"MEOW!" Ladybug sprang out of bed, hearing Cat's voice coming from the bathroom. "Cat! Are you okay?" she pounded on the door. A akuma hadn't gotten into the apartment had it?
"Its okay," Cat grumbled. "The hot water shut off. Problem is, I still have bubbles in my hair." "I'll get the tub," Ladybug sighed. She may love her small apartment, but it did come with quirks, like the sink not working, in this case the hot water shutting off.
Carefully, Ladybug lugged the tub into the bathroom. "Okay, I'll help you finish…." Ladybug stopped as Cat walked out of the stall in his suit, half his hair looked wet and normal, while the other half was spiked and soapy. "It isn't funny, M'lady," Cat grumbled, plopping down the small tub, crossing his arms. Ladybug gently poured water over his head. "Your just grumpy because you haven't had breakfast yet," she said.
"By the way, aren't you forgetting something is today?" she asked. Cat starting rubbing his head with the towel. "I can't think of anything," he said. "Valentine's Day, Kitty!" Cat stopped rubbing his head.
"Don't worry, you can think of something after we dry your hair and you get coffee," she said, grinning. "What about breakfast?" he looked at her, green eyes wide. "Your right, Kitty. We'll have to get the shower fixed soon, because today breakfast will be a little late."
Cat detransformed after climbing out of the sewer, grumbling. "Are we going to buy her cheese for her gift?" Plagg, Adrien's Kwami, asked. Despite, being hungry, Adrien smiled. "No, that's what I'm buying you, as long as your good today," he said.
After picking up the morning coffee, Adrien took the long way back home. Shop windows were decorated with Valentine hearts and things to buy, but none of them seemed just right for his Bugaboo.
The smell of flowers hung in the air, and Adrien walked around the corner. A lady stood just inside the doorway watering her flowers, a happy look to her face. Well, Adrien thought, at least I could look around.
The most prominent flower displayed was red roses, but Adrien expected that, it being Valentine's Day. Walking further into the store, Adrien caught sight of a beautiful bouquet of blue flowers, mixed in with baby's breath.
He chuckled, thinking back to this morning. Even though the apartment wasn't perfect, Adrien didn't want it to be perfect. His actual home at the Agreste Mansion, was sterile, as close to perfect as his father could get it. He didn't want perfect anymore.
"Oh, you saw the Love In The Mist flowers," the shopkeeper told Adrien, walking over to where Adrien was standing. Well, there was water this morning, plus a very loud meow. He struggled to keep a straight face, suddenly finding the situation funny. "I'm considering them. Do you have any chocolate by chance?" he asked. "Right this way," she said, and they walked up to the front counter.
There was the traditional box of chocolates, little square ones that you could find everywhere. Adrien grinned as a box of cat-shaped chocolates caught his eye. His Lady would love them. "I'll take a box of the cat-shaped chocolates and the Love In The Mist bouquet," he said. "Would you like the chocolates wrapped?" "No, they should be fine the way the are."
Adrien transformed quickly after he left, knowing Ladybug would be worried about him being gone this long. He smiled as his baton dinged with messages.
Ladybug: Where are you?
Cat: Don't worry, I'll be home soon.
Ladybug: Your food's going to be cold, and I want my coffee.
Cat chuckled. He could see the little pout on her face.
He was almost home when his stomach growled. Loudly. He looked down at the box of chocolates. He knew he shouldn't, but Cat opened the box, thinking he'd have just one. Of course, that's never the way it is with chocolate….
"Plagg, it hurts," Adrien moaned, fifteen minutes later. Why had he eaten all that chocolate? Not only did his belly hurt, he was pumped up with sugar. "I know it isn't tuna, but you could go for a Zoom, burn off the extra energy…." Plagg's voice trailed off, as he saw the greenish look on his owner's face. "No, let's just get home."
Cat was quiet when he came home, happy that at least Ladybug enjoyed her flowers. Right now, though, all he wanted to do was lay down. "I thought you wanted breakfast?" Ladybug asked, confused. "I may have eaten something while I was out," Cat said. "Oh, Cat," she sighed.
Cat lay down for awhile. Soon, his tummy was feeling much better. So much better, in fact, he was feeling mischievous.
Sensing the need to zoom, he started singing around the apartment. Ladybug laughed as he picked her up, swinging her in a circle.
"Sweet Bugaboo, you are so sweet,
but unfortunately I ate your chocolates!"
Ladybug took the box from Cat, and read, "Cat-shaped chocolates for Valentine's Day, but beware the Kitty who could eat them, causing him to cause mischief!" Cat held his hands. "I think I've learned my lesson."
"Hey, its the thought that counts. Happy Valentine's Day, love." She looked again at her bouquet of flowers, on in the center of the table. "But why blue flowers, instead of red?" Cat grinned. "Remember this morning?"
The two laughed, thinking about how loud Cat's meow had been when the hot water shut off. "Blue and white, for water and foam!" Ladybug giggled. "You really are a clever Kitty!" "Would you like some coffee, M'lady?" "Hmm. That sounds good. Maybe even better then chocolate."
In the kitchen, Cat held out her chair for her. "Thank you, such a gentleman." Cat noticed her bluebell eyes were sparkling, and he sighed happily.
When the coffee was ready, Ladybug took Cat's hand. "You know, despite everything that's happened this morning, it's been a good morning. I like surprises like this."
Cat nodded. He liked moments like this too, when the unexpected happened. They were the moments to remember, sharing a laugh with the person who he loved the most.
He did learn one lesson, though, even if things had turned out for the best. Never eat a whole box of chocolate!
