Chapter 25 Infection and Insurrection

In the GT Universe

"Wait! Uncle Goten! I don't want to go into that lake! I don't want Umibozu inside me!" Pan yelled in exasperation. "Don't be scared Pan. It'll make you into a god just like me!" Phoenix comforted and encouraged back. "Goten! That lake didn't make you into a god! It infected you with some kind of demon! We have to find you a cure! Not afflict me with it!" Pan argued. "More mortal born brainwashing" Phoenix said quietly under his breath. "Pan you promised to help me, didn't you?" Phoenix questioned. "Yeah I did and I do but this isn't the way! I don't want to become a monster!" Pan screeched tearing up as she thought of the things Phoenix did in his timeline and want she could do if she were to become possessed by the same malevolent force. "What if I promise to help you keep yourself in check after the baptism?" Phoenix proposed with care in his voice. Pan looked at her deranged alternate uncle and saw the sincerity in his eyes despite their demonic glow. "Y-you'll stop me from losing myself?" Pan asked stuttering in uncertainty. "Of course my princess, the last thing I want is for you to change completely, I just want to ascend beyond your mortal limitations and join me in my new divine archery. Soon, you will realize just how unbalanced and disgusting existence itself is. You and I can make it all better! Get everything we want! Becoming the ultimate beings of justice and power! Spill the blood of Son Goku and all the other mortals and deficient gods! Ha ha ha!" Phoenix explained bellowing out laughing in bloodthirsty delight. "I-I agree grandpa needs a lesson but I don't want to kill anyone!" Pan exclaimed in fear. Phoenix looked at Pan's pleading eyes and his sadistic happy expression faltered as he contemplated on how to win Pan over to his side. "Tell you want Pan. I'll spare anyone you think should live" Phoenix offered. "Y-you mean it? You'll spare anyone I tell you to?" Pan asked blinking in surprise. "I mean everything I say Pan, the only exceptions will be Goku and Zamasu, they must die! No matter what!" Phoenix growled in anger as he thought of his former father figures. Pan thought hard about what her alternate dimension uncle had said. He was clearly consumed in hatred and darkness, but then again he was the dark half so that was to be expected. And despite that he had shown some kindness and even a willingness to compromise. Perhaps if she helped him uncle rid of Zamasu and her grandpa, he could calm down and be persuaded to give up his mortal genocide plan. She was sad knowing that she would essentially be an accomplice to the permanent end of her grandpa, but then again he had kinda created this devil. Plus her grandpa had left her and their family to protect earth. This was a rather messy and dishonest way to do it, but Phoenix was far to strong for them to win against. Satisfying her uncle's biggest personal somewhat justified dark desires might be the only way to appease him and talk him out of his batshit crazy ones. "Alright G...I mean Phoenix, I'll do it" Pan agreed reluctantly. "Good girl!" Phoenix said happily patting Pan's head making her face blush in annoyance and embarrassment. "Wait this is insane, there's gotta be-owww!" Kibito Kai tried to argue before Phoenix slapped him in the face sending him crashing to the ground. "No arguments from you! Don't you make me burn you alive Kai! We'll still need you after the baptism is complete" Phoenix threatened. The three of them made their way into the cave, eventually reaching the Lake of Umibozu. Pan stared at the water in sheer terror and fear, knowing what it did to her uncle. However she looked back at said uncle who nodded and smiled in encouragement. Remembering his promise to protect her and her own goals she accepted the trial and dived into the lake. She swam deep into the water and at some point came out some very familiar black hands. Phoenix and Kibito Kai waited patiently for their third wheel to emerge, the former giddy with excitement and the other anxious at the end result of the baptism and what might transpire if successful. Then bubbles appeared in the spot of water where Pan dove in. Her hand emerged and Phoenix grabbed it pulling the rest of her out. Her clothes had changed colors, her previously red shirt now black, her light purple jeans grey and her darker purple shoes now white. Within her mouth she had gained a set of fangs and her skin was now a bit paler. "How do you feel Pan?" Phoenix asked with sinister anticipation. To his surprise, rather then being ecstatic and feeling reborn like he had in his previous life, Pan just coughed up water like she was actually drowning. Once she stopped and recovered however she did gain a stunned expression as she examined her hands and body. She definitely felt the power of Umibozu within her. Strangely however Pan didn't actually feel stronger and she still felt like the same person she had always been. "I... I don't know. I feel the energy, but I don't feel like I've changed or gotten stronger uncle" Pan answered very perplexed though internally part of her was relieved. "Really? Hmm odd? Kai! You have an explanation?!" Phoenix asked demandingly confused as well. "How would I know! This is the first time I'm hearing about any of this! And frankly I'm just relieved that your baptism of darkness seems to have backfired!" Kibito Kai exclaimed angrily getting frustrated that he was in a situation that he had no way of stopping or controlling. Phoenix glaring daggers at Kibito Kai growling in anger making the Kai flinch and back away in fright. "If didn't have the ability to travel to anyplace instantaneously, you would be utterly worthless, you know that right?" Phoenix insulted disgusted by the Kai's incompetence. "Don't worry Pan maybe you'll feel godly later. Perhaps your divinity is so grand, it'll take awhile before it fully take hold! Ha ha ha!" Phoenix reasoned over exaggeratively making Pan giggle a little at his goofy behavior. "In the meantime, before we head back to earth, there's somewhere else we must go" Phoenix announced. "Where to? What for?" Kibito Kai asked nervously. "Ha ha! To exact my first revenge and the three of us are about to be promoted" Phoenix explained with a sick grin on his face.

Some time later, on the supreme Kai planet of Universe Ten

Zamasu was preparing a pot of tea for his master Gowasu in the Kai temple with a contented smile. "Zamasu you have made tremendous progress in your mental health training these past few years" Gowasu said with pride. "Thank you master, mortals clearly are imperfect, but now I realize that they can improve, even if it does take some time and not all achieve greatness" Zamasu said back gratefully. "I can't believe I once considered exterminating all mortals, it disgusts me now" Zamasu said with an aura of regret. "There is no need for self punishment Zamasu, you restrained yourself and now it's in the past, we best move on into the future, keep up this progress and you'll be Supreme Kai in another two or three decades" Gowasu said reassuringly. Zamasu smiled at his master's words. "I will not fail you master" Zamasu said bowing. "Tsk tsk, and to think our prayers are supposed to go to these jerks!" A raspy voice said snidely with a humorous yet creepy undertone from behind. Zamasu and Gowasu turn around to the entrance to see the source of the voice. Standing there was three figures, one of them familiar as the Supreme Kai of Universe seven, the other two unfamiliar though it was easy to tell by there they weren't friendly. "Oh, uh greetings Kibito Kai, what brings you here and who are your...guests?" Zamasu said nervously as the little girl's stern and somewhat angered glare and the clown looking man looking at him with sadistic happiness expressed by his fanged toothy smile. "Hello there PoznaƄ! It's been a dog's age! Ha ha ha!" Phoenix greeted stepping forward then zooming to be face to face with Zamasu bowing his head rapidly nearly hitting Zamasu's. "W-what? I'm sorry sir you must have me mistaken for someone else" Zamasu said sheepishly hoping this obviously deranged man would back off. Unfortunately it had the opposite effect. "Oh no, l know you all too well, we were once besties!" Phoenix said cheerfully throwing his hands in the air like an excited child. "That is until our...falling out" Phoenix said his mood quickly darkening, a scowl replacing his smile. "Who are you? Zamasu he seems to know you" Gowasu asked curious. "I swear master I've never seen him before, he must be confused" Zamasu answered. "Come, I'll see if I can't help yo- ahhh!" Zamasu's offer was cut short by Pan grabbing his wrist breaking it and then throwing the apprentice Kai into the wall. "Zamasu!" Gowasu screamed in horror before Phoenix drew a ki blade and pierced Gowasu's heart killing him. "Thatta girl! Now finish that traitor off!" Phoenix approved encouraging his apprentice niece. Pan walked towards Zamasu who was picking himself up from the hit. She felt immense rage for what this bastard did to her uncle and she wasn't gonna let him do it again to anyone else. "Why are you doing this?! I didn't do anything to you!" Zamasu pleaded on his knees in terror. "Shut up! You hurt my uncle! Your gonna pay!" Pan yelled enraged not interested in this liar's pleas reading a black ki attack in her hands. "No please! Whatever I did to your uncle I apologize! I beg you don't kill me!" Zamasu screeched desperately. Pan's fiery eyes died down and she saw the innocence of the Kai. Realization hit as she remembered that this was not the same Zamasu that had warped her uncle. This one had done nothing wrong and didn't seem to show any signs of doing any in the future. "What are you waiting for Pan?! Expunge that wrench from existence!" Phoenix yelled angrily. Pan's ki subsided in her hands and turned back to look at Phoenix. "I can't" Pan said despondently. "Do it! He must die!" Phoenix shouted back. "Uncle this Zamasu is different! He's innocent! Let him go!" Pan screamed crying. Phoenix looked at his niece with disappointment. "Get out of the way" Phoenix ordered in a deadly low voice beginning to walk towards Pan and Zamasu. Pan quickly put her arms out in defense. "Goten no! Let him live! Please!" Pan begged tearfully. "My name is Phoenix Pan! Now I'm not going to tell you again, get out of my way!" Phoenix scolded. "No! I'm not gonna let you kill-" Pan's defiance was cut short when Phoenix grabbed her head covering her mouth and roughly sent her skidding on the floor away from him and Zamasu. Phoenix looked back at Zamasu who was utterly terrified gaining a insane evil smile on his face. "From your ashes, I have risen once more, now burn!" Phoenix exclaimed as he rapidly conjured up black fire from his hands and sent a dark inferno point blank at Zamasu. The poor Kai to never be screamed in agony as he's flesh was burned off and his blood boiled away. Within minutes all that remained were charred bones which Phoenix stomped on turning them into dust. Pan and Kibito Kai were shaking in utter horror of all the burning and blood, the former now starting to regret coming along with Phoenix and the latter praying for a way out. Phoenix's frown returned as he looked back at his two "partners" with walked up to Pan. "U...uncle I- I'm sorry... I just- owww!" Pan screamed as Phoenix slapped her cheek, turning it red. "Don't you ever talk back to me! Understand! When I give you a command, you fulfill it! Got it!" Phoenix scolded harshly. Y...yes" Pan whimpered fearfully crouching down. Phoenix sighed as he kneeled down and stroke Pan's hair. "I'm sorry, just don't do it again princess" Phoenix said with affection. Phoenix then headed into the temple retrieving the time ring putting it on his finger. "Well now that I have this, I'm afraid I have no further use for you Kai ha ha! Say hello to Zamasu for me!" Phoenix joked reading to kill Kibito Kai. "Wait what!? No!" Kibito Kai panicked trying to come up with something. "Uncle wai- cough cough cough" Pan's request was interrupted when she broke into a coughing fit. Phoenix looked at her with concern. "Pan? Are you alright?" Phoenix asked concerned. Pan stopped coughing however afterwards she felt like she had a headache and felt woozy. "Ughh... I don't feel good" Pan muttered putting her hand on her head. Phoenix stopped his attempted murder and examined Pan. Her head felt a little warm and her skin seemed to have paled a little more. "Hmm perhaps you've caught a bug sweetie" Phoenix reassured. He then looked over at the supreme Kai remembering their ability to heal and treat illnesses. "Kai! Keep an eye on Pan, if she gets real bad, it's your duty to make her well again, if you refuse I'll rip out your small intestine and choke you with it by the throat!" Phoenix threatened. "Y-yes sir!" Kibito Kai said taking Pan into his arms. "Good now while you treat her, phase three shall begin" Phoenix declared with an evil smile.
