Double D's hand shot into the air. "Yes, Mr. Eddward." His professor said as there were several groans and smacked lips. Edd paid no mind to these noises envy was the curse of genius and he would not falter in its appearance.

"Well, sir you'd simply need to open up the chassis and replace the rotator belt. In fact, you could do away with the belt entirely and replace it wi-." The teacher raised his hand to stop Edd from going further.

"That's correct Mr. Eddward, but let's keep our thoughts on simply replacing the damaged part and not fantastical ways of improving something that doesn't need to be." The teacher said as he went back to the diagram as Edd sat back in his chair quite miffed. He crossed his arms on the desk as he lamented his teacher's inability to push the bounds of the technology they had. Looking at the machinery diagram on the chalkboard Edd's mind swam with new ideas and innovations.

Double D's hand began to sketch out new designs almost of its own accord as the teacher's voice slowly bled away to nothing more than background noise. Before he knew it the bell rang and Edd jolted out of his glazed state and began to gather his books and notepads. Edd walked towards the door on his way to his next class. This would be equally as boring maybe he should hand in his work for the rest of the semester and spend his time in the library or something. Normally Edd would never even consider skipping class, but he really wasn't feeling it today.

The mess with Marie last night and then staying up until early that morning with Eddy and Ed had left him kind of wiped out. He gave a yawn as he reached into his backpack taking out several papers and placing them on his Professor's desk. "Sorry ma'am I'm not feeling too well, but here are the current assignments you've given out." He said as his professor looked over the documents and nodded. "Ok, Mr. Eddward you're excused." She said as Edd nodded and left.

Edd was walking down the hall and was just about to round the corner when he saw three familiar figures walking down the hall heading towards his classroom. Double D ducked behind the corner peeking around as the three males from last night opened the door roughly and walked inside. Edd started moving heading out of the building and then noticed the machine shop and made a beeline to it opening the door and ducking in. Edd looked through the window of the door and saw the three jocks burst out of the school building and start looking around.

"Shit!" Edd said locking the door and then looking around the workshop. Calculations and measurements rolled across his eyes as he started gathering materials to work with. As Edd began building he heard several bangs at the door.

"There you are you piece of shit!" The guy who'd been fucking Marie shouted as he banged at the door. "Open the fucking door, you're friends aren't here to protect you now punk!" He shouted slamming his shoulder against the door. Edd bit his lip as he ignored the banging and shouted obscenities.

"Almost there, almost there!" He whispered desperately to himself before hearing the sound of shattered glass and the door being thrown open. Double D looked up gripping his invention to his chest.

"You should have opened the door Eddy boy now I'm really pissed!" He said flanked on either side by his fellow jocks. They advanced on Edd cracking their knuckles. "See we were just going to kick you around and call it even, but since you made us work for it we're going to do a hell of a lot more now." He said as he picked up a bag of ball bearings and swung it lazily as his friends mirrored his actions one picking up a broken two by four and the other a small pipe. "We won't break any bones, but I think knocking out a few teeth and a pair of black eyes should be good enough!" He said as he rushed Double D.

Double swung his invention out to meet his incoming foe. What Double D had in his hands looked like absolute junk. A pile of scraps put together by a panicked and desperate hand. What served as a handle was a small brick of wood nailed into a halved two by four the exposed nails in the two by four had been bent over a traditional U magnet. At the front of the two by four was a bent saw blade that had been bolted to the other half of the two by four and was held in its bent position by the magnet. There was a wire wrapped around a heavy staple in the wood that was currently lax.

Double D squeezed the trigger of his creation as the magnet was pulled from the plate on the wood releasing the held piece of wood allowing it to spring forward slamming into the face of the first jock that approached him. There was a crack as droplets of blood splattered from the boy's broken nose as he fell onto his back grasping his thoroughly shattered nose. He groaned curling into the fetal position on the floor. Double D grabbed a makeshift pull string reeling his weapon back into the ready position and aiming it at his two remaining would-be assailants.

The two looked to their incapacitated friend and then back to Double D who stood there panting with adrenaline. "This shit ain't worth it. We're cool, dude." The boy with dreadlocks said dropping his pipe and leaving quickly followed by his other cohort. Double D looked at his makeshift weapon before placing it on the workbench and disassembling it quickly. He threw the two pieces of the wood into the chipper and left the workshop.

The entire walk back to his bike Double D was shaking with leftover adrenaline, but there was something else there, excitement. His hands shook with the eager energy to create. That threatening situating had forced his mind to think quickly, hurriedly neurons firing, endorphins flooding his system. It was all so euphoric. Double D hadn't felt so alive creating something since he was younger, since he was hanging out with Ed, and Eddy. That thought sat on his mind like a two-ton elephant on his trip back home.

Marie looked down at the street as she walked. She knew where she was going, but she didn't want to go. She was going to visit a man she thought she would never have to see until she could spit on his casket. She ran a hand through her blue hair as she stood on the other side of the street across from a body shop. Marie debated just moving on forgetting everything and just giving up on Edd. Was he really worth all this? She liked him sure, but did she like him enough to do this?

The answer was clear as Marie crossed the street and circled around the body shop and let herself in through the employee door. She'd looked at this place time and time again from across the street, but never went in until now. Marie skirted the wall of the shop until she reached the manager's office. She could see him in there now and felt her heart betray her as it quickened its pace.

She bit her lip and opened the door without knocking shutting it firmly behind her. The man placed a hand over his eyes. "What the fuck don't you idiots get about fucking knocking!?" He shouted uncovering his eyes ready to tear a strip out of whoever had interrupted his bookkeeping only to fall silent as he saw Marie before him. "Marie?" He asked making sure it was really who he thought it was.

"Hey…Dad." Marie said feeling a sharp twist in her stomach at the word dad. The man before her had blue hair similar to Marie, but lighter with age. He had a thick blue mustache over his lips that reminded Marie of the caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland. Martin her Dad stood up with a smile and walked over to her.

"Marie what are you doing here?!" He shouted excitedly opening his arms to embrace her which Marie quickly dodged out of the way. Martin took this in stride and raised his hands. "Alright, alright I get it. Your mom liked her space too I understand." Marie clenched her teeth at the mention of her mother.

"What would you know about what she liked?" She said under her breath but quickly got a grip on her emotions. She needed this shit to work. "I uh was in town visiting some friends and I saw you one day outside the shop. I-I didn't know if I should or even wanted to come to see you, but well here I am." She said as Martin smiled and sat on the edge of his desk.

"I'm glad you did it's been a…long time." He said running his hand through his light blue hair as Marie frowned again. "Well, how have you, your mom, and your sisters?" He asked as Marie clenched her fists she was about to explode.

"Um you know maybe I should go this isn't really the place to talk about this." She said heading for the door but Martin spoke again.

"Hold on Marie I know that you have some strong feelings about me and you're right, now's not the best time, but my guys are about to go to lunch. How about you stay here and I go pick up some sandwiches and a couple of cokes and we can you know talk about…everything." Marie looked at Martin and smiled.

"Ok, Dad." She said with a grin that Martin quickly returned.

"Good umm any preferences?" He asked as Marie shrugged.

"Surprise me." She said as Martin chuckled and left. Marie watched him go as he told his men it was lunchtime. She waited until the shop was empty before shaking her head. "Motherfucker." She said icily before moving through her dad's office looking through his books. Her mother had gone into great detail when she told her why she'd left her father. Her father had been a car thief back in the day a pretty good one at that, and from what she'd seen the few times she'd thought about coming here Martin was still in the business.

She knew he had connections to several prominent criminals after all when you pulled a heist best to do it in a car that's already been stolen. This shop also served as a chop shop police can't identify a car from a pile of parts now can they? "Come on you sonofabitch where's your shit?!" She hissed looking around and then hopping on his laptop. Marie was no tech whiz, but she'd subconsciously absorbed some of the techie shit Double D was always talking about.

"What did Double D say about getting into electronics even if you've forgotten the password?" She said as she did a few keystrokes hoping her subconscious would help her out. Soon enough she'd gotten into the laptop. "God I hope there's a line at the sandwich place." She prayed as she went through her dad's computers finding some rather suspect-looking files. "Fuck I hope this is good." She said taking out her phone and taking several pictures. "That'll have to be good enough." She said closing out all the windows and shutting the laptop. Marie left the shop and decided to head back to May's hopefully not catching her sister choking on a dick.

Marie ran a hand through her hair a coping mechanism she apparently got from her dad or at least that's what her mother told her when she slapped her hand and told her not to do it. Thinking of her mother made her also made her think of Lee. She shared their mother's red hair and commanding presence. Marie reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone before dialing Lee. It was around 2 in the afternoon so hopefully, Lee was up.

The phone picked up and she heard Lee's voice through the speaker. "Are you in jail?" Lee asked immediately putting a frown on Marie's face.

"No bitch. You think the only reason I'd call you was because I'm in trouble?" She asked. Lee who was standing in the kitchen in her house shoes, red tights, and a sports bra her bushy red hair was tied back from her face as she scrambled some eggs.

"Something like that, if you're calling me it's because you're in some kind of shit." She said scraping her eggs onto a plate. "So if you're not in jail what is it?" Lee asked.

Marie sighed. "Well you're right I'm not in the best place thanks to your boyfriend!" Marie hissed as Lee's head popped up with confusion.

"What the hell, Eddy is there?" She asked sitting down at her table and picking at her eggs and toast.

"Yeah he's here him and Ed they came over when I and Double D were having a fight and convinced him to kick me out. Eddy thinks he's going to be some kind of big shot crime boss and is going to have Double D and Ed help him." She said as Lee leaned forward a little interested. Eddy had apparently been very busy since smashing her window and leaving. She cast an eye to the taped-up cardboard window.

"Oh, really well what does that have to do with you? Like you said Double D kicked you out so just move in with May or something." Lee said before thinking about it and smirked. "Wait a minute you did something stupid didn't you. Double D wouldn't just kick you out unless you did something really fucking stupid." Marie hissed what the fuck was with her sisters they both acted like she was a fucking moron or something.

"Well I don't really care what you did, but I am interested why you're so interested? What are you going to help them or something?" Lee asked and after several moments of silence from Marie she couldn't help, but laugh. "Oh fuck you are!" She shouted laughing as Marie's face grew red.

"It's not like I fucking wanted to or something! It's May's fault she said if I wanted to get Double D back she said I had to." Marie said as Lee sat back and placed another bite of egg and toast into her mouth.

"Well, she's probably right. Whatever you did was no doubt really fucked up, so what're you going to do to help them out?" Lee asked prompting Marie to tell her everything. As she did so Lee scratched her red curls as her mind began working. With the information Marie had on her, she could see Eddy coming up with something really crazy, and with Double D on his side, he might be able to pull the shit off.

Lee smiled as she finished eating and stood up. "Don't worry little Marie Big Sis is coming to town," Lee said as Marie's eyes widened.

"You serious Lee?" She asked as Lee nodded.

"Hell yeah this shit might actually work and Eddy owes me too fucking much for him to go away and get big he's going to pay me back for everything." She said smiling as she pulled out an old suitcase and began stuffing it with clothes and sundries. "I'll see you in a couple of days," Lee said hanging up before Marie could say anything.

Marie looked at the phone seeing Lee had ended the call and sighed. "Well if the Eds are getting back together the Kankers might as well." She said heading back to May's.

Eddy looked at the disconnected phone in front of him and sighed as he rubbed his head. "Ugh fuck I was hoping to be done with Marie, but May had a point Marie might actually be able to get some good shit. It's pretty hard to not brag to the chick sucking your dick." He said with a smirk before yawning. "Well, I better head back to Edd's." He said making his way to Double D's and opening the door and seeing Edd there with a spread of papers on his table. He was sketching like a madman.

Eddy raised an eyebrow and shut the door. Double D's head popped up. "Eddy, welcome back!" He said excitedly reminding Eddy of one of those little spaz Chihuahuas.

"Ugh yeah hey Edd what are you up to?" He asked walking up behind him and looking over the sketches and couldn't really make heads or tails of it, but that wasn't anything new. He never knew what Double D was building until it was built. "Shouldn't you be at school or something?" He asked as Double D looked up at him with a manic smile.

"Oh I'm several assignments ahead already so I was going to just come home and skip my next class, but then those guys from last night came after me." Eddy's eyes darkened.

"Oh, really they want to start something after I and Ed rocked their shit? That's fin-." Double D cut Eddy off.

"Oh, I already did." Double D said almost nonchalantly." Eddy looked at Double D thinking he was crazy before Double D began to explain what had happened.

"And then after I left the workshop I couldn't help, but think about how exciting that was. For the last two years, I've just been going through the motions building what people told me down to the letter even though I know I could do more than they wanted. I could go beyond just rebuilding engines and demonstrating pulley systems. That is boring!" He shouted as he grabbed one of his sketches and showed it to Eddy. "I built this in seconds with junk and scraps Eddy I need a challenge. I'm stagnating here like this."

Eddy looked at Double D and smiled wide. "Oh yeah, I know what you're saying. You need to make something crazy something no one would ever think of." Double D nodded excitedly.

"Yes I want to go beyond my normal thought processes and make something just out of this world," Eddy smirked as he clapped a hand on Double D's shoulder.

"Don't worry Sockhead in a few more days I'll have something that'll get your gears whirring," Eddy said poking Double D in the side of his head before dropping down on the couch. He thought he'd have to work harder to get Double D to be on board with this, but apparently, all Edd needed was a jolt of adrenaline to get him going. Eddy threw his arm over his eyes with a big smile as he drifted off to sleep.
