Mercy

a Pull Me Down Fanfiction

Finn was beside himself; he was never the type of guy to get emotional over a girl but Rae wasn't just any girl. She was his everything and he had to go and fuck it all up by snogging Katie Springer. It was over three months ago that they had broken up; but, over time they agreed to continue to be friends. Finn still wanted to see her off to Uni at the train station; however, he could not leave just yet. Rae's family had already left after she boarded the train. He stood on the platform waiting to get a glimpse of the girl that he had loved so much; but that he had stupidly lost.

As the train turned, finally making its way out of Finn's eyesight he took a deep breath, "maybe this is all for the best" he said to the air around him. No one was on the platform except for this homeless man at the very end.

He was wrapped in dirty rags that Finn could smell from the other side of the station. He reached in his pocket for any spare change; he had enough on him for the guy to buy himself some chips and a pint.

He walked towards the stranger but before he could make it to him; two gentlemen in dark trench coats came into view,

"Where is it, old man?" said the tall, older gentleman.

"Yeah, these rags aren't fooling nobody, least of all me" screamed the younger of the two men.

"Hey" yelled Finn as he started running over to the small group of men but before he could make it halfway to them, the homeless man stood up in a rush and ripped off his tatter robes yelling,

"You're never going to find it now and you never will."

He ran as fast as he could onto the empty train tracks. In response to this, the younger man still on the platform pulled out a gun from his waistband, which had been concealed underneath his trench coat, and aimed it at the homeless man.

Finn stood there frozen as the scene continued to play out in front of him. Shit, what have I gotten myself into, he thought.

But just as fast as the gun was raised the homeless man produced his own weapon. At that moment Finn decided to duck behind a pillar out of sight of the men involved in the battle. They hadn't seemed to have noticed him, anyway.

With his head down and out of sight, Finn overheard the rest of a very heated conversation, "I told you old man that we would find you" comes the raspy voice of the older guy. He is the only one without a gun drawn at this point.

"It doesn't matter now," came a voice further away, probably the homeless guy's. A train bell sounded letting all of them know that a train was coming; meaning more people would soon be a witness to this standoff.

"Stand up old man and come over here before the train comes" yelled one of the men as the conductor continued to blow the whistle as he observed a man on the tracks. The conductor was trying his hardest to slow down the train but the brake was stuck.

The sound of a crash was all that Finn could hear followed by a series of expletive words.

"Fuck, we got to get out of here, Fernsby" came the voice of the youngest gentleman.

Finn could hear footsteps getting closer but they faded quickly before ending around the corner. Soon sirens sounded as Finn looked past the pillar he had hidden behind.

There on the tracks of the train terminal laid the homeless man or what was left of him. Finn decided to go before he would be questioned or worse booked on murder charges. He saw the faces of both of the men that were trying to rough up the homeless guy.

He just hoped that those guys didn't remember that he was a witness to all that had happened today.

A/N: I have been planning to write this story since 2018, even write the first chapter then put it to the side. Last year, I finally got around to writing it. I had even debated about publishing it as an Ebook but changed my mind. I loved it as a Fanfic too much. The Pass with Nico Mirallegro and Russell Tovey came out in 2018 (US release) and when I saw a photo of them together, I thought..."crossover fic."
