards the tower, me and Dot hung our heads down. It really wasn't fair. How could someone do this to all of us? How could someone just lie to Scratchy and Hello Nurse like that? And the worst thing, how could they belive them so easily?
I was interrupted from my toughts. "Come on sibs! I'll be fine, don't worry!", said Yakko. We looked up to see him smiling. As if, I tought.
We climbed up the tower and went in. Yakko went straight to bed and me and Dot just stood there, not knowing what to do. Dot sat on the couch and started crying. I sat next to her and hugged her, trying my best to keep my own tears from falling. If anything in the world made me sad, it was seeing one of my siblings sad. "W-why did this have to happen? H-how are we going to deal with this? Is Yakko going to be okay?", Dot asked trough tears. "Hey, it'll be fine", I said, "He's resting now, he'll be fine. Come on, let's go get some sleep. I think it's just a bad day. Besides", I yawned, "I'm tired, and I guess you're tired as well. I hope it'll be better tomorrow".
As we were getting ready to sleep, I repeated those words in my head.
It's just a bad day...
Isn't it?
Really, was it??
